I've been away from KPOP for a while, but I've seen both sides of the argument long enough in the past to know that BI is not to be blamed. He makes their music and lyrics, yes, but time on screen? He does not control the cameras, nor does he control YG. From what is shown from V-lives, interviews, etc, he cares about the members and their ability to shine - iKONICs know this, new ones should always learn this too. ;)

The reason why iKON songs are usually "Double B and the rest" is because they always have a rap portion and a vocal portion, and the rap portion has to be divided between just 2 people --> lots of lines, and the vocal part has to divided between *5* people --> less lines. This is the same thing with 2ne1 for example, where they have 1 rapper for the entire rap part --> *lots* of lines. It's just the nature of Kpop songs that they always have a rap part, soo yeah, not much to do about the distribution
But the rap part is basically half of the song for both B-DAY and BLING BLING ( and a lot of their songs is B.I,Bobby,Jinhwan, & friends).
I feel like iKON is a group that really focus on the rap.
So what's YG logic in debuting a 7 members group with 5 vocals and just 2 rappers if the group is more focus on the rap ? I don't think it's really fair for the vocal line to have to divide 1.30 minutes in 5 and the other half of the song just for B.I and Bobby.
Donghyuk,Yunhyeong ,Chanwoo especially need more lines. They didn't go through WIN and M&M just to be iKON backup dancers . They earned their lines.
Of course I don't have anything against the boys but their line distribution really sucks.

I have listen to the album .Maybe I was wrong saying that they are a group that focus on rap,and I apologize.
But YG sure focus on B.I and Bobby. It's no wonder that a lot of casual listeners can only name B.I,Bobby and Jinhwan.
But what I mean is that in alot of their songs( not all their songs) the rapper line is always the one that has most of the lines.Followed by Jinhwan and Junhoe. Especially in these 2 new songs where half of the song is just them.
And I wasn't trying to explain Yg's logic for debuting 5 vocals and 2 rappers.I was actually asking why debut 2 rappers and 5 vocals when for now the majority of the time the songs are sang by rapper line and mostly Jinhwan and Junhoe.The other 3 need their lines too.
I just think that for a group is important to showcase all the members ( especially in the title tracks, the ones that even non fans listen to) and not just some of them.
And yes, I can't wait for the day that iKON will have a more equal line distribution.
I agree actually, I think a 3:4 rapper-vocal ratio in a 7 member group would be better for the distribution. YG's style is definitely rap orientated, even more so in their title songs. So it would be nice to have a more vocally focused title song next time, but this formula does seem to work for iKON.

that's cool, but if you're going to give Hanbin and Bobby the most lines, don't put them in the center for half the song. BI is a good dancer, but Donghyuk and Jinan are the main/lead dancers and could have been in the center instead. The iKon members are all good dancers, but Bobby isn't even a 'dancer' (if you get what I'm saying lol) his main role is to be a rapper.
BANGTAN SHOOKYEODAN FT. SHOOKJIN Yeah, so if rap is the dominant trait for iKON maybe they should've fixed the rapper to vocalist ratio. It looks like the rappers are overwhelmed and the vocalists are given barely any lines...
Winner's Seunghoon is the main vocalist and must be worn out considering he's getting a lot of the vocals that would've been for Taehyun. Call me crazy...but maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to move a vocalist from iKON to Winner??
Bigbang probably has the best formation (2 rappers, 3 vocalists) out of YG boy groups. I feel like they were being too ambitious with Winner and particularly iKON.
And before anyone starts swearing at me, this is my opinion and not made to bash anyone. I'm worried about the rappers being overworked and vocalists being in the background too much.

Probably not the best example and kind of the reverse situation, but bts has 3 rappers yet all of them get a decent amount of lines with enough left that Jungkook somehow still has the most lines XD. (you can ignore that, ikon has 2 rappers) Basically, if they didn't do the whole one member per one section of the song, more lines could be shared. For example in What's Wrong, there wasn't really a particular order of the members. But for blingx2 the order was like: BI, Jinhwan, Donghyuk, Yoyo, Bobby, BI, Bobby, June, Jinhwan, Bobby, BI, Chanwoo, and then technically BI. Each member has a clear part assigned to them (I can practically memorize their order in Rhythm Ta) or does the same part of a song (chorus, verse, etc). Imo, if they didn't do that, like in WW then the distribution would be more fair.
So DK will comeback with 2 groups 😂😂😂

If we're talking about "useless" vocalists, we might as well kick Hyoyeon out of SNSD, Jin from BTS, Lay and Xiumin from Exo, etc. It's impossible to make a line distribution where all the members get the same amount of lines, especially in a hiphop group.
Bogi I think what they're saying is that it's basically unnecessary to have so many vocalists only to not use them while the two rappers get more than half the song to themselves. Monsta X is considered a hiphop group and they split the lines up just fine.

this happens a lot with yg groups (COUGH COUGH*bigbang* COUGH COUGH) where there are some vocal/ sorta rap lines such as the part between all of the waeng waeng waeng parts junhwan did some of those parts. but its just whatever. we can't stop them

YG changes the lines distrubution if he wants to. Big Bang has said it before in where Gdragon has given more solo lines to Seungri but YG said no and told TOP or GD to take over. As defiance GD still has Seungri singing but GD and TOP sing with him as well. GD defended his stance saying the lines were exclusively made for Seungri but in the end he had to sing along Seungri in order to get the song approved. YG gives more spotlight to those he favors Hence CL, GD, KSY get most lines in their songs
I agree but these are also hype songs with lots of rap in it so it makes sense to me why they have so many lines what I hope ikon comes out with is some vocal songs so others can shine as well

For those that are complaining about the line distributions, it seems like you didn't even listen to all iKON's songs. If you did then you would know that depending on the type of songs, the rap and the vocal lines differ from each songs. There are more ballad and pop like songs where the vocals get more lines but I don't see you complaining about that.

Of course they would, there are only two rappers that can rap. iKON doesn't only have songs like this. On their debut album, they only had two songs with hip hop vibes but the rest of the album has songs where the vocals shine.

Yeah it's obvious anyway that Double B would get the most part, however I think this comeback is wayyy better than their debut. At least we could see each member and Chanwoo not only just nananana. I'm glad for that. Compared to their debut song, where I was waiting for other members part or maybe their screen time, I think this is better. At least I don't feel like I'm missing out any member.
Okay so I’ve seen all of iKon’s line distributions and I know all their positions in the group so what I don’t understand is why B.I is getting the most lines in all the songs even tho, Bobby is the main rapper, Ju-ne and Jay are the main vocals??? I also heard in an interview that B.I is the one that gives everyone their parts
It's sad to see how in a 7 persons group, B.I even has 22 seconds more than Bobby (who has a good amount of lines). And not talking about 61 seconds VS 7 seconds for 3 of the members.

Although donghyuk has one of the least lines, he is one of the more known singer in the ikon. He went to a show w June and bobby and sang there. However, yunhyeong is not well known still. Idky man I rly like yunhyeong voice and I feel like he could have taken some lines from June since he has that voice of power.

For those saying ikon's line distribution sucks or its 'double b and friends again' If you look at it in their position perspective this is a fair distribution.
Ikon is a hiphop group and that itself explains why hanbin and bobby almost always gets the most lines. The lines of both rappers are fairly distributed. And the two main vocals, junhoe and jinhwan. Their position gets the second most amount of lines and between the two of them it is also fairly distributed. And the sub-vocals, yunhyeong, chanwoo, and donghyuk, also obviously gets a fair amount of lines.
Basically their line distribution is based on their positions and we can definitely say it is FAIRLY DISTRIBUTED.
