@Peoples Republic of Ninj no matter how you spin it our gov't did nothing to prevent the credit default swaps. In fact, our gov't supported it.
@@OmegaSeraphim Yes they did. Specifically they passed the Dodd-Frank Consumer Protection act in 2010. The act regulates all CDS, and phased out the riskiest ones. The Trump administration pushed ahead roll-backs of Dodd-Frank in 2018, particularly for regional banks. But the core protections against CDSs are still in place.

One thing the Bible gets right is that no man or woman is without sin. We are all corrupt, it's human nature. The two important things to remember are that we are NOT God, and we should make an effort to live decently. To follow sin does indeed lead to destruction, of self and others.

@@UNKNOWN-gr7fe No they wouldn't and they didn't. Even in the smaller BLM protests there were citizens not doing a thing violent that were yanked into unmarked vehicles by unidentified uniformed persons and taken to jail. I didn't like that they tried to pull down a statue and there was a small group that did some graffiti on a govt building... the Treasury I think... but they did not break into the capitol... breaking windows... pushing past a guard armed only with a baton... trashing historical doors to then rummage through the desks of people... etc... not to mention someone ending up shot... and a bomb at one of the office buildings. With the BLM marches I also think that anyone that actually destroyed property should be arrested. They weren't trying to disrupt and overthrow a Democratic process though. Honestly I was shocked the Capitol police didn't use more force to keep them out... but I'm also glad they didn't. It would have turned a mob into a bunch of martyrs. I may not agree with these people but I didn't want to see them shot. It's scary though that it would have been the perfect opportunity for some terrorist to have just gone in with them and blown them and everyone in the building up. Maybe you don't like Biden... and hey he wasn't my optimum choice either. But we desperately need someone calmer and less disruptive for awhile to get things running again. And hey... if in 4 years the GOP has pulled themselves back together and find a good candidate... one better than Biden. I'll vote for them. I'm a moderate Independent. I don't care about the parties. But they need to find someone a whole lot better than Trump... like a Reagan (1st term). Do I blame those that did the damage? Yes to some extent because no one forced them to act like that. However I do think many of them believed in what they were doing.... But it is based on lies they were told over and over and over. In addition to Trump I blame those that supported his lies even when they didn't believe them just to humor him. By doing that some of those people today believed Trump's lies even more because those people backed him up but only for their own benefit. In the end though it is always wrong to put any single man above our country. Waving a Trump flag? Never. There's a good reason our Presidents face re-election after 4 years and may or may not serve another 4 at most.

People never hear him correctly that how we know it sage. He never said storm the Capital and provke havoc.
I don't think expected the mob to storm the Capitol, I think he expected them to disrupt proceedings and create a media spectacle by chanting and shouting outside. His actions were hugely reckless given his position and status with his followers. He was playing with fire and if he didn't realise what could happen then he's a fool. Either way, he's not fit to hold such an office of power and responsibility.
I think it was the part where he said, "We’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Ave. ... and we’re going to the Capitol,” “We’re going to try and give our Republicans - the weak ones because the strong ones don’t need any of our help - we’re to try and give them kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country." This video doesn't have that part. And Rudy Giuliani said, "let's have trial by combat." It started out peacefully. But then it got rough as they tried to go up the stairs of the building, past barricades and inside. I'm not surprised that Trump's supporters listened to him. One thing's for sure, we need to revamp our electoral process. The American people are entitled to elections that are 1. Secure, 2. Transparent, and 3. Accountable. I think we have a lot of room for improvement. I don't necessarily agree with the Republicans, but definitely think they have a right to their opinion and to voice it publicly. I think a lot of people, organizations, corporations and billionaires have had their fingers on the scales at every step of our political process, for decades, and it's one of the big reasons our country is in the place it is now. We need to clean house, clean up our processes, but we need free thought and free speech to get to the bottom of things. It shouldn't be forbidden for people to contest an election, through the courts, or through protesting -- but I think you need evidence. We need an electoral system that produces evidence. We need to get rid of these proprietary software programs that nobody can look into -- they're not transparent, and they're not accountable. I understand the Trump campaign exhausted all recourse through the courts, so that should be it -- the election is over. However, I totally understand and respect their right to disagree with the rulings of the courts, as long as they do so civilly.

