Good questions, these. I wonder how the single lid/one-plate regime idea matches up with the idea of terranes getting glued onto baby Laurentia, as in ye olde Whitmayer and Karlstrom (2007). On a related note, people are getting interested in deep-down ore deposits, as in MdCafferty et al (2019) in Ore Geology Reviews, Vol. 111 (August). Ever since I took that class from Condie 30 mortal years ago, I've had a fetish for basement rocks and how come they're there.
