- I took apart this BMW i8 so we can wrap it to another color. Chrome Red is the color we are doing.

Great job. Do you know how the shark fin antenna comes off, is there a screw or just tape? Thanks
Hey Kevin, we are scheduling an i8 for a blind spot detection system and I am wondering if we need to take the rear fender wells out in order to get the inner rear panel off or not? (the one with the BMW logo). Thanks
Awesome video
Hi Kevin .How to remove the R or L step side panel of i8 .Thanks
Thanks for the video man,
For the BMW emblem on the hood, does it just pop? Or any screws holding it from under the hood?
Also on front bumper , same concept as rear bumper? Screws under the car and clips?
Thanks
Hi do you know if the plate number part that holds the camera. Just pop off? Or do you need to do the whole bumper removal thanks
Struggling getting that mirror wiring harness to feed out of the door. It looks like the 4 connections are secured by a clip inside the door. How did you get it to release to feed the connections up and out? I'm working on a 2018 i8. I didn't have this issue on the past '15 and '16 i8 I worked on.
having the same issue :( the cables are not coming out. I am pulling and yanking hard... nothing...
thank u. it would be great to c this in real time with more detail and the front bumper too.
Yeah, I had a few Bmw techs asked me to take down the video due to “uncertified removal of their vehicle” lol. So I will just leave the video as is, I’m sure it has helped many people already.
I have an i3 that needs a Quarter Panel replaced. Found one that is in great condition from a car scrap yard. Any experience with replacing those?
Haven't tried on a bmw i3 yet, seems like it could be something simple as the i8.
Thank you 🍻
Awesome video.
The part that comes from the top of the roof and down across the back, on top of the tail light, can I remove only that part or do I need to remove bumper or any other to remove it?
Also for the tail lights, can I just remove them or also I would need to remove the top part of the bumper?
Thanks man
You need to remove the rear bumper so you can remove the bolt thats holding it down. Theres about 6 bolts and 1 snap pin thats holding it (driver side has the antenna that you need to remove the trunk interior to disconnect)
@@Kevin4Hire what about that section in the middle of that part I got the 2 bolts on the roof section and two on the rear by the taillight but cannot figure out the middle section
@@Kevin4Hire can you help us out with some clarification on this? I'm trying to remove these pieces for a wrap and I'm having trouble
@@TheBolognist did you have success? I’m about to wrap one and just now starting the disassembly.
Same guys, we have in in going satin chrome, but its the sweeping tops that go down to the rear to give access to the super recessed section. Just need the tops off really
I'm doing one now, are you able to give me some pointers on the rear quarter panel wing? Does the rear bumper have to come off to pull that off?
I wish this was answered. It kinda looks like you need to remove the tail lights to get to same bolts from underneath that holds those wings. I might be wrong... but thats what it looked like
So is that back piece that holds the camera and plate. Just clipped on? If I wanted to replace its just the screw behind the plate?
And all the wiring behind it.
@@Kevin4Hire thanks, so no need to remember be the whole bumper just for that part. Great thanks
Yeah, its just two 10mm behind the license plate. If I remember correctly and all the wires behind the piece before you can take off the whole thing. There are enough room for you to put your hand in there and unplug everything. The plugs may be hard at first but im sure once you remove the first plug, the other will be easy. Also, the bottom clip on that piece thats clipped in the bumper, use a pick or something thin to lift the clip out of the hole so you wont risk ripping the bumper.
the whole bumper after the camera piece, it'll be fun, just remember the two screws on each bottom corner, its a torx i believe. (been so long, i kinda forgot.)
@@Kevin4Hire thank you Kevin! Great help! The only video here and sure to be popular as car gets more accessible to others!!!
OMG the tires are DONE ! haha
How did you remove the front Grills?
best way is to remove the bumper but you could access it from the "engine compartment" and its held on by 7 fasteners on each grill.
Same concept i3
Some paneles show good talent but tope section noting explain
