When demaris said, it’s a bunch of men thinking that they’re the prize, she perfectly summed up the main problem with dating today. Both Men & women thinking that they’re the “prize” in the relationship is the real issue. If you’re the prize then that means there can only be one Winner, how can you be in a relationship when you think you’re better than your partner & that it’s their job to “win” you. Everything’s way to one sided nowadays, that’s why it seems like a lot of men aren’t putting in effort. It’s not that they want to be princesses they just don’t want to feel like they’re being used lol

Make sure you have a good therapist and somewhere to release that stress. Also having assistance so you can make time for friends or a few minutes away helps your own mental health. Good luck to the both of you! It's challenging but you got this!

As a parent, I just think at every point in their life, you’re going to feel the same way until they’re off on their own. There’s never going to be “the right” time because we will always hold the importance of our kids lives to the same standard and taking ourselves “away” from that at any point in their adolescence, is where the parent guilt comes from. Whether it’s for one night of fun with a sitter while they’re young, or working for weeks straight in their teens. The consistency of always having your parent in reach over anything would be the most important imo.

Shot out to all the parents.
Check in with your family and ask them individually what they need. It’s an awesome thing to hear “nothing you’re doing great” but you may hear a laundry list of complaints. Be open to the feedback and be honest with yourself AND them about the changes you can make to help the relationship and family grow in a positive direction. Recalibrating often helps to get in front of disasters. And you never know what people may need if you don’t ask.

That segment where Rory poured his heart out, I felt that man, especially because I also am going through the same thing of trying to adjust to having a child. You're constantly trying to find the balance and before you know it a years is gone, then two, then three; some things do fall through the cracks and there is no solution to that, you just take each day as it comes and constantly try to find that balance. Now on top of that add the normal curve balls that life just serves up just for the sake of it, it is hard to find stability and that is both mentally and emotionally draining.

Rory having a daughter is the easiest part of my life as Baby boy 😂 she’s always helpful and she’s the only one who doesn’t mind seeing me leave . And she’s the first and usually only person running to the door when I’m back. I always think of the Muslim Vikings or Hunter Gatherers when I leave home. It’s a part of their journey too .

Put yourself in a better PREDICAMENT to succeed? Girl, a predicament is an embarrassing situation. Like saying you were a gifted student when you don’t even know the definition of predicament.

A better predicament is just taking a chance and saying fuck it. Just like a girl who was broke and started selling nudes and now she's worth 3 Ms lol

29:00 Dear Julian - as you get older you will find that that one note - monotone voiced - I don’t care about anything - punch me in the face and I won’t fight back - I refuse to be passionate enough about anything that I’ll fight for it - doesn’t last or work out very well. That works when you’re younger and everyone’s naive BUT as you get older people want to surround themselves with people who care about similar things they care about and that druggy - F it - nothing matters - it’s all a conspiracy- everything’s a joke - attitude won’t continue to serve you. 🤷🏾

38:15 A good example of Rory’s point is Sandler’s character in uncut gems. Man kept putting himself in really bad situations because he was adjusting until someone had to come and just his lifespan for him.

Rory… you love challenging Mal’s point to only redirect the whole discussion. It’s so annoying at this point. Have genuine discourse and stop being the anti-Christ just for the internet. We don’t always need the devil’s advocate on valid discussion. You weaken the authenticity of the conversations

Man, you guys could do a whole episode breaking down the dating/social scene nowadays. The differences in other times (dating apps vs the internet of the early 200s, and before internet), the obstacles that occur to make it worse, etc. The hard part would be keeping Mal or Demaris calm during it lol.

It's not leaving the building but when women say we have toxic masculinity and all that he's accosting me or I have a bf , when you ask for directions or any simple question is wild. We keep to ourselves now. 😂

I think the whole "options" part of the discussion is just a matter of implication vs confirmation. Living with an implication is easier bc there's still room for some deniability. I'd imagine it alleviates some of the preceived pressure to "compete" that comes with confirmation. Room to protect the ego, avoid projection, etc.

I get Mal’s point connecting Me Too to feminism as they both predicate women solidarity, “believe all women”, etc leading to men’s apprehension 1:26:08
