Summer Schedule
Our schedule may vary, but expect a new video every Wednesday. Friday, and Sunday at 11AM Central!
How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a UA-cam channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin.
Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like.
These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
Congrats on buying the VT.looks like a great tool for your farm. Hope the camera is in one piece and not broke.
How Farms Work, I discovered you quite a few years ago and always admired what you do; your profession. Farms are the back bone of our country. I'm glad to see that your subscriber account has grown. i wish you much success. Thank you for providing food for people. A nobel profession to say the least.
Well said
I can never get over the stunning drone shots you get. Beautiful. Keep up the awesome content!
Great purchase for you and the family. Congratulations. You deserve it
Fine piece of machinery may it give you years of trouble free work.hope all keeping well.🇮🇪
Glad to hear the VT is finally yours! Also, can I just take a second to point out how amazing the drone shot is at 6:43 ?? This whole video has amazing shots but I absolutely loved how smooth and picturesque this shot is with the slow fade up to show the hills in the background. Awesome work as always Ryan! Hope tillage is going smoothly!!
Vt does a great job glad its yours now.
Now you definitely need your 4960 for another tillage tractor
Nice to see real hills and real bumps being worked for a change. Watching the near perfect fields in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Southern Wisconsin gets old after a while.
This is videoed in southwestern “Wisconsin” !!!!!
Great news to see you can afford to improve your equipment. Looked like it did a good job.
Huge congrats to u man didn't realize u didn't own it up till now hopefully u can get that mower
keep the intern as well, that looks like a very sweet deal ;)
tbh i thought the VT was already bought. i remember you mentioning it was sponsor type thing. but that was like 4 years ago lol. but good to see you being sponsored by companies. then actually attempting to work out deals to keep the equipment you can use. cause as someone who watches a channel. if the person who not only got paid to use it/show it. but also keeps it. means it something i would look more into as a buyer if i was interested in said equipment.
Well done. Does a good job for you. Stay safe 🏴 hope every one is keeping well.
💪🏻🏴
Great Vlog, Good to know you own the VT, the old disc's were just not cutting it, thanks
Smart purchase cause you know how well it works and there won't be any surprises. Have a good one.
hey Ryan I hope you have awesome thanksgiving
Nice video congratulations on your new purchase looks like it does a really nice job
I haven't seen Hannah in a while. I miss that pretty smile. Hope she's doing well. Ya'll stay safe!
Another great video. Happy Thanksgiving
I love you're videos
I live 4 miles from where the buelingo cow was created! Sheldon, North Dakota!
I would love to help these guys work because it looks fun
how did your deer hunt go,we did good but not great this weekend the best was my great nephew ho is 14yrs old got 2bucks opening morning he was grinning from ear to ear.
Good video Ryan & Travis
Daniel from central Mississippi
Travis looks like he's been stranded on a desert island for the last 6 months. :)
no plans of putting guidance on the 82?
Not yet. It has guidance, just not the suit steer activation
@@HowFarmsWork hey, we didn't activate auto steer on our 9560r but you can go into the armrest command center and bring up a generic program. Our armrest monitor isn't touchscreen but still move around in it with the roller knob and ✔ to select or accept.
Is Hanna going to buy Big Blue for you for Christmas to pull the VT? You have to buy the 4155 and mabey a John Deere 4960 to pull it.
No more JD
If u wanted to could u pull out the jd disco too just to get the top turned then chisel plow and VT in spring
How long do the disc last?
Are we have fun yet wee.
What happened to the KUHN 4810?
Really cool tillage, but no corn stalk bales this year
We got all the stalks made. Travis did that while we were harvesting so unfortunately I didn’t get any footage!
@@HowFarmsWork yea that sucks but this year been so weird for farming with the down corn rain ect
Get your orders in because there might be a huge influx of orders because everyone is ordering because there might be a huge influx of orders... :)
Should off bought the 8rx
👍
How can you have a piece of equipment for that long and not be required to buy it years ago?
8r 235 horse, 4960 225 horse
He’s not going very fast
If you go much faster than what he was you risk damaging the shanks that is on the implement
A VT doesn’t have shanks it only has disks and with a VT it helps to go faster around 7-10 mph
I waited for this moment since the VT came on demo. Congratulations to you Ryan and keep up the good work with the videos in the last few days you came up with fantastic videos and great editing. 🤩
Happy Thanks giving.
Ur doing well building up your plant and machinery. Not easy but piece by piece you'll get there lad 👍
Now just for the lovely 4960
Ryan the video work was fantastic , you really put your heart out to make great videos , hope the VT will bring a good return on the capital
It's awesome that you bought the VT👍😁 it is a great machine and it does a very nice job😉👍
Hey Ryan!! Have a great Thanksgiving!!
Hey Darrin! Have a great week!
