- This video shows the process of making a simple mould and pouring a polyurethane fishing lure to be hand finished and coated with Jigskinz.
For the Plastic I used Smooth-on Featherlite Polyurethane Resin
In the Uk this is Available form Bentley Advanced Materials www.benam.co.uk/
In the US and the rest of the world try www.smooth-on.com/
For Jigskinz the shrink wrappings www.jigskinz.com/
for Stainless screw eyes try Lureparts.com for the US and Lurepartsnl.com for Europe
That you make these productions all by yourself is mind boggling.
zoffinger Just lots of bits of video and sound, stuck together, it is getting a bit easier, but I have not really got to grips with working outdoors on my own, thanks
Paul your not just a master craftsman when it comes to building these but an excellent videographer as the style and editing on your videos is awesome. Keep up the great work.
Hey Paul. I just wanted to thank you for getting me interested In making handmade lures. It is now one of my favorite hobbies
That heat shrink body wrap is an interesting product. Nice
***** Yes, but it makes me very lazy with the airbrush
***** ha ha, I imagine it would, still great look and super easy. I also wonder how durable it is.
Hi Paul i am from Germany and my englisch is not so good :) but i watch all your Videos You Have the best Handmade Channel on youtube. Thanks for this ;)
You are a genius, im from Brazil and i really enjoy your videos. Thank you to teach everyone your art!
You make the process look so easy.
Thank u Paul Adams for making this video. Good fishing my friend. :-)
great idea on the mold, i might have to try that my self too at some point. also great to see you catching some fish too for a change hehe
SolarBaits yes i found two particularly stupid fish, cheers mikko
Paul, thank you for experience! Great work!
It is my first visit here. Jut ammmmaaazing job thank you
Dude I love your videos. To start off with I love fishing. And I love looking and learning about the different baits. Hope you keep up the channel. And I'll see you next time.
He got the skills the man....! love those Jigskinz. Thanks for sharing Sir.
I completely agree with peacockealot (below) about the professionalism of your videography-and the intriguing ways you craft your lures. BUT, we are never shown how this jerk bait looks/performs in the water! That's what I (and, I feel certain, other lure makers) want to see most!
these days if i make a lure, i tend to show working its action as best i can as people like yourself started to ask me to show the action, thanks
Loved it - As allways. Good job Paul
Amazing and it really works. Good job!!
Thank you very much. From Greece
nice work! lure looks awesome! that featherlite stuff looks like good stuff to me. I may have to get some of it. if it already has the micro baloons in it to make it float, that is one less step I would need to do. the stuff I use now I have to add the micro baloons. it is still good stuff as it is fully cured in 5 min, with a very short pot life after mixing. tonight I made a brand new lure mold after shaping a piece of dowel stick, and using silicon putty to mold around it. I already got a new lure molded, added weight, and it floats good in a cup of water. I just have to paint it,and put a coat of UV resin over it,and it's good to go,as I dressed a treble for it. tight lines!
sgtpavlov good luck with it all, I still get that feeling of anticipation before opening a mould
Great video Paul!!Great lure as well!!!
That’s absolutely brilliant 👍
amazing, wonderful film work
Brilliant and great to watch. Thanks for sharing.
awesome !!! I love your Videos and your work for the Baits too...
Chris
Your whole channel is amazing
you got yourself a really nice place for northern
AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I really enjoy your videos........
Nice fish! Didn't realize you had those over there.
These are my new favorite videos
wow you have some skills man😍 respect👌
I imagine even none anglers (deluded fools!) would find this interesting the production and execution really are first class.
Don Butt You mean there are people who do not fish, who are these people and where do they live the Sahara? cheers
okay, this explains all why i never got to be succusfull at making a lure.. thanks alot for the info,i am trying this next vacantion
Love these videos! Awesome work
I don't do any lure fishing, but I'm addicted to your videos. Can you name the lake you test your items in.
I don't like naming the waters because it puts pressure on them that they don't need, luckily there are not many pieces of fresh water in the country that don't have pike in them, but the local tackle is the place i go to find out where to fish and hand over my wages and talk bollocks for afternoon. Thanks, I hope you never find a cure for your addiction ( that may be a little selfish of me)
I've never worked with such resin , ...just wondering , whether it's not possible to twist the screw eyes into pilot holes of thread core diameter,......or the cured resin would turn out too brittle or , ....on the other hand , ....too dense to do so ?
Another briliant video of yours again , Paul , ........and your work was even rewarded instantly !
Greetz , Dieter
61diemai I have before drilled pilot holes before and screwed the eyes in, I used a super glue based thread lock on them, which given enough force you can twist out again although i suspect a fish would not be able to untwist them without access to a workshop. The resin can be brittle in thin sections and that is mainly to do with glass spheres I think, normal un-filled polyurethane resin a little like ABS but quite as tough. Hopefully i will using some in a future video, cheers Dieter
Great video, one more to try myself
Excellent , Thanks very much
Awesome tutorial.
Awesome work my friend
amigo lo felicito, me gusto el recubrimiento del señuelo, excelente para los que no tienen habilidades para pintar. Saludos desde Venezuela
Great, really great.
Greatings from Germany
Very clever. Impressiv video.
happy thanks giving.. thanks for this video I never knew about jig skins I like this idea
they have much bigger range now real photo 's of fish as well
Paul Adams I'm going to buy some $16 is not bad for a pack of 3
nice work (again) :D
love it Paul...
