Hi I have a question. What in your opinion is happening to all the softshell turtles? They are suddenly going extinct from many states. There are no longer any in many rivers and streams they were once found in just three or four years ago.
A combination of over - hunting them for the southern meat trade. They’re hunted by the hundreds of thousands. Many are also sent to China for their turtle meat trade. Same thing happens with snappers (though snappers aren’t at risk of being endangered) but strangely enough when it comes to snapping turtles the Chinese keep them as pets. I love soft shells. I keep a FL softie as a pet ❤
@@turtleconservation thx man. I’ve got a ton and I’m upgrading there tanks here pretty soon and they’ll have more room for hides. I wanted to add plants but didn’t no what types. Obviously can’t be something to big
@@High-Side-Broadcasting Thats cool! What type of box turtles do you have? Live plants are definitely beneficial to turtles, and you could also try moss.
Would you be interested in taking 3 box turtles in? I’ve been caring for them for the past years and I’ve just been really busy lately they still get taken care of but I’m just doing a lot right now.
Ive had a question I’ve been searching all over the web for and can’t find an answer so either it’s just common sense or doesn’t really matter, but my entire lawn is on a slight incline, and I can’t dig bc of rent, so would having my Russian tortoise habitat on an incline affect anything in his life? (recently got her she is 5 yrs)
I have a few hatchling box turtles available for sell or trade for a female Russian or Hermanns tortoise. If you or anyone else come across adult female Russian or Hermanns torts let me know.
You gotta upload again we miss you, your channel has helped me so much with my turtles

What are the best plants to put in a baby eastern box turtle tank?
Not that ive had a baby box turtle, but ferns, pothos, and duckweed in a water area are good
