- Argentina World Cup winner Guido Rodriguez will have his medical ahead of a free transfer to West Ham United after agreeing a deal which was broken by Varsky Sports and confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. Bundesliga reporter Florian Plettenberg has confirmed West Ham United have agred a €30m deal with Dortmund for German striker Niclas Füllkrug after Julen Lopetegui pushed for the signing. And Crysencio Summerville should be announced as a Hammers player today after a £35m transfer from Leeds United as Tim Steiden makes his 4th signing of the summer transfer window

Good striker, decent price for someone who’s in his prime and had standout performances in the champions league last season and made impact from the bench for Germany during the Euros. Sometimes you have to buy players for the here and now rather than 20 year olds with potential (which we’ve done anyways with Summerville & Guilherme) so adding a striker of this calibre and style is encouraging to me. Will do a job for a couple of years (length of Lopetegui’s deal funnily enough) and will hopefully bag us 12 goals and I’ll be happy with that as a return.
Top work as always mate half 5 is dedication is unreal. Buzzing for the new season now we’ve finally got our shit together. Just hoping we can bring back European football to the bowl.
Fullkrug has been compared to Teddy Sheringham in his playing style. Not quick, but clever. Good finisher and very good in the air
Fullkrug is unreal…couldn’t agree more, you can’t always plan for 5 years time…our manager is tasked with getting us into Europe in the next 2 years…he needs people who will do the business now
Again, on the fee, it’s a lot, but he had 20 goal contributions last season…do that for 2 years and we’ve had our moneys worth

Nothing is official yet , but we should have money to spend , having not spent anything in January , only the Phillips loan , we only spent the Rice money last summer . I think praise needs to go to Steidten , because this new found ambition has arrived with him . Sullivan has been here long enough, but he's never shown intent before . He threw a bit of money around under Pellegrini , but it was the old scattergun approach

There’s a lot of pressure on the striker we sign as if the plan is to drop Soucek and possibly Ward-Prowse to the bench, although I’m not as convinced JLo will so much with the latter, then we’ll be losing players who contributed 23 of our 60 league goals combined last season. That’s a lot of goals to find throughout the starting 11 somewhere.
For all the criticism either player gets, I think some forget what we’ll be losing from an attacking perspective if either or both aren’t starting as regularly, so JLo will need to find other ways of scoring goals outside of relying on Bowen, Kudus and Paqueta to work their magic.
The upside with Füllkrug is he’s pretty good in the air, so hopefully he can be as effective as what Soucek is from set pieces.
JLo is under pressure to get into Europe in the next 2 seasons so he can get a contract extension. He’s not going to want to take too many risks with signings. He’ll want as much of a sure thing as he can possibly find. He’ll be hoping Füllkrug can the Argentinian midfielder will deliver and be reliable.
We really need to not lose focus on the defence now the attack and midfield is hopefully sorted. It’s all well and good scoring goals, but if you have a defence that concedes 70 goals you won’t be winning many games. And as solid as Kilman is he’s not Superman.
Geo, from a Loppy point of view it’s a great deal, Fulkrug covers his term of term of employment, will be ready to hit the ground running, will assist all our creative players and will allow us to get more out of Antonio as an impact sub. I suspect also there is an angle with Duran and Villa, we can nick him on a free or cut price in Jan. Also forgot to say, reading the German comments on social the BVD fans are sad to see him go and yet excited to see him in the EPL and think we’ve done fantastic business 🎉

The Fullkrug deal makes no sense if we are trying to push Aston Villa to accept our offer for Duran 🤔, we could end up being pushed into signing this player when we really want Duran. Duran wants to join our club as he wants first team football ⚽️ but Duran will feel let down if we don’t push to get this player.

Rodriguez sounds promising, the attacking Colombian midfielder Richard Rios sound seriously existing, 30 euros sound a lot of money for a 31 year old but as others have said, look at Giroud is still banging them in at 37 whilst Kane is also 31 and he cost Munich 110m euros so ... In Steidten we trust ❤❤❤

Cheers for the shoutout Geo. Delighted with all of these players coming in. But there will be more. Its not 1 ST its 2 coming in. There will be another CB and another CM too but more of an 8 style player. So don't rule Fofana or someone similar like Soler just yet. But next week will all be about player sales to open up new opportunities and bedding in new signings. We are building a very physical strong spine of this team with Kilman and new CB, Alvarez/Rodriguez and a new CM like Fofana and Fullkrug and Duran up front will be very hard to shift of the ball. Lots of pace and skill out wide as well. Julen will have lots to play with and flexible options for formations and tactics.
If the incredible fulk bangs in 20 plus next season and consistently scoring what we would lose on sell on we could earn through competition and league position and fanbase merch 😉❤️⚒️⚒️⚒️
Personally I think they might just be looking at squad numbers now, if AWB comes in that makes 8 HG with 1 space at CB for a non HG player, but unless they move on any of the non HG's that fully compliments the number of non HG's as well, they could go with a 24 man squad if 1 of Antonio/Ings move on and Duran comes in as neither him or Guilherme will need to be registered in the squad due to their age, just a thought as it starts to look like a bit of a balancing act now.
Which is ideal for the second half of august, as well as focusing on youth player loans and being ready to jump on an opportunity (let’s say Fofana doesn’t go Milan and we can get him)
I'm happy with these but, this is going to bring up the average age a bit, think the Striker will be a good signing for us, can see him linking the play like Giroud, and hopefully gets better with age
His ‘game’ doesn’t rely on pace at all, which is the thing that tends to go a as you get older so no reason he can’t perform to a high level like you suggest

@@HammersChat I have looked his game management at other team. During his time in Portugal and international level his I'm game management was really good. Wolves from what I can remember he used Adama Toure as impact, both offensive and defensive, when he needed to push teams back 10yards.

It's Sullivan's money, so what do I care, but if WH is sitting at mid-table in December, this move could handicap our winter transfer window. Unless Fullkrug scores 20 goals this season, he has almost no resale value.

low wages (50k) for fullkrug makes that high fee a little more palatable , as you mentioned i think it's his ability to link up the likes of bowen/kudus when we pressure defences under spells of possession is what makes him so attractive
i don't see duran offering much of that at his current age, more suitable playing off the shoulder on the counter - if lop wants that he already has plenty of options imho

U can play them both 4231 that means front 4 will be able to play up the pitch more or 45 1 and control the centre and keep the width 2 cdms just let you keep clean sheets and let your attacking players licence to attack without 10 behind the ball when not in possession
It is a pretty obvious thing to say but, goals are points and if you look at the tables it's obviously the team with the most goals pretty much wins the title. 1 goal equals 1 point give or take....soo using this very dodgy maths , how many goals do you predict is in this team ? .... some more terrible maths says 60 plus goals gets you Europe 70 plus gets champions league.

I don't think the fee is too much for Fullkrug. He's an experienced striker, which is what we've been crying out for and he doesn't rely on pace much anyway, so being 31 is not an issue.
He will be maybe good for 2 seasons so youve lost 20 mil guaranteed

I am not a pundit or anything like that but Kudus and Bowen want to stay, Paqueta won't go anywhere because of allegations. Alvarez is currently injured so I don't think anyone will go at least till January

I am more happy with Fullkrug over Duran just for the mentality thing and he has just done it for Germany. That JLo wants him I'm all for it, we've had elite strikers the manager didn't want or know what to do with and it was a frustrating waste of time and money for all concerned
Fullkrug a tad expensive but if he comes in and scores 15 goals this season and next then money well spent nit the quickest but very good at what he does an his scoring record isn't to shabby