Yay some 8235r footage love the vid keep up the good work Ryan
Glad to see you got the camera. Cool video! Thank you and happy Thanksgiving
At least they waited for good market prices before they asked you to buy it 😄
Now we are talking 😊😊
Well congrats on your purchase. Seems like a pretty good tool for what yall are doing. SO yall are putting down anhydrous again? Not happy with the non-anhydrous fertilizer program yall had last year, or just looking to save some money? Kinda curious about the reasons for switching back... Might think about making some camera lanyards so even if the camera pops loose from the implement, it can't go too far... doesn't have to be anything real fancy, just a loop of string or twine around the toolbar or other stout part and tied around the camera mount... if the camera pops loose it will just "safely" dangle there until you see it and can get stopped... certainly better for the camera than potentially going through a disk blade or other implement pass and being "somewhere in the middle of the field" LOL:) Good luck and nice vidja!!! Later! OL J R :)
Congratulations on the purchase of the vt.
When you do videos like this could you do a comparison of the ground before and after so we can see what the tool is doing? It's hard to see what effect they have from the drone and mounted camera videos. Still loving the videos though.
As a non-farmer really appreciate the explanation of the VT’s purpose. That backed up with the great video made it very clear even for this ole guy. Great job on video shots, editing and music selection...something not sure if peaceful or mesmerizing is the right word ...enjoyable to watch to be sure. Much respect and appreciation for what you and all Ag folks do! Be well.
Noice
Hey guys if you want to see how a wisconsin farm works come on over to South Central Wisconsin Farming. Thanks!!!
Looks like most tillage should be done this fall!
Best photography, drone footage, and editing of any farm channel I've seen. (and that's quite a few!) Good stuff! I award you the "Golden Stalk" award, worth absolutely nothing! :)
Don’t get me wrong because I really enjoy the vids but on the way your guys land lays , I know you don’t like no till but why not some cover crops and work them in with the VT , then in the spring VT it down and go on with planting . All kinds of benefits including erosion control .
That’s old school thinking . The right covers can give you free nutrients , especially nitrogen , which saves money . Reduce weed pressure , saves on chemicals . Improves soil structure . Just a little look into it will intrigue anyone . I’ve been doing it . It does work .
I know you use this as mainly a tillage tractor, but always curious why you have duals set in narrow instead of on 30 center spacing. We see a little less wear from stubble damage when pulling grain cart since wouldn't be on a row anymore
Love the your drone work and you pick great music to accompany. Thanks.
Buy a 4wd.
alwayslovely music tracks you guys use love them
Like the video Ryan and cows and the drone to .
Tillage is so therapeutic.
Great Video.
do you have a 9r
Cool VT😎
Love this channel! Love all the drone footage! You do a killer job!
Hry great video Ryan glad you bought the vt its going to do you doem good
Good Stuff, more non-farm community should watch, see what it actually takes to put dinner on the table. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family.
An ad every 3 min. - UA-cam is getting ridiculous. I hate the fascist money-grubbers at Gaggle
It is probably the Limousin in them if they were anything like our pair or our neighbours but if you want cute relatively laid back cows you want Belted Galloways crossed with something like a Highland or to stay more beefy an Angus
Congrats on the VT! Keep up the good work 👍🏾👍🏾
Ryan, question for u. Is their a way on the VT tool to change the front gang aggressiveness if needed or no? Or any adjustment possible besides the depth?
What do you call that Oreo calf? I thought it was a Belted Galloway, but what you said sounded completely different 😅
Hoping 2021 is better year for you and the family
your tillage is not going very deep some are not even penetrating
Looks like the VT was bouncing out of the dirt quite alot on the rough ground?
Does it run full float?
Ryan, enjoy your videos. Is there any certain model of JD tractors in their line up that they have that you would some day like to demo??
Thanks for the update and great video the drone footage was awesome, it looks like it was gorgeous day for tillage you guys stay safe 👍
Good stuff, well wear on your VT purchase Ryan:):)
First time watching the channel,👍 like the content. Down in Tennessee
Sweet Ryan, it’s always nice to buy something that you have been renting or borrowing from a neighbor
Well I see you went Kitty wampus I hope you know what that means okay let me know
I have been on that land on the other side of the fence from where you were running the vt.
Looks like neighbor has a nice cattle shed
Stay safe and healthy. God bless you all.
Did you know John Deere, the man, was born in VT!!?? Funny
another amazing drone video!
Do you work the soil deeper every few years?
Congrats on the disk
Looks like it does a great job
Good on ya fella. 🤜🇬🇧🇺🇸
Do you have 2 now?
Good job Ryan,
Good stuff
do u guys ever argue on who pays for what ,do u ever get mad at travis how he acts an how horrible he is on running equipmet ,i bet he breaks just about every thing he touches ,an lots of exscusses as to why they broke lol an dad is he the boss be real nice to get a answer ive been watching all your vids since the beging an never have u answered any thing.just saying ,like ure content though thanks
