What I love about B&M is that you can almost guarantee that the ride will be up and running. What good is a coaster you can't ride? Also the fact that they have so much capacity also helps guest experience a lot. I personally prefer a B&M that is open 100% of the time than an Intamin that is always down for one reason or another. Also remember that coasters have a limited life, we are starting to see many parks choose to re-track their B&Ms and that will be enough to keep them busy for years.
B&M coasters generally aren’t meant to be the super-innovative headlining attraction, they are meant to solidify a park’s lineup. They serve as the “B+” reliable capacity monsters that please crowds and ensure that park goers will experience at least one good ride that day. As long as big parks still exist, there will always be demand for B&Ms.
@@randomtransportguyx4397 yeah, for some parks the headlining attractions are B&Ms, like Carowinds with Fury or Canada’s Wonderland with their three B&Ms. But the majority of the time, they are overshadowed by an RMC or an Intamin.
Every park pretty much needs at least one B&M, even if it’s not the main-est attraction. Everyone will know it’ll be up and running and no one really dislikes them (admittedly I HATE stand ups but every other model who dislikes it)
While B&M may or may not be slowing down, one thing they did amazing was ThE tWiSt & ThE tWiRl! Surely their iconic inversions will last forever 🧚🏻♀️✨😹😁 Spectacular video! Guess we’ll have to wait & see what happens as time progresses 🧚🏻♀️✨🙀
If you wanna reliable coaster, you buy a B&M. I cant remember the last time i went to a park and the B&M even stuttered. Minus Nemesis ofc, but that rides practically gone. Everyone knows that even if not on main street and visible, if the park has a B&M they're getting a ride that day. In my opinion, B&M knows that their products are GP pleasers. Not everyone wants to ride a 200ft hybrid with insane speed and airtime. Whereas minus inverts and some flying coasters, B&M's are rather tame and elegant. Its appeals to everyone whereas some of the newer rides by Vekoma, Intamin or RMC can ultimately be too much for your average joe.
B&M doesn't really need to innovate, their rides are insanely reliable, crowd pleasers, and reliability monsters. What they need to do is make their major ride models (Which they have a ton of, btw) cheaper. They're expensive, and that's the one place I can see where B&M needs to improve. Enthusiasts forget that the vast majority of park goers aren't enthusiasts and don't care that B&Ms don't have the forces of RMCs or Intamins.
Theme parks don't want innovation at the cost of reliability, ride-ablity and thrills. I've been to a few parks where the extreme coasters from Vekoma, RMC, Intimin and B&M. The B&Ms are normally only down for refurbishment or repaint. The others, while more thrilling, are more prone to mechanical breakdowns. And B&Ms are always people carriers, most others can't carry more than a couple dozen at a time. That being said, I do wish they'd come with something innovative and different from their usual fare, but there are way more members of the general population than enthusiast.
I definitely think B&M has a place, but so do the others, and B&M is one part of a larger industry, it can’t be used instead of the more modern innovative manufacturers
I would say that B&M has been innovating quite a bit recently. The launch wing coaster, Family Thrill Wing Coaster, Family multi launch and Surf Coaster show that B&M is innovating with launches, and family coasters, and Im excited to see what else is to come.
in my opinion, gertslauer is probably my favourite, the 2 rides i have been on, the smiler and saw the ride, have been some of the best i hae ever been on and they consistently make brilliant coasters to this day...
Pipeline is awesome. One of my favorite coasters by far. I also like Mako and Kraken is still fun and stands the rest of time. But Pipeline gives so much airtime.
B&M’s innovation has dipped since the turn of the millennium. Their reliability is there, but their need to innovate and keep up with the competition is important.
Yeah, they need a new model badly... I can't believe after all this time, they finally decide to do a "new model" and it's a re-work of their classic stand-up lol... Innovation is definately not B&M's strongsuit. Though I must admit... what they do they do well.
From a park's perspective B&M have the most reliable coasters in the business. Intamin and RMC have issues with reliability. Reliability is extremely important to parks because no one likes a ride that's down. I'm not convinced that B&M's problem is innovation, I think it's more saturation. Their rides are everywhere.
