I would have liked to hear what these 2 thought of the Sevy and Manaea deals last year. Let's see how the rest of the offseason unfolds - right now this deal in a vacuum is just okay but they Mets still have a lot of $$$ to spend and need to start replacing innings and building depth. This is a good start of that.
If he's the #5 guy in the rotation then yes and if he can give you 30 starts then it is a good deal....pitching is expensive...DeGrom got paid in Texas and has 41 innings in the last 2 years....i know it isn't NY but nothing is guaranteed in baseball
I think what this deals says to me is that. The Mets believe in their ability to get the absolute best out of their pitchers. B) I think it also says the Mets are not spending just to spend.
If you are going to spend that much money on a pitcher with a lengthy record of injuries, why not sign Mike Soroka to a minor-league deal? If he can come back and come close to what he used to be, you will have a steal.
They need one impact arm, Montas doesn't fit that need. If the Mets sign Soto, they won't sign another big player. Soto is too expensive. His contract will drive up their payroll. They only have about 96 million dollars before they hit the luxury tax again, and I don't believe that Cohen wants another 300 million dollar payroll. They longer you go over the tax threshold, the more you are penalized.
So far, the Mets have landed a .187 hitter and a pitcher with an ERA of nearly 5 runs per game. That's a WS caliber team right there to be sure said no one ever.
I remember whe they said the samething about severino and after they saw severino season they were kissing ass franki came out tomyjohn save this comment that i bet that Franky will win 15 games next season
What's the big deal? They are taking a gamble. I'm sure more pitchers will be added to see who shakes out next season. Do you think Stearns signed him to lose games?
I’m not sure about this signing tbh you’re signing a guy coming off a year of having almost a 5 era and injury history even at the back end of the rotation to give him 2 years is a risk.
If the Mets don't get Soto, we are stuck with a bunch of mediocre Dominicans. Siri,, Genesis Cabrera and now Montas. That's a lot of bait for Juan Fish.
Rather than invest in big-name free agents Stearns wants to play to the "wheel of fortune" like last season with Severino and Manaea but not every year is a good year! We need a stellar like Corbin Burnes and Max Fried because with Senga you are not sure to have a starter from the beginning of the season. We aren't doing a market as a team who wants to repeat the past season
Stop worrying about what Cohen spends. He's a 5th starter or perhaps 6th if they decide to go in that direction. If we signed Soto and Burnes, then Frankie, no one would have said anything.
Alvarez will set him str8 just like he did with Menaya and Severino. Montas has nasty stuff

I love when outsiders are wrong.
He sucked with the Yankees. He can't pitch in NY
Pitching is expensive
As always in free agency lol , gotta develop pitching because you will overpay in free agency if you gotta rebuild a rotation via free agency
A .500 pitcher who will give us 5-6 innings per start. Basically a number 4 or 5 starter.
At best
@@jimwertherThis reeks of a dumpster-diving that we are all to use to seeing in the Mets organization.
@jerrscott6373 The difference is this isn't our big move. Don't worry lol.
@@jerrscott6373 🤡
You counter Blake Snell Dodger signing with this?!?! This is why Dodgers will Dodger and Mets will Met

Needed 3. Got one.
Still need three. Montas stinks.
It's almost like it's december 2nd.

Fact check yourself John, the Mets don’t currently have a GM, and may not hire one. David Stearns is the POBO.
The Mets just got their Juan Soto but as a pitcher 😂😂😂😂

Yeah lets go pay 30 plus for 30 year old guys on a pitch count and give you five innings. Soto, Alonso and a deep bullpen should be the focus

SAVE THE MONEY ON SOTO AND GET 3 REALLY GOOD PLAYERS.
Breaking; Mets sign Nino Espinosa
They can have him
In Stearns I Trust.

It's a 1 year deal, opt out after next season
@@bernardking13u think Montas is opting out with his track record? Lol get real
@slapshot68 u never know guy, he can have a season like Manea or Severino.
@@bernardking13 idk was either Manaea or Sevvy coming off an injury(actual question) I know they had down years.
Who ❓🤣🔥🥃
This is signing Andrea Bargnani 2.0
Is it really 15 mil
7.5 after taxes lol
Montas and Senga are not healty trustable so we have to deal already with a rotation with two players who have often problems!
He had 30 starts last year
The Bi Lo Move was to sign Bieber. 17 million for this bum was not the way to go.
This is just pitiful right now. What the heck ?
😊😊
Don't like it 😮😮😮😮

I got a feeling he’s going after crochet
Settle down
Is this 2023 again ?
Montas stinks
Garbage signing
It’s gonna be like this all off season !Dodgers Yankees will get all the good free agents
You should have your own program. Amazing analysis bro

Too much money for a scrap job 😅😅😅😅😅
