Yes I understand how modern technology has improved cordage but there is something special about natural fibre rope even though it doesn't last very long. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
@@sailingduyfken5948 very true and agreed. Glad there are folks like you and the crew of the Duyfken who put in the effort to maintain its authenticity!
Hi Tony you will love, it they are a great bunch of guys and gals . Just go to the museum website, look for volunteers and then state you want to crew on the Duyfken (not general museum volunteers) www.sea.museum/en/support/volunteer You will need a working with children check (easy to get) and then we will teach you all you need to know for free....and you can come as often or as little as you like, mainly sailing Fridays and Saturdays starting again in March. But also voyaging outside the harbour, if you want and special events....did I say for free. I should really come and film some of your boat build ,have you started yet?, cheers Paul Give me an email address
Thanks Bob, you will be happy to know she is still going strong and gets a lot of loving attention. Very popular with the public and sails every Friday and Saturday on the harbour in Summer. I'll say hello to Andrew the Botswain for you, cheers Paul
Messy business. The traditional lines have an unbeatable aesthetic, but watching this gives me more appreciation for my modern cordage too 😅
