My first Celtic match too . Celtic were underdogs going into this match . A few days later Dunfermline beat Celtic 5-1 at East End Park in the league .
Interesting to see all these soon-to-be-famous players - Gemmell, McNeill, Murdoch, Clark, Chalmers, Hughes, Lennox, Auld - at a point when they had won nothing, and this was the first in a glorious sequence. McNeill's goal changed history. Also, the size of the crowd is incredible - 108,800 according to Wikipedia.
I was at this game in the enclosure. Been in Hampden a few times with larger crowd (England game with 134,000, but first time for true Hampden roar, albeit for smaller crowd. Constant wall of noise for last ten minutes from Celtic supporters.😡

@@michaelgallagher7549 Yeah mate my mistake the Scottish cup final record is the Celtic v Sheep thought it was later than 1937 though.Got the Rangers v Celtic one wrong as well that was 118.000 at ibrox with the supports both clubs carry i would have thought a Hampden final between them would have been over 150.000 maybe crowd trouble kept the crowds down it was a lot worse back then .
@@Flyingscotsman93 yes it strange bud how as you say how the 2 clubs basically didn't have a full capacity I couldn't imagine 1937 Aberdeen would have bought down a massive support even now they struggle fill half of Hampden then again I'd give them 15000 then again that's another story
Is there any footage at all of the Bobby Charlton testimonial game at Old Trafford in 1972? I was at the match and it was a great night, but I've never been able to locate any footage. Hope you can help.
