Cloths pins are super savers! I want to point out that watching your videos has inspired me to start becoming organized. At the moment I am a clutter bug but now I want to simplify my home and these videos have given me the motivation to do so. Especially living on a small budget!

We have used clothes pins for EVERYTHING, for generations too!
Also if you want to add some fun to your salts, you can put it in a snaplock bag with a couple of drops of food coloring and essential oils shake it up, put it back in the container and let it air dry over night, then pop your brushes back in to your brightly colored and scented salts. :)

Oh, we are SO clothespin users!! I use them for everything! However, I have embraced the stairs. I frequently say that "My inefficiency keeps me trim!" All those trips up and down and up and down truly are good for me!

I'm so glad I found your channel! To me organization just means knowing where everything is but your videos have taught me otherwise.
I never used clothespins and don't have them around, but next time I need clips I'll just buy those instead. We used to put all the stuff to go upstairs on the stairs haha, really ugly and probably a fire hazard

Clothespins are great for all kinds of things. They are stronger than most "chip clips" available in stores. You can also cover them with washi tape, or let the kids decorate them with markers or paint. Binder clips work well, too! I often clip mail or a return receipt to my purse, to be sure I will see it as I leave in the morning. Love your videos and great ideas!

my family has also been using that magnet-on-washing machine, like, forever! when me and my two brothers were kids, it was our job to load and unload the dishwasher. we had three letters there: L, T & H, from our first names (Zinetha is not my real name, my name is Laura), always one at the top, the one whose turn is was then, and two at the bottom. the person on the top would unload the clean dishes, load the dirty dishes and then change the position of the letters for the next person. when a person used dishes, they put them straight away to the dish washer. so the unloading+loading had to happen quite much right away, so dirty dishes wouldn't pile up.
then me and one of my brothers moved from the house to study, and my parents changed the system, now it's kinda like yours, one letter for dirty, one for clean. we're Finnish, so the words aren't dirty and clean, they're the Finnish equivalents, L for likainen and P for puhdas. :)
the crap basket is a great idea! though i live in a one-bedroom apartment, it will be a lot easier to get stuff in right rooms with a basket, where i throw everything and then go thought the apartment one room at a time in the evening.

Our tip for clean/dirty dishes is that as soon as we dump the clean dishes we fill up the soap. So if there is soap the dishes are dirty.

I had a basket actually made to sit on the stairs, at the end of every day I would haul it up put things away and sit it back on the stairs to grab on my way down the next day. It was on of the most useful things I ever bought well except for the Ranch house we have now with 0 stairs.

We have always used clothespins to close chip bags, pasta, rice, etc. My friends use to think my family was so weird, like totally, because every time they came over for 'movie night' (on the VCR, of course) all of our snack type foods had clothespins on them...they were use to those big, plastic clips that said CHIP CLIP on them...When my son was little, we use to paint & embellish them for gifts for his Nana, Grandma, babysitters & daycare workers. Some we would put magnets on the back and you could use them to clip artwork, recipes, shopping list & calendars to the fridge : ) Carson is just too, too cute! And so well behaved...you're such a great Mommy to him!

we have always used pegs (I think you called them clothes pins) for keeping our bags closed, we also velcro our remotes to some CD cabinets we have (our TV is on the wall) and I also love your dishwasher tip! I am really not an organised (or tidy) person but I'm trying to become more organised! I play the recorder (various ones), the flute, piano and I sing so I have music all over the place (well, not anymore because I use magazine racks to store them in - and sometimes draws, for the music I don't use often). I also write poetry and children's stories so I have a lot of notepads - I've started storing them in drawers. I'm a mucky pup (as we say here in the UK), but I am trying to be better - honest lol! Thanks for your videos (I like Alejandra's too)

Yes!and you can get a package of different size binder clips at DT for a buck! I use them for everything....corralling headphone cords, keeping power cords handy but out of the way in the kitchen, organizing coupons for a specific store, and store receipts by store in my purse. The mini ones hold a lot and if you put the clip on the side, you can flip the receipts and still have them all together! On,y remove the ones you need. They work great to use in a box with not side opening. Just paint the clip and add it to the top edge and tie you label to the clip.

