  • How do I lay a Whalebone Laminate Floor? A while ago we added this brand new collection of XL herringbone laminate floors to our range 🤩 So it wasn't long before we were asked 'How do you lay a whalebone laminate floor? Normally Guido gets help from our professional flooring installer Bert. But this XL herringbone floor is so easy to install that he decided to try it himself. Want to see how it turns out? Watch the episode and find out how easy it is to lay a Whalebone laminate floor yourself!
    0:00 - Intro
0:12 - Acclimatising laminate before laying
Before laying the floor, make sure everything is well prepared. The most important thing? Acclimatise the planks! Allow the packages of XL herringbone laminate planks to acclimatise in the hashtag position (#) for at least 48 hours in the room where the floor will be laid. This will allow the planks to adapt to the indoor climate of your home.
Levelling the floor surface if necessary
If your floor is very uneven, it may be useful to level the sub-floor. If your floor is slightly uneven, this is rarely necessary. Want to know how much unevenness you can tolerate in your subfloor? Then read the Floer blog on our website!
0:50 - You will need all this!
    1. Measuring tool
    2. Spacer
    3. Stanley knife
    4. Teflon tappig block
    5. Rubber hammer
    6. Jigsaw
    7.Cut-off saw
    8. Suitable underlay
    9. Good hoover
1:14 - Remove dust from the surface and lay the laminate underlay
Make sure you have dusted the subfloor with a hoover and then install the subfloor. In the video, Guido uses the Floer non-contact underlay. This underlay reduces impact sound, giving you a more solid and softer walking sound.
2:30 - Make the starter point
When laying XL herringbone laminate, you always use starter points. One point is supplied in each shipping so you can recreate it yourself. The Whalebone laminate floor is not supplied with left and right planks as with laying Herringbone laminate. So you do not have to take this into account when copying the starting points.
3:46 - Laying the Whalebone Laminate floor
As mentioned earlier, Whalebone Laminate does not come with left and right floorboards, allowing you to choose your own laying method. In the video, Guido lays one straight point in the middle and then attaches boards to this on the left and right sides. Keep at least 1 cm away from the wall and save the sawn-off floor boards. These can come in handy when finishing the floor.
    7:27 - Congratulations!
You now know how to install a Whalebone Laminate floor. You can now put your feet up and enjoy your new floor.
