The Character Animator corner of Twitch is seriously one of the coolest, most creative, most supportive online communities to be a part of, even if you don't/aren't able to dabble in Ch yourself! GG to Grif, Theno, Death, and all you other Twitch folks that got featured in this today!
I'm blown away by all the creativeness I saw in this video. There are so many talented people out there! I retired from a 30 year career in news video editing. I even started before digital editing was invented - only tape! Imagine that!! Wish there had been such an awesome program when our station finally went digital/ nonlinear. You all are the future. Keep up the amazing animation!
Hey look motherboard I made it! Awesome showcase as always! Was cool to see I made the cut! Being able to be a cartoon live is amazing and I love it. Thanks to the CH team for everything that happens behind the scenes! Cant wait to keep seeing the improvements and others that join in on this animated world!
Great video Dave. The beasties and I are so happy we made it in. I'm loving all the work everyone is doing with CH! As Dave mentioned, I'm here to lend a hand.
Checked your video about getting robbed. That's some amazing work man! The meditation scene is perfect! Glad I decided to see if you had uploaded anything by now!
Christopher's Is such an awesome animator and I love his imagination and his work and to see that he is using such an awesome program like Adobe Character Animator is so DOPE! I plan to try it myself. Great video and examples.
Excellent update there Dave. Real interesting things happening with Character Animator. And with the updates you guys are incorporating things will only get better
Wow! Fantastic to see the community growing - and thanks for the shoutout Dave. Love your videos. Can't wait to see what 2020 brings for Character Animator!
hi Dave....I'm a beginner in CH...Can you help me with "head scratch" pose in Nelson...how to make that? And many thanks for all your guide through youtube...it's great and helpful.
Check out the Replays video: ua-cam.com/video/mZioGOAt8RE/v-deo.html. Basically you record something and then package it up into a triggerable element. I use it all the time for my characters!
Hi, Dave! So, I've been using Character Animator with some very large and complex, multi-layered puppets and my MacBook Pro can barely handle it. It doesn't help that I usually have Photoshop and other pro apps open simultaneously to make edits on the go. It's torture. So, I'm looking to upgrade my machine. What would you say is the most important spec that will speed up my workflow? More CPU cores? More RAM? Better graphics card? Thanks for your time!
Our requirements are here as a guide: helpx.adobe.com/adobe-character-animator/system-requirements.html. I would personally say if you're planning to do animation and video, the more RAM the better!
I am just getting started with character animator and have made two puppets so far I am wondering if the puppets can also be used in Adobe animate as well
Hey Dave, love the channel. Have been following it for quite some time and have been working on my characters on and off. I've had some snags trying to figure out why my eyes disappear sometimes (not sure if it's during the blink cycle or not). Would you happen to know why that would be and how I could go adjusting it to the look I want? Either I use the blink cycle I created and my eyes disappear at times (I think when I'm squinting but unsure) or I let CH do it's thing and warp my eyes so it has a smoother blink, but it's not the look I want to go for. I'm not sure if this question has been answered and trying to find answers in the forums have been difficult to sift through. I'd really appreciate any help you can offer
If the eyes disappear yeah, it's most likely the blinking. Basically any layer named blink is going to make everything else at its same group level disappear. So depending on the cycle settings and placement you might have a state where the blink is done and nothing is showing up. There should be some examples of blink cycle characters - I think Narrator Dave is on okaysamurai.com/puppets - so take a look at those and follow them. If it keeps up please post in the official forums with a screenshot of rig mode and we can help you more directly there!
@@okaysamurai thanks so much! just compared the difference between puppets and it worked! all I needed to do was check "hold on last layer" for the blinks and it was solved
one last thing, is there a trigger that makes an asset that goes off at intervals? I saw in one of your videos about "advancing frames" but I feel like that's for slowing down the pace of something. the action I want to do, is have my character take a swig every 2 min or so. I also want to have the lower third titles appear every 5 min. is there a way to have that automatically set without having to use the keyboard or having it set in post?
Yes - I just set the cycle layers really high. So for Evans the robot for example on the Okay Samurai puppets page, each blinking light is set to cycle layers and switches after a predetermined amount of frames. Just make the frame count high. I did this for Bluster the snowman too to have the upper third "cards" cycle through - he's on adobe.com/go/chexamples .
Hey, I'm a Samurai lookalike. I've been making my music videos with your Adobe Character Animator program. I'll have my premiere on UA-cam in 7 hours today. I would love some support/feedback from you. For your information, the choppy music is not your fault but my mistake. See ya!
Character Animator memory management is...appalling...why are there 25 instances open each using 2 GB for After Effects? It's just a simple PSD file, not even 30 MB....Adobe need to start thinking about speed and efficiency or you will start losing all ur customers soon.....it's getting unusable now...
The psd version and ai version of character cooker are ready (minut 7) visit henkvisser.nl

There is no direct link yet between AN & CH, other than being able to export a SVG from AN to bring into CH (it's in AN publish options).
Thank you so much! You just made my day!!

How do you make a character cry (with tares) or Lough on Adobe character creator......
Thanks...👍
See Tull the Cat in the Home screen in CH, he has triggers for crying and laughing.
where is the scource file for adboe animate for the cookies project please
Not sure what this is asking for, but all our free example puppets are on adobe.com/go/chexamples and okaysamurai.com/puppets.
Hi Dave, I'm looking for the ExplosmEntertainment making of video you featured but can't find it on their channel. do you know what its called?
I think it was on their Kickstarter page for the trolley game IIRC?
And here I am struggling to rig a normal character :D well i will get there.... i guess....

CAN WE ADD TWO CHARACTER IN ONE SCENE AND MAKE THEM TALK TO EACH OTHER IN CHARACTER ANIMATOR
YES YOU CAN ADD AS MANY PUPPETS AS YOU WANT INTO A SCENE JUST DRAG THEM IN THERE
@@okaysamurai but can we me it like our character is sleeping or sitting on chair or eating food
Yes. As I said in your other comment, anything you can make in Photoshop or Illustrator, you can animate in Character Animator.
When you search the #characterAnimator hashtag on Instagram it doesn’t return a lot of CH users. Can we tag you in posts?
If you mention me in a comment I'll see that too. But the hashtag is enough, no worries, we see it all. :)

25 instances would probably mean you have 25 scenes linked...what’s your setup like? 25 scenes in one comp, 25 scenes in 25 comps, etc?
