Good technical insight explaining how from the bottom needlefish look like bunker, I once read an article by Toby lapinski saying the same thing how most of the time the bass will ambush from below and only see the bottom of the bait so from that perspective they look just like an adult bunker
Im looking at your retrieve and in my opinion thats way to fast ! Slower with a small pick up of the rod . Pause let it fall back then start cranking again! Most hits come on the pause!
Was night fishing on a rocky beach and was just crawling the needlefish right off the bottom…consistent slot stripers every other cast for an hour and a half, and I agree a slow, SLOW retrieve and if u want mix in some “bumps”. I didn’t even use any taps, just swimming it slow and straight but if it works, it works!

Glad we think alike he is an amazing fisherman!!
Lovely series of retrieves.. lovely to see on all plugs... KINDLY KEEP THEM COMING.. VERY INFORMATIVE
Thanks!
Thank good job buddy ,excellent information, stoked Redondo Beach, CA....
As others have mentioned, this is a correlation on what's on when try to fish a needle.
I like the idea of the floating needle fish when you need distance in the boulder fields or shallow water.

BOOM!
Very insightful, lol
Tight lines!!
I found using the walk the dog retrieve with the floating needlefish on the shallow edges of jetties is very effective
Best needlefish I’ve used is by far the Maine-iac chubby needlefish. I’ve had nights where that’s the only thing I can pull fish on.
I have heard good things about them.
Do you mostly use the floating model or the sinking models? If sinking, do you like the fast sinking one or the slow sinking one?
needles are my go to. Al Gags 7" is my favorite needle. no longer made. needles are a versatile lure if you take the time to learn how to fish it.
24/7 Lures uses the old Gags for their lures, their 7" needle has been great this year for me. Not too many slow sinkers out there
What braid brand and test do you use on open beach?
30 pound Maxcuatro
Can you talk about glide baits? What brand(s) you use, where/when you use them, where/when you dont use them?
Will do! Thanks for the idea!!
Did you get the extended foot for the 150? People complain about clearance for their knuckles.
No I haven’t had too much of an issue with hitting my knuckles but it definitely happens.
What about color when it comes to needle fish
good job thank you
Do you like super strike plugs.
Yes they make amazing plugs that catch big fish!

I was just trying to go over the basics but that is definitely a great way to retrieve them.
