Howdy, Mr. Phil. Greetings from Ireland. Last year, I transitioned from a wood stove to an oil (kerosene here) stove. I am so pleased I did make the change. The running costs are less, for far more heat output and no cleanup. The oil stove (Franco-Belge) gives almost instant heat to the place, and I bought it second-hand online for little money. Your videos on oil stoves gave me the confidence to make the change (scary) and everything you said in your videos was absolutely perfectly spot on, on point, and correct. Thank you so, so, very much for making and sharing.
Thanks for this video. Very comprehensive. I've looked at some of your others as well. I have an old Siegler Kerosene burning stove in a workshop that only seems to run well at lower settings. If I crank it up it generally isn't long before things get sooty. I clean the stove out fairly often (due to this) but it doesn't seem to make too much of a difference. At a low setting the flame has more of the blue color to it though it does still fluctuate (flare) quite a bit - perhaps due to air? The damper seems good but I'm not an expert on setting these. The gasket around the door is a bit worn out - is it likely that is the problem? I don't see smoke or smell it unless the stove soots up. Sorry for the long-winded, self-interested post!
One last factor would be atmospheric barometric pressure, that may cause issues. People may notice higher difficulties lighting the stove during inclement weather/low pressure. A couple of ways to address this situation are the use of a forced draft blower or electric flue heater during start up.
@@willw.6639 No, I don't make videos any more, and removed what I had up (under a different channel) because I don't agree with numerous UA-cam policies.
Hi I have a oil burning stove. Never had this problem, but lately it smells. Gasket are good. Could a dirty flut explain it? I vought the housr 5 years ago. I use the stove one month a year. Never cleaned the flut. What could it be?
Hi there my reflecks oil stove goes out on windy days then burner floods and then puffs smoke out through the disc air valve in the flew some times relights flooded it scares me can I remove the damper vent in the flew
Because the bottom of the burning pan needs to be clean an clear of any debris, I wouldn’t recommend it. If you plan on cleaning it thoroughly to go back to oil fed, then you could do it, or if you want to make it a wood burning exclusively, it would work.
Hey, thanks for all the videos. Lots of help. Curious about this though, if you were to convert it into a wood burning stove strictly how would you go about it? Would you have to disconnect and cap the oil lines from it? And would you have to change the chimney? Also- would you recommend putting some sort of steel plate down? Thanks

Thank you for the great comment!
Thanks for the info especially on the oil stove. I have a spinning cowl on my flu. I’m installing it tomorrow following your other video. Cheers!
Glad I could help!!
Appreciate all the time and effort you put into these videos. Just subbed

Is your stove perfectly level with all the chamber holes cleared out? This can be cleaned with a wire brush nicely
It is fairly level - on a brick floor 🙄- I will do the wire brush thing!@@philg
Thank you You said gasket and solved the problem.

Yes that is very true! Thank you for sharing :)

Yes it could be, make sure the system is clean. Do you use a fire starter? Sometimes these can give off a smell.

This disc valve in the flew seem to be just making a stinky mess of soot in my home I'm about ready to discard this thing
Make sure it is level and clean.
Make sure it is level and clean.
Can you please show the way to clean ‘Codin’ oil stove pipe and if possible to how to unassembled for cleaning it once in 22 years :)
Thank you
Please read Godin stove not Codin
Good day, I will look into this and hopefully make a video soon! Cheers :)
Love your vidéo

Can you burn wood in oil stove

mon feu est beau au début (bleu)et change de couleur (jaune) apres 8 heures de'usage ?
Essaye de garder le régulateur sur une ou coche plus bas.
En chauffant, l’huile peu couler plus vite causant une flame trop grande (jaune)
Gotta warm up that flue before starting your fire
Chim-in-ee?
Haha ;)
Can you pm me super awesome video
That was a waste of time
