Giant Hogweed control with a Scythe

- Long ago in the Russian hills a Victorian explorer found the regal Hogweed by a marsh, he captured it and brought it home to London and made a present of the Hogweed to the Royal Gardens at Kew.
Fashionable country gentlemen had some cultivated wild gardens in which they innocently planted the Giant Hogweed throughout the land. Soon they escaped, spreading their seed, preparing for an onslaught, threatening the human race. They seem invincible: immune to all our herbicidal battering.
But, strike by SCYTHE, and they are defenceless: but wear PPE as they use the sun to photosensitize their venom!
(text adapted from song lyrics “Return of the Giant Hogweed” by Genesis)
First person scythe action for fortnite followers from 3:35 - Навчання та стиль
His voice sounds like those narrators in disney movies
I can also see nation geographic/animal planet
Drake Steel and here is the elegant... plant. I will now chop it with my scythe
It does 🤣
he should totally narrate documentaries
This is definitely not funny, dummy! Do not try getting exposed to it.
3:59 I laughed so hard at this thank you so much
The shotgun def caught me off guard lol
Scythe man is back in business! You love to see it!
Mr Brown! You handle that scythe like a man on a mission... truly an inspiration. Best content I’ve seen today 🙌
Breaking Bad
I genuinely learned a lot from this clip about Hogweed that I never knew. Those gunshots in the end just completed this masterpiece!
I’ve waited for this moment so long
Why
Ive been waiting for you for so long
@@dhdhsheejrj He hadn’t uploaded in a while mate.
@@colonelsanders1349 All this time had passed him by.
@@Womberto It doesnt seem to matter now
Love the shotgun sound effects.
"Scnicking"? Premature commentary- I thought a clever observation would help, so I began typing part way into your saga. If I had only waited to the end of this great video, I could have avoided the total embarrassment of exposing my ignorance of Lewis Carroll's brilliance. Thank-you, I think.
* Scnick. I have added the letter c here to snicker-snack to create an onomatopoeic verb to scnick: to slice or sever with a scythe (as opposed to with a ‘snickersnee’ = a large sword-like knife, especially one used as a weapon). Pronounce as Schnitz (cut, slice - as in Schnitzel), and as the sound of a scythe blade slicing through vegetation.
Richard Brown dang your cool
Richard Brown hi
@@wildseed01 glorious videos
Me in Biology and Geography: SLeeps
Me when i see this guy talking about plants: IM WIDE AWAKE
He came back when we needed him the most
This man is a G. Show us how to sharpen your beloved apparatus of Just destruction!
I don’t know how I found this Channel but goddamn I’m glad I did
How satisfying to watch though - the Grim Reaper at work. Let them grow and be impressive until July, then scythe them before the umrellas turn to seed. All without herbicide.
5am and I’m binge watching on this Chanel
these videos are very informative and entertaining. thank you
Holy Crap this is AMAZING!!!
One of the best videos on UA-cam!
I respect Richard Brown. Most other youtubers would resort to some clickbait uploads to take advantage of a video going viral. Not Boomer Brown. He uploads when he has some good scythe action to show you, and keeps his mouth shut otherwise. And now I know how best to deal with a Hogwart outbreak if my garden ever becomes infested.
It's been two months ಥ‿ಥ
Love the video sir! you got nice smooth narration and helpful information for the new generation.
Lovely editing!!! Your battle with hogweed is very enjoyable to watch
Giant hogweed.
Nice one Richard. Informative and funny in equal measure.
Nice video, Mr. Brown. We love watching your videos!
your videos are such a joy to watch, i really hope you make more
Loving the content Mr Brown. Could you perhaps show us in your next video how you sharpen or maintain your scythe?
So satisfying to watch!! I enjoyed it so much!
Love the reloading sounds. 😆 great video and extremely helpful for identifying them in their natural habitat. Thank you.
Behold, the Hogweed Slayer
Not sure why I'm here. Not sure why I'm watching. Not sure why I'm subscribing.
The return of a legend!
Very nice vid Richard keep posting them they are amazing.
i would smash
Love your content!
I may or may not be watching this at 4 a.m but man this is content
Just checking in, are you doing alright? We haven’t seen you in a while.
Great and informative! Thanks for sharing. The shotgun was a nice touch
I love this youtube channel
Pretty much everyone missed your Genesis reference. I got it. They are indeed immune to all our herbicidal battering! And really you should Strike at night, they are defenseless!
His voice is SO relaxing 😩🌿
I'm subscribed now, I love your content!