Wow That Was Awesome!!! Dont have any art skills will have to stick with bass pro.
Very good again !
this is remarkable
Have you tried little bigger and less thicker trebles? Your trebles looks so tiny for a lure.
Great video, exciting to wait next one!
Janne Ovaska yes the trebles are a bit heavy they 4x strong vmc size 1, I do have some larger owner trebles which are thinner I think they are 1/0 the trouble i have with them is they are just that bit wider a seem to pick up weed a lot more readily . The size 1 tucks just nicely in, but i have been experimenting with double hooks and breakaway fixing them down to the body. Thanks
jon.b should do something with these lures
good work Paul Adams..immediate subscriber!
+Kurt Schmid thanks
Amazing. I wonder how Texas Largemouth Bass would react to that.
GREAT VIDEO...
great bait Paul
thanks
Nice video
Awesome job!
top video paul as usual loved it
Thanks for tutorial ...
Nice vid Paul and a sweet little pike. I'm going to check out the Jig Skins, quick and easy, Do they hold up well?
Richard Thaxton They do last but they are a wrapper and designed to be easy to replace. This jerk bait has really been hammered and I think i have got half of the skin left on.
very nice
Great video ... tnx
Hi Paul, another top Video and love seeing different products and methods applied like jigskins. A question, how did you attach the soft plastic tail to the glide bait securely?
thanks Scott
+Scott Was Here i just pushed over the screw eye with a drop of super glue
Awesome
Curious why you added weight to the tail after it sank horizontal? Was that to offset the leader weight?
Thanks great fun.
awesome
MUY BUENO EXCELENTE TRABAJO 👏👏
Can you please make a video on how to make a baby duck lure. That would be awesome. thx
Yeah good idea
mad skills!
Greate perfeckt new lures thanks thanks.👍👍👍👍👍
roberto767778 Amigo para el día de pesca.
7:38 best part
Awesome!!
wahoo, i really liked this :)
Buenisimo
wahoo !! tanks ! : )
Someone's a good drawer
Could you give me an estimate for how much one of these glide baits cost to make? I'm thinking of making my own!
Do jigskinz come in different shapes and sizes?
belle video=)
Hi Paul do you sale these lures? This one would be excellent for sea fishing
Hi you can to make smaller silicon fhis
(2 inch)
What is the weight and lenght of the finish lure? Thanks
Awesome!! Videos! Paul, this guys also work in salty?
Ator Tank It has a similar action and feel to big offshore stick bait although sub surface , the whip tail really slowed it down which I found great for pike because i find they are often a bit crap at hitting faster jerking baits. If i was looking at really big ocean fish i would go with a through wire, but that is a whole new video, thanks
thank You for the info!!! cheers!
d that mate cheers
I want to have that
Would the materials be cheaper than purchasing one?
+Nelson Ho I think there would always be a cheaper factory made bait out there, for my part I just enjoy making lures it does not mean they are the best or the cheapest. thanks
Have you experimented with recycled HDPE? or is it too dense for lures?
it is something I am planning to do but I may sandwich with other materials that are less dense like pvc foam board
The pvc tape around the screw in eyes sound weak instead of just super glueing the screw eyes
+Helios_2_pro Fsx Usaf Pilot at the end of the video it explains that I used epoxy to finally fit the hook hangers and hitch point, the pvc tape was only temporary while i fitted the jingskinz
Oh ok
If I wanted to make a mold of my favorite plastic bait in order to copy it what product would you suggest for the mold? And what product would you suggest to make the plastic lure?
Thomas Harrell For moulding i generally stick with polytek 3841-f rtv silicone, this has a good strength and lasts, for casting I have been using featherlite resin from smooth-on or Bentley advanced materials in the uk. I am thinking that maybe the next video will be making a mould from this lure, but until I start filming i am never sure. thanks
how did u put the curly tail on at the end sir could u help me out with that part
james partin i just forced it over the eye to make a hole took it off again added a drop of super glue and pushed it back on, job done, it held non problems
thanks
What size jig skin is that one?
could bobbers be made out of that plastic?
+Cameron Vincent It is not that lightweight for the type of bobbers I make, expanding polyurethane foam may be better
А где такие термонаклейки взять?
Nice skin
Kinda creepy
What weight is that lure roughly please Paul?
it was about 70grams
มีคนไทยดูอะป่าวเขาใช้น้ำยาอะไรแทลงไป
พอบอกได้ไหม
what wood do you use as a rule? pls help as ive just got into the hobby and making my own lures thanks
Depends what bait your building. Crankbaits work better with a lighter more bouyant would gives them a better action. Where as a glidebait like this you’ll want a more dense wood, so it doesn’t have to weigh a ton in order to sink. Read some online forums there’s tons of different options and pros and cons to all of them, some you through wire some u don’t. I use cedar when I need strength and buoyancy, and maple for baits I need to sink.
@@ryanpainter7695 thanks for the tips
We're is the second video
How much do those cost
should Never put hooks on the belly...fish strike from the top,,,and mostly get hooked on the jaw,,,when you do underneath where they swallow its a throat mess..especially bad for catch n release
Wouldn't it be quicker and far less expensive just to buy fish from the store?
hi Paul were do u buy the jig skins from as I build jerk baits but can't paint them
+Kenny Ferry jigskinz.com
Thanks paul