This would be interesting... If they took a old invert and put 3 different trains on it... Like a suspended train.. a wing and a flyer... It's a stupid idea but I'm hi.. great video
I hope B&M stays around i hope they stay in business. They make such great rides if they did go out of business all of there current coaster would probably still stay in operation
The biggest issue facing B&M is that nearly half their coasters are coming up on their expiration dates. Add to that fact that B&M has fallen behind the curve of innovation and you got a real disaster in the horizon.
I get shit on for this all the time but I hate B&M flyers. I think they are boring once you're off the lift hill and VERY uncomfortable when you're hanging on the brake run for however long it takes to load the train ahead of you. When I rode Vekoma's Flying Dutchmen flyers, I was blown away. I loved them. My biggest beef with B&M is once they got a stronghold, everyone started moaning how rough anything else was. I'm team Intamin all the way however, I absolutely loved B&M's wing coaster. Gatekeeper was amazing, coming off the lift hill and having nothing beneath you while you twist into the first drop was a fantastic feeling.
@@darkwhale-og9ig Son? I'm 55 years old, man. I really have no intetest in hanging into a harness for 5 minutes or more until the crew can load the train ahead of the one I'm in. RMCs and newer intamins never make me sick no matter how intense they are but B&M wing and dive coasters give me a giant headache and make me nauseous. Not sure if it’s related to them not innovating as much or not.
I would like B&M to stay but it’s not looking good. Coasters are going to be around for a while but B&M is not doing well. Intamin’s turn they make smooth rides now. I think intamin will make more Hypers and gigas
I love and hate B&M, they have some of the best coasters like raptor and then you look in the same park and you have rougarou which is one of the worst coasters of all time imo
Remind me to come back here after I ride an RMC. I've ridden Piraten which is an ejector airtime machine and I have multiple B&M loopers over it. (I prefer positives)
I don't think Emoticono understands what the word objective means. Also, having a guy bust on RMC and then ADMIT he's never actually ridden one? So unbelievably pointless. RMC hybrids are way more fun than the 15 b&M's I've been on and the top 25 lists of most UA-cam enthusiasts agree with me.
With the word objective in this context, I approach it as, they are successful for the GP, parks and enthusiasts. They are fun, reliable capacity monsters that satisfy pretty much everybody
This variety criticism is nonsense imo. You can apply such a criticism to literally every manufacturer, which makes it a rather moot and unnecessary point to make. You look hard enough and you'll undoubtedly find the same types of elements from Arrow to Arrow, Intamin to Intamin, RMC to RMC, and even Vekoma to Vekoma. People are so prone to negativity bias that they'll make a complaint out of anything because they can, regardless of how valid it actually is.
When I was talking about variety, I meant it in the sense that parks might not be able to continue to buy as many B&Ms as before, since there’s a smaller quantity of ideas for interested parks that don’t already have one of that model to choose from.
My issue with the variety wasn’t that it wasn’t hugely present, it’s that it wasn’t present at all, even between models. Different Intamin models have their thing that they stick to, but half of B&Ms have the same few cookie cutter elements in the majority of their models and have a minuscule portfolio of anything without a lift hill, whereas Intamin or Mack for example have that lower variety within their models and have a bunch of different launch types, such as hydraulic, LSM or powered coasters. Sorry if this was a little ranty, but that’s basically why I thought it was a valid point (Also, little note, I wasn’t sure how long I had so I initially planned more than just the lack of variety for my argument, might make a full version for my own channel)
It significantly hurts Emoticono's credibility on B&M's when he doesn't seem to have a lot of actual ride experience from other manufacturer's. Just saying.
I appreciate your comment Coaster Critic, and while I haven't done any RMCs, the closest thing I've done is the airtime powerhouse that is Piraten. I have four B&M loopers over it, but then again I'll have to come back to this video after I actually ride one. My expectations aren't super high though, due to the massive hype trains surrounding RMC.