@@bjappleby1 So now "charging up" (whatever that means) is a criminal offence? Imagine for a moment it was Martin Luther King asking people to peacefully assemble - oh wait, this DID happen, and not only he asked to assemble, he asked them to _march_ to Washington. Hmm, what if it was Obama or Biden who asked to _peacefully_ make your voices heard? And let's say there were some criminal elements involved in the resulting gathering (as there frequently are?) I can just picture CNN getting all over themselves accusing Obama or Biden for "sedition" if this took place - no? And why not? I'm leaving aside the recently found details about the Capitol attack, like that it was in planning for a while, before Trump said anything. And it was organized using Facebook and Twitter, both of which, curiously, are still allowed to operate (imagine that!) while their competitor called Parler got banned for some mysterious reason. See, this is the sort of thing, the sort of bad faith, that turns people off to Democrats today. Instead, what they should have done in January 2017, was to say: "we disagree with Trump on this or that but we're going to work together on things that _can help Americans"._ This is in fact exactly what Bernie Sanders said: I'll work with him if the cause is right (words to that effect) but he immediately was told by the DNC to shut up, so he never said that again. And if Democrats helped Trump, instead of attempting a coup d'etat, we'd already have universal health care now (Trump privately thinks the single-payer system is best for America, this is according to Larry King who has known Trump for decades). No politician is perfect, the bottom line is that what Democrats started in 2016 in order to avoid whatever dangers they perceived in Trump was and is _infinitely worse_ than any danger represented by Trump himself. That's the problem. The rest is just squabbling.
@@JanPBtest albeit, you are correct this sort of thing happened in the past. It was proven many times there was no foul play in the election, yet Trump continued to push against the votes because he wanted to win.
It isn't fair to compare the two. King wanted unity among men, Trump wanted men and women of different race, color, and status turned against one another. That is seen with the wall he was building.
Lastly and this is purely for me, I love the inauguration ceremony. The idea of one handing the torch onto another and saying to the "make me proud, my successor". @@halestorm_01 We cannot accuse people simply based on the _intent_ we presume they had. Supreme Court ruled unanimously in a very similar case in 1982 (NAACP v. Clairborne Hardware Co.). NAACP activists were making public speeches asking to boycott white businesses. This resulted in (as it frequently does, sadly and unintentionally) in some of those businesses being attacked (looted). One of those businesses tried to sue NAACP for inciting violence and the Supreme Court said no, this is not how "inciting" works. There was another case (the details escape me, too lazy to search right now) in which Supreme Court defined more precisely what "incitement" is, legally: it would have to be an immediate, direct, danger. Meaning, Trump literally standing in front of the crowd near the Capitol building yelling "Chaaaarge!" or something of that sort. My conclusion is that all that stuff will come to nothing, because of the established legal precedents. It's all just bare-knuckled power struggle. Weird to see this sort of thing right there in the open.

"our countries had enough, we will not take it any more!"
"we will stop the steal!"
"we have come to demand that congress do the right thing!"
"everyone here will soon be marching over to the capitol building (to peacefully) and patriotically make your voices heard"
"our country has been under siege for a long time"
mentioning the word "peacefully" once to a crowd that you just riled up with violent terminology does not mean you didn't encourage the violence. He then later says they're patriots after the riot, and only days later finally condemns the actions.
@@theresalwaysanotherway3996 My point is that none of this will hold up in court (unless the Supreme Court reverses its _two_ rulings on the matter). Also, the "shoe on the other foot" remains: if it was Obama or Hillary Clinton or Biden saying the same thing, we would not have this conversation. Just like Hunter Biden's hard drive: the issue simply won't exist in the media (because this is a _media-manufactured_ issue done at the request of certain power centers who feel very threatened by any sort of outsider figure, be it Sanders or Trump; look at the media reaction to the recent Wall Street GME debacle - same thing).