This was a hoot. Great scything.
That was so satisfying. Thank you for the giggle.
happy to see you're still scythin' brother ... LOL the gun edits :D
Love the sound effects!
very satisfying. lovely video.
Best video I've seen in awhile.
The legend is back
Have you tried digging the young plants out? A vintage dock grubber or the more modern version sold as ragwort forks work well.
Dig them up at seedling stage in the spring, easy enough to spot the distinctive leaves and stem colour even when very small.
Awesome sound effects :D
Some fun editing there!
I recently discovered that I am ALLERGIC to hogweed. It makes me cough real bad, but I haven't gotten close enough to it to see what kind of reactions I have.
Woe well done bro u so good at this stuff :)
Yes, the king is back
I lost it when he started "shotgunning" the weeds. xDD
im glad to see he is still ok
Very cool Richard brown!
You are a Genesis fan for sure. Return of the Giant Hogweed. A classic!
The English rock band, Genesis wrote and recorded a song about this infamous plant. It’s called “The Return of the Giant Hogweed”.
Been waiting two years for this
So very beautiful. We love them
nice videos make more its very informational and interesting
I can listen to this guys voice all day.
Why do I love his voice so much
This seems like a very good video, Mr Brown. Oh, I just came here from the scythe video.
How are you, sir? I hope you've been doing well. We need a new video from you soon! Take care! ❤
Lol, nice video. Also, does hogweed grow underground root systems, or do they grow only by the spread of their seed?
great stuff
I recently watched a video on UA-cam about the spread of Giant Hogweed in Russia. At one time, in the old Soviet Union, it was cultivated for animal food until they found out about the problems it causes the animals to which it was being fed. But when the cultivation ended, no attempt has ever been made to eradicate or even control it resulting in a horrendous spread of the dangerous weed over vast swathes of the country -- grass verges on motorways are lined with the stuff.
Keep posting bro
the sound effects were great 😂
GOD YES HES BACK
There is no dislikes... Yet. But i don't want someone to dislike this and i won't dislike this. Great content! 👍.
Still no dislikes
I love this
gotta say it must be exhilarating cutting such big things in one fell swoop.
The king has returned
Nice work with that scythe! But what are you doing with the plants you cut down? I noticed some flower head portions close to seed. What about the roots. ? I know hemlock well but not hogtied. I'd say there will be a bumper crop next year
Ya the grim reaper is back!
I’m in Tennessee, US. We’re told to stay away from Giant hogweed, Poison hemlock, and Spotted water hemlock. I see them sometimes when I go through the dense forest area of my backyard
Very satisfying. I wonder what that area is looking like now?
Fire,,,,,,,,,, your welcome.👍🏻🍻🇨🇦
hero
Slay them all!
Liked just for the shotgun sound
imagine if it’s stalks were woody and hard. Would be much more difficult. But I suppose it wouldn’t be the same plant by then, it would grow differently and have different effects
I have this issue in Alaska
LAST YEAR I chopped it down put cardboard down heavy so it COULD NOT get light 💡
It worked good so I doing a larger spot this year 🌤
The card board just dissipates all by its self by the next spring
Now we're talking.
this monster looks beautiful though.
Sir, you haven't uploaded anything recent yet. I hope you are okay. ❤
if you burn the plant among brushwood the fumes are toxic too?
Lord brown is back
Scnicker-snack!
DOOM Diurnal , with the B.F.S. attacking, G.H.W
I want this 3:50 but instead of gunshots it will be about 40K chaos because that really fits this
Oh man your doing it the hard way lol
breh dats sharpo (Doggo impression) (Tucker Budzyn edit impression)
Also, what i’ve learned as Hogweed here in NC is a red orange colored stem with many green little flowers or perhaps little balls attached to the tips. In any case, we had one in our field that must have survived mowing and grew up past 10+ ft tall. I may be thinking of a different word than hogweed though. Let me look it up
Actually it is called Redroot amaranth. Called Pigweed. i’ve noticed that different specimens had different shapes, some ornate and symmetrical and some not.
I think the Victorian gareners also bought over himalayan Balsam as well
henlo hoogwed u to tall fo ma (Doggo impression) (Tucker Budzyn edit impression) (again)
They all need the sun to photosensitize their venom
Is the sap easy to wash off the scythe or is it really sticky? Does it spray when you cut it down?
Very interesting, never knew hogweed was such a problem in the UK
Giant hogweed.
You should have glasses and a face covering on doing that as scything can whip up sap and it could land on you’re face or eyes.
