Carmen Sandiego Math Detective is a 1998 mathematics learning game for children age 9-12. In this game, Carmen Sandiego has invented the Quantum Crystallizer Machine and used it to shrink twelve famous landmarks into crystals. The user, playing the role of Agent 9, has to thwart her plans and release all the stolen landmarks.
Carmen Sandiego has shrunk famous landmarks into crystals using the Quantum Crystallizer machine, which the player must restore to their full size. The player travels to different hideouts, and plays math-related minigames such as Atom Smasher, Crimewave Sensor, and Microchip Decoder, which when completed provide passwords. Once the player has enough passwords, they can get keys which allow them to free crystals from the machine. The game comes with "over 400 word problems, a strategy guide, glossary of math terms and progress reports". There are 3 levels of difficulty.
The game teaches skills including: word problems, estimation, geometry, equations, modelling, whole numbers, money, fractions and decimals. These are presented as activities that help solve the game's puzzles rather than tiresome, repetitive exercises.
    Stolen Landmarks and Structures
Golden Gate Bridge (San Francisco Bay, CA, USA)
    Angel Falls (Venezuela, South America)
Great Wall of China (People's Republic of China, Asia)
    Roman Colosseum (Rome, Italy)
    Nile River (Egypt, Africa)
    Grand Canyon (Arizona, USA)
    Great Barrier Reef (Australia)
    Petronas Towers (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
    Caspian Sea (Eurasia)
    Mount Everest (Nepal, Asia)
Hubble Space Telescope (Orbiting Earth, Outer space)
    Ayers Rock (Northern Territory, Australia)

Hello Kristen! Wonderful job with this game! Another one that I have loved growing up! I've actually been playing it again on Super Agent (Level 3) and the math is a lot tougher! While you were doing the puzzles, I was trying to solve them along with you (I'm Agent Ten by the way) to keep my brain working! I really love the story for this game! It doesn't give you everything right away or all at once; it's a slow burn that really keeps you in suspense! I love how you receive the case file and the game goes dead silent, or how you are seeing the world unravel with the power drain and are powerless to do anything but try and restore the remaining wonders of the world that are still at large. And the radar that keeps watch for you always makes you feel like you are poking around somewhere you know you shouldn't be!
I also love the naming conventions of the villains. Blona Fuse, Dinah Saur, C.D. Romm, Ferda Lizer, Ann Fibian, and many others. I've always been really amused by that. Another job well done Agent 9! Keep up the great work Kristen, thank you so much for being a beautiful ray of sunshine with your kindness and warmth and a wonderful Queen Bee! Much love to you! :)💕

Thank you so much my sweet friend! Your comments always make me smile and keep me motivated to make more gameplays for amazing people like you! I love the Carmen Sandiego games. Word Detective is my favorite, it’s just like this one but about spelling instead of math and was my first Carmen game. I loved the names of the agents too. Great job agent 10! 🤗

3:14:33 - WTF?! A sentient velociraptor skeleton?! Sure, supernatural beings have appeared in the franchise multiple times (including this game), but there's no explanation for the skeleton.

@@lilbumblebear That, and some V.I.L.E scientists brought it to life shortly before the events of the game. It must've thanked them for it and offered to be a museum guard.

I never knew they made a math one. All I had were the time and geography ones as a kid. This one is totally news to me. Looks like equally fun though.

Just found this channel and want to ask how did you get these games running? I have the discs for a bunch of these old PC games but can't get them to work on modern computers. It's nice to see some sort of spotlight on them in these times!

The old days when Ms. Sandiego was a villain. Never played this game, we had Word Detective, and I think a rerelease of Where in America.
