The main difference between Blendtec and Vitamix is their design.
The pitcher for Blendtec is square-shaped. Unlike the round-shaped design of Vitamix that spins the ingredients around in a circle, this design disrupts the blending flow; the contents hit the flat sides of the pitcher and fall back toward the blades. It also makes the pitcher easy to clean as the water stays around the blades longer.
Blades
Blendtec blenders have blunt blades made of cold-forged, hardened steel. These blades are ten times stronger than those of Vitamix and pulverize ingredients efficiently, whereas Vitamix uses sharp stainless steel blades to chip away ingredients.