Fun video. Am a bit amazed by the amount of post-it notes you keep. Best organizing rule: don't buy too much / too many! This supply is for many years to come and only takes up space. The clothespins we use like since forever. Chips not all eaten? Clothespin. Macaroni left in the plastic bag? Clothespin. Great idea to hang up the remote control at the back of the tv! Don't get the clean/dirty sign, since our dishes actually look dirty when not cleaned yet.

We use binder clips, which I got at the $ store, to close bags but when I run out I get frustrated. I have over 100 cloths pins in my drawer from a craft project. I don't know why I never once thought to use them in stead of or when I run out of the binder clips. Duh moment for me. Thanks for the tip.

Yup. I’ve always used clothes pins to seal up my bags. I usually fold in the corners, then fold the bag down, I think it helps seal better. I usually use Japanese plastic ones, they are much sturdier, plus they are pretty colors. I get mine at Daiso, do you have that store near you? It’s my favorite Japanese “dollar store”. Plus their plastic containers are much nicer. Thanks for the organizing tips.

We have always used clothes pins...works great! Nice video...love the tips :) I have a stair basket. I don't remember where I got it, but it is shaped exactly like the stairs and fits perfectly. The top part of the basket sits on the stairs, and then it "stair steps" down. Hard to describe. Hi! Just wanted to say how much i enjoy your channel! Also i too was seeing white powdery stuff when i was using rice in my makeup brush containers. After closer speculation those "white powdery sticky stuff" turned out to be mold mites!! Yes mold mites!!! once i threw out all the rice and got rid of everything that was covered in them the mites disappeared. But yes i would definitely encourage people to stay away from rice especially in the bathroom where there is a lot of moisture.

So I'm watching this video and I see hour remote looks just like mine and I pick it up, not knowing what tip you're about to show and WOW! I already had my velcro on! Lol. Sorry, I ran out of writing space. As I was saying you just made a poring spout for your bag of beans. When the bag is empty just take off the cap and use it on another bag. This works on just about any food bag. You can even create you own reusable bag by cutting off the zipper on a plastic freezer zip bag and putting the cap on that and putting what you want in it, except liquid of course. I was wondering why you used Epsom salts for your brushes instead of the sand you can find at Dollar Tree? Anyway, I hope this helps. I have tons of other ideas if you are ever interested. I just noticed Carson is getting so big. Take care, Dee😊

My husband used to have about 5 remotes at his chair (aka, Command Post) and he used the velcro on the remotes to attach them to a leg or the side of his lamp table. Let's see, there was the TV remote, the cable, the VCR, the ceiling fan and at least one more fan on the floor facing him (he had serious hot flashes). And I like the electric cords you hid in the tube; bet I could do that with a Pringles type can and some sticky shelf liner or just paint it. Sometime when you get a chance, Kathryn, show us what you'd do with the empty dental floss and TicTac boxes (reuse as pill boxes?) or what. Thanks!!

I've used clothes pins too, but I like various sizes of binder clips and they are smaller to stash away.

I havent scrolled down to see if anyone else has commented this so if so, I'm sorry...
Another unusual but super cheap/free way to close bags is taking the clothes hanger that have the little clips on the ends and breaking the clips off and using them. You get the hanger free when you buy clothes at the store and get 2 bag clips out of it.

I use a big paper clip or a rubber band for opened bags. For longer storage I seal shut with tape.

Love all the useful advice on organizers and really love the C.S. Lewis quote. When I get my new home, I wanna put that on the wall. Where did you find that?

We always used clothes pins growing up - Mom let us write with sharpie things like "Chips" or "Grits" to indicate what they should close. Didn't last - "grits" was always clipping the chips bag :) I didn't care but it drove Mom crazy!
