Sunjeev Sahota interview

Sunjeev Sahota was named one of Granta’s Best of British Young Novelists in 2013. His first novel Ours Are The Streets examined radicalisation among Muslim youth in Sheffield and was a huge critical and commercial success. The second novel The Year of the Runaways was released in 2015 and explores global issues of identity, belonging and culture through the lives of three male immigrants who arrive in twenty-first century Sheffield. The event considers representations of the North of England, its problems and future in contemporary British Fiction. Dr Shaw is Academic Lead for Literature at Leeds Beckett University and Principal Lecturer in Contemporary Literature. Her research focusses on the contemporary British novel and - with Sunjeev - she helped launch the 2013 Granta Best of Young British novelists list across the world.
