  • Sorry for the re-uploads and losing your generous comments. The last upload contained very unsharp footage and some captions I wasn't happy about. I ended up squeezing too much stuff in one video, so I narrowed it down. I'll revisit this module when I have more stuff to properly support it in Eurorack, without any PC nearby. Regardless, this is an amazing module that sounds great in eurorack mono and interstellar with an MPE midi controller.

    Hi All, I reported an 'issue' with my Linnstrument while driving the EaganMatrix, having unstable jittery pitch response. Roger Linn offered great support and we narrowed down the issue to ungrounded 'dirty' main power. I took an extension cable from the kitchen and it works absolutely fine on grounded mains!

      @@mark35mi Absolutely. In your case I'd get a Haken ContinuuMini which is around 1000 dollar/euro, hook it up with USB, install MAX, run the EaganMatrix editor and select the Linnstrument as a controller for the MINI. You'd get exactly the same sounds/experience but without the eurorack investment - and an extra performance strip. The MINI is advertised as monophonic but it also goes eight voice polyphonic over MPE.

    I have had an Expressive E Osmose on order since 2019, and it looks like production is finally imminent. Apparently it will contain the Eaganmatrix engine; I’m pretty stoked. Now all I have to do is resist buying the Eurorack module in the meantime lol. The GAS is real!

    I'm trying to get used to one that I'm working with (work project) and the documentation is not the clearest. The 4 dots that make the horizontal "pong paddle": what do they represent? I'm also not getting a pitch change, despite providing legit CVs.

    Note: Those "notes Jumping" on the display are just pitch tracking. They will jump. For Linnstrument you normally set pitch Bend = 96. Set CC74 and Channel Pressure, then set the number of MPE channels you want to play - normally 2-Max Polyphopny of preset +1.

    Cine, Richard .. thanks for the conversation, about this, & all else. Cine, .. I've thought about your comment about Marbles & EaganMatrix combined .. and, yes! .. that probably would be a great 1, 2 punch. & perhaps sometime down the road .. I might have both. It does seem that Marbles is what I should be getting, for now, though. Also, .. my most recent addition of Bitbox Micro, .. can now be put to work, in a greater, more effective way, too? Thanks, guys.

    • @kenswanson1093
      @kenswanson1093 2 роки тому

      An afterthought .. my Marbles/Bitbox theory would be depending that the T1, T2, T3 outputs of Marbles could be fractionally triggered, either by 1/2, or by a 1/3, and so on, from it's clock. And as far as I know, .. Marbles doesn't have that feature. After all, you can't have randomness & pure fractions happen at the same, eh? .. :)

    • @kenswanson1093
      @kenswanson1093 2 роки тому

      Either way, .. I think I've convinced my self in getting this, (Marbles) whether Bitbox is usable with it, or not.

    • @CinematicLaboratory
      @CinematicLaboratory  2 роки тому

      Indeed, marbles provides structure and randomness, but it would have been super if it could do clock divisions. Teaming it up with a more powerful clock (e.g. Pam's new workout) could provide the best of both worlds.

    • @kenswanson1093
      @kenswanson1093 2 роки тому

      @@CinematicLaboratory ah sir, .. that could be the thing, Pam's & Marbles. No matter what, I do, .. I'm going to have expand my HP space, regardless. So, get a wider rack, .. at least get Marbles, .. & see what's what ..
      Reading the manual for Marbles, .. the rate at 12 O'clock = 120 BPM .. & that's perfect, I think. And then dividing or multiplying by 4, from 120, full left or full right on the knob twist .. I might generate some kind of a paper protractor, on CAD, and index every 10 BPM along the radius, let's say .. and stick it behind the "rate" knob, eh? I thought I read somewhere, that MI has a lockin/homein, around the 12 O'clock position, of a few degrees .. well, you know .. because, that's what people would prefer. Hopefully, .. that's true. And, .. I'm not sure .. a person does a quick little loop, or routine based off of Marbles, or Pam's for that matter .. how does that work for a sequence, (that's stacked end to end to end) that lasts several minutes, overall? Is the timing still on, then? That might be an unreasonable thing to ask.
      For myself, only .. dialing down to 89.32 BPM on Marbles, wouldn't matter. But, I do interface with other musicians, who can depending on an exact BPM .. so, a theory I've got is to get as close as I can, BPM-wise, on Marbles, (if I need to use it) .. knowing that there's going to some stretching or shrinking, at the end of my process, right?
      thanks for taking the time to visit about this, .. it's been pretty valuable, to me.

    • @CinematicLaboratory
      @CinematicLaboratory  Рік тому +1

      I expect most people to stick to presets and not program their own sounds from scratch. The potential is huge and it's easy to navigate through categories, you can pick favorites, etc, but it's the total opposite of a bare oscillator and I don't see many people unleash its full potential. It really needs an MPE controller to do that. As a single voice with eight CV inputs it can also do a lot of good. I now have it in a separate case and I use it as a hardware synth.

      Yes you can chance presets either through the menu system on the module or through the Editor or through Midi Messages.

    • @CinematicLaboratory
      @CinematicLaboratory  2 роки тому

      It's definitely not a Marbles, it's more like a powerful hardware synth in a eurorack module. You can switch presets on the panel, or with the Editor. The Editor also lets you create your own presets and save altered ones. It may be cool to hook it up with Marbles, though! It can send melodies, do modulation and turn it into a generative ambient machine. Marbles doesn't make sound (usually), but provides gates, melodies and modulation.

      Apologies .. missed the point, I see .. Eaganmatrix being more sound generator, than a CV (any kind of?) generator.

    • @richardkram2457
      @richardkram2457 2 роки тому

      @@kenswanson1093 Actually, in addition to being a CV and/or MPE controlled physically modelling synth as wonderfully detailed in the video here, the module can also function as a CV-to-MPE generator as the CV input you give it to play is also converted internally into MPE midi and output the Midi ports (either TRS or USB). You can also get a uCVC Eurorack card from Evaton Technologies (single channel) or CVC from Haken Audio (4 channel but standard 19" rack mount) that will allow you to also turn the module into an MPE-to-CV generator.

    • @CinematicLaboratory
      @CinematicLaboratory  Рік тому

      I have no idea. I assume you mean virtual acoustics and it does not do models of a sax or violin. There are plenty of components that let you do physical modeling in the engine but it's still to deep for me. There are over 500 presets which include great strings, wind and plucks but they all sound a bit exotic. Super convincing and expressive, but like instruments we've never heard before.

    • @GizzyDillespee
      @GizzyDillespee Рік тому +1

      Josh means virtual analog. Yes, there are standard analog style oscillators and filters. Check out the latest Osmose demo video... the blade runner patch is featured in that demo. I'll say the virtual analog stuff doesn't have "slop" or "vintage" emulations, but you do have some modulation inputs, and the onboard macros, so you can add your own driftiness.
