Lyrics:
Oh we're going to a hukilauA huki huki huki huki hukilau
Everybody loves the hukilau
Where the laulau is the kaukau at the luau
We throw our nets out into the sea
And all the amaama come a swimming to me
Oh, we're going to a hukilau
A huki huki huki hukilau
What a beautiful day for fishing
That old Hawaiian way
Where the hukilau nets are swishing
Down in old Laie bay
A huki huki huki huki hukilau
Everybody loves the hukilau
Where the laulau is the kaukau at the luau
We throw our nets out into the seaAnd all the amaama come a swimming to me
Oh, we're going to a hukilauA huki huki huki hukilau
Source: One night, in 1948, the composer was suffering aches and pains after attending a hukilau at Laie. He wrote this song, introduced it publicly at a Methodist lu`au in Honolulu and it became an instant success. Copyright 1948 Owens-Kemp Music Co
What fun finding you this morning! I woke up with The Hukilau Song in my mind and wanted to hear it again.
This song popped in my head. I thought it was on the Muppet show...b/c I don't remember just an audio file.
Learn this dance in my kindergarten class
I learned in 2nd grade Catholic school..Miss Gray, who looked like a pinup gal in 1972, taught it to us.
I associate this octave with the Polynesians as in Disney's. But who else was led here by South Park's Satan's Laua?
Ouch. Well that was sign language but not the Hula. It's a very simple dance all kindergartens learn in Hawaii..
