When Qaasim sang give me love during Hollywood Week is when I fell in love with him and I wish that he would sing something like that again
Thanks for your critique about the Voice. I rarely watch American Idol now; I really feel the show has been declining while The Voice is getting more viewers. I absolutely enjoy listening and watching this season's coaches and contestants.
Thank you for 'nailing' Mr. Rayvon's complacency, as portrayed in his clips. Now, he 'may be' a genuine, humble guy in real life, but he has failed miserably in realizing 'how' to use this machinery in his favor. I think he's gone and another great singer bites the dust because they forget that the camera packages always have the final word with the voters, not the vocals. And I LOVE everything you had to say about The Voice and SAWYER !!!!!!!
No exit interviews from the eliminated contestants this year??
I've been wondering the same...I asked Michael about it twice on twitter but no answer. Bummer, always enjoyed those.
Are kidding me? Those interviews are great! The contestants are candid, funny and comfortable, not to mention that we get to learn so much about certain choices they made. C'mon Slezak!!!

I get that Melinda is biased towards Rayvon but really, defend the kid if he does something amazing. Vocally he may be good but he hasn't shown anything on the show that justifies all the defense he gets. I just don't get excited when its his turn and he hasn't surprised the heck out of us with his song choice or his vocals.
I just thumb this vid up b4 I watched...yep thats a thing I did...love what Mike said about Quentin, he def is like a male Lana del Ray...and Jax TOALLY blew me away, still riding for that singer,shes sooo inventive

All mid-tempo? Quentin did Master Blaster (Stevie Wonder) a couple weeks ago. Did it well too (of course pitch was an issue). But I agree--he could give us more of that.
Yall need to start talking about the Voice more cause that's where the real talent is.

so that's why there's less than 3 minutes... of lip service...
Melinda, Daniel improved?? from what? He came out sounding and looking like a little boy playing a big boy's game and not ready. His voice is changing, his confidence is not as much there as in the beginning. He should have waited a few years. Joey had a horrible night from putting her manufactured twang into Karma Chameleon where it didn't belong to her lack of concentration in her own song. It looked like she was trying to remember her lyrics as we know from HWW, lyric remembering is not her strong suit.
The Voice is SO MUCH BETTER than Idol this year! I saw an interview with Melissa Etheridge recently and she nailed it for me... The performers now get noticed on UA-cam or on these shows and go right to recording their albums. They do not learn the art of performance or in some cases breathing (my thought) before they are in front of millions of people and it is showing on Idol in big ways this year. SO SAD as I have loved Idol since year one and I love the judges, but they have no power to really get in and help these contestants in the short time they have to tell them what they think. Where has all the booing gone from the audience? If they are not booing then the judges are not telling the contestants what they need to hear. PLEASE Idol... Fix this MESS and fix it soon or there will be no room in my TV schedule for you.

Loved and agreed with everything you guys said except for 2 things:
I would've put Tyanna at #3. The vocal was great, the song choice was great, and the energy was great! I thought Qaasim sounded great as well this week, but like you said Michael, I would LOVE to hear him do a ballad. THAT would really show him in a whole new way.
I'm glad you said you graded Joey to kindly Michael cause honestly, I gave her a lower grade than Daniel. :( I know I know, rough. But it's only because I thought everything about her performance was a Cindy Lauper wanna-be. Nothing felt like the genuine Joey that we have all come to grow and love. I would HATE to see her go home, but in my review, I put that she will. I'm just praying that I'm wrong!
