Actually, the front skirts can be separated. They’re not on ball joints, but if you just cut off the peg in between the two larger circles, you can get them to move independently. I did this with the HG GM Powered, which has the same thing going on. That kit was released in 2006.
I have the same issue with the bazooka. It feels like the handle should have been placed further forward. There isn't enough clearance to fit it into the hand.
I have this my bigger brother gave me its very old and its thrusters move cockpet opens and has double joint knee so it has more then 90 dgree turn and skirts have like seprate ball joints and some other things are different
