Hi Theo!!! Your solver development and programming videos are very useful, thanks a lot for that. Here the Documents folder of Windows and virtual Linux system are different, I think. The Documents you see on Windows tool bar is for Windows while the Documents folder you access through terminal in Virtual Linux is for Virtual Linux only in mnt/c/users. You can't simply access it through GUI of Windows. Most of the things of Virtual Linux or WSL (Windows Sub-system for Linux) are accessible through terminal only. However, if you install WSL properly, not just Ubuntu/debian from MicrSoft store then you can little bit GUI in Networks option of Window side bar to access Linux. I think you are using Debian , I have never used it, so may be I wrong here in such case, explorer.exe command is good option, but everything happens more or less virtually only
Thanks after copying the files to documents as you showed I was finally able to run the simulation. I still don't really understand what I'm doing though :'| Before that I was getting this error "FOAM FATAL ERROR: (openfoam-2212 patch=230110) The parent directory does not allow write permission to the process, or one of the directories in "/usr/lib/openfoam/openfoam2212/tutorials/incompressible/icoFoam/cavity/cavity/constant/polyMesh" did not allow search (execute) permission. From bool Foam::mkDir(const Foam::fileName&, mode_t) in file POSIX.C at line 596." I hope this helps somebody like me who tries to run it from /usr/lib/openfoam/ ..........
Hey Theo, I have already installed Ubuntu using 'WSL - - install' command, everything seems okay except whenever I try to create a folder in the Ubuntu subsystem in File Explorer, it keeps saying 'You need permission to perform this action'. I have installed OpenFOAM on a Linux subsystem such as Ubuntu before, and I recall being able to freely add/remove files and folders via File Explorer. Any idea how I can resolve this?
Thanks a lot for your very helpful videos! Thanks to you, my understanding of OpenFoam has greatly improved!
Thanks :) Yours videos helped me to install openFoam and Paraview, it is really helpful.
