Much easier to unplug the signal wire to the stick coil than pulling it off the spark plug to diagnose a bad one. Zero chance of shorting out coil windings that way. Don't run an ignition coil open-circuit (these are definitely not your grandfather's ignition coils); the back-EMF can and does short or blow open windings. Also, that powder coat isn't conductive.
Yes, me again. Got the starter properly put in as per your video. Just a reminder, I have an R1150RS which seems to be the red headed stepchild/bastard child BMW. I received and replaced both injectors that I ordered from England. Also replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump, also from England. Ordered and installed two new stick coils from my country of origin Germany. The bike runs like shit. It pops and sputters and with twisting the throttle it revs sometimes to maybe 9k then falls on ts face. I can also twist the throttle and it tries to die and when I let of it seems to find its sweet spot (may half way) and rev again with pops and farts along the way. Pulled the plugs as per whichever video on both sides and there is spark. Pulled the power from the left, new, injector and there is no change in engine sound.I pulled the right and it goes dead. Can smell gas big time but don't see a leak. Suggestions?
Your left injector is stuck open dumping fuel into the exhaust. The engine is running on the right cylinder and quits when you take power away from that injector. You have an issue with that left injector. Thanks for writing, jeepy and good luck, Chris
Chris, on a recent trip my 2010 RT developed engine vibrations. It coincidently happened after I topped up the engine oil (though I can’t see any connection there). At idle it seemed to stumble slightly but nothing major. The vibration has my handle bars and pegs buzzing at highway speed. I had the bike checked at the local BMW dealer. They checked the plugs, coils and readjusted the throttle bodies. Problem remains. It just isn’t as sweet as it should be. Any ideas?
hi Chris I have a 2004 1150rt and one thing I noticed with the bike running on idle( seems to run fine) but when I turn the right side tb wheel to rev it it goes lumpy and revs drop, doing the same to the left side the revs increase in a normal way, I’m assuming the right side should do the same ? and thanks for an excellent series of videos
Hey Chris....Help! I was riding my 2004 R1150RT yesterday when after shifing into 3rd the bike made a noise and then I didn't have any power to my rear wheel...It just whined and I am not sure if its the clutch or transmission...but it won't shift into gear and it makes a whining noise without any transfer of power to the drive shaft!
hello Chris! thanks for all your videos! you help all us much more! can you help me with my problem? Two different heavy noises.. The toc toc toc noise sounds louder when the clutch is pulled by me and only when the bike is hot. The "klang" noise sounds while i release clutch. This noise is MUCH MUCH MUCH (like bang) louder with a gear on gearbox (not neutral). These noises sounds and before the service. ua-cam.com/video/RLmNoP_ytNk/v-deo.html more information here advrider.com/f/threads/bmw-r-1150-gs-clutch-transmission-noises.1297660/ THANKS A LOT

Once again the Knowledgeable one works through to the answer.
Thanks Volgnit!
Wrong side to adj. The left left side controls both injectors. If you open the right side without the left opening you just let a bunch of air in.
He's back!
I am!

That's because the throttle position sensor is on the left only. So it isn't sending fuel to the right unless it detects the tps open on the left.
✌🏿😜 VAS-Y CHRIS
T'ES BON BON BON 💪😜

Oh Marshall, you've suffered spline failure. ua-cam.com/video/vvQaZhh662Q/v-deo.html
Holy shit, and I thought my 1200 sounded like a gunny sack of hammers tied around a driveshaft.
Nice to see you back into it 😊. Hey what's that knocking at idle?
Hope your all doing well.
All well, thanks, JC!
