I miss old school radio shows/personalities like Art. Now the world is just over saturated with hundreds of thousands of cookie cutter podcasts and copy/paste entertainers.

I live in ND.... I'm 40 and when I got out of the army I moved to Minneapolis..... there was a HUGE difference between people my age there vs where I'm from.... I had to move back to ND after a few years.

I'm from the 1950's. I've watched all of the greats and am here to tell you that we'll never see the likes of Art and his caliber of personalities again. Because people in today's society are scared shitless of being unique and going against the grain. No intestinal fortitude and as ignorant as a summer day is long! Thanks for the memories with these episodes. ...

I once saw a UFO up close. It came across in front of my house from the South. It looked like a boomerang. It glowed dull orange like a florescent light burning out. Every 5 seconds it would flash bright orange for a second. It was moving at I guess 1mile per hour. About 50 foot off of the ground. It went straight north. No sound whatsoever. I never forgot that exsperience. I was 9 years old. I'm approaching 70 now.
I saw something similar. But it was a long rectangle shape. Maybe a ftball field long. Moving slow and seemed to pass through the trees. .

I once saw a F16 Tomcat airplane traveling a I guess 1mph. It had lights on bottom from behind the pilot's location to the tail. Lights were 4 side by side. The cop pit was lit up. I could see the pilot. It came from east going west. It passed and went southwest. Strange how slow it was flying.

I remember driving in a Peterbuilt up and down 15 from Vegas threw the gorge to black rock rd. Drove from there on a dirt, sandy rd. The desert. Pitch black at night. Listening to art bell.

In the 7th grade a family rented a house two streets down from mine. I developed a crush on a girl my age who lived at the house, her name was Debbie. I used to ride my bike in front of her house in hopes of seeing her. One day as I approached her house, I caught a glimpse of her going around the house to the back yard. I parked my bike and followed into the back yard. Her mother and sister were there and so was she, floating 20 to 30 feet in the air. Two days later the house was empty.
How long did you observe her floating? What did you do, wait for her to come down? Run?
@@willythewave Her mother(?) screamed "Get out!", I looked up one more time to see Debbie slowly coming down to the ground, so I saw her float for about 10-12 seconds total. I ran to my bike and took off fast. Two days later I got the nerve to ride by her house again and it was empty.

I had a bat hover in front of me the night my sister passed away. I just got home from the hospital. It was a July night in Central Texas around midnight. I decided to grab a glass of wine and sit outside in the lawn chair after I got home and this bat hovered right in front of my face about 2-3 feet away as soon as I sat down. I don't even think I had time to sip my wine before it hovered. I'm not sure how long it was there, but it was enough time to see it and to think about how odd it was. It looked at me and I looked at it and then it flew off. Like Art, I've never seen a bat hover, but this thing looked like a bat. I haven't experienced it since... about 15 years.

There is something quintessentially American about Art Bell and his radio. That vision of America doesn't seem to exist anymore: a land where opportunity was always possible and where trading in the vast marketplace of ideas was always welcome. Art's rather wistful choices of cool and often slightly offbeat tunes from the 70s and 80s elicited the sensation of the continent's open roads and highways of the great American prairies and wide open freeways snaking their way through the canyons of the South West. Spaces where the airwaves blew free and where one imagines space-lovin' cowboys listening to Art late at night in their roadsters, peeking out occasionally to keep their eyes on the skies...
Charlie Drown, certainly the world of alternative and fringe media died when Art passed over. I have only recently come to know Art and the old Coast to Coast as we didn't know about him in Australia during the 90s, pre the digital age and social media and you tube. So I'm enjoying catching up on all these old shows and seeing the origins of ideas in Ufology and how so many of these ideas were being explored during the 90s and 00s but we didn't have access to them in those days. You Tube really has collapsed time in ways we never thought possible.
I was at a civil ware re-enactment in Georgia a few years ago and saw this humanoid looking thing with wings fly over the mountain and down into the valley where it disappeared. To me, it looked like the Balrog from Lord of the Rings, minus the flaming whip. Lots of other people in the crowd saw it because I could hear people around me talking about it and pointing. I've always wondered what it was I saw.
@@lighttheway4694 I didn't see any horns. It had to be at least 6 to 10 feet tall based on how far away it was and how big it looked to me. I did not have binoculars, just the naked eyes. I was really surprised by what I was seeing and even more surprised when everyone around me started talking about it. I could hear people saying, "What was that? or Did you see that?" It was pretty weird.

Speaking of Mothman. I had a subscription to the paper back mag Kentucky Explorer from 2001 to 2004 and there was a story from the 1800's just 3 counties over from Point Pleasant WV, straight due west from Point Pleasant WV, over into Ky., about a man & woman who saw Mothman standing in the road ahead of them. He spooked their horse, jumped up on the fence and ran towards their buggy. As it passed them they noticed it was tall, black and looked creepy & unnatural. Also the speed of it's feet did not match the speed at which it moved along the fence top. Also it floated a couple feet above the fence as it "ran." Creepy story, it also included a full page drawing made by the actual eye witness back in the 1800's. They never called it Mothman, but the description and the eye witness drawing looked just like Mothman. Great story, very interesting magazine.

Toward the end of his life, art was in a lot of pain. But he never showed it on the air and was a consummate gentleman to all the people who called in. And help them all tell their stories. Is a wonderful guy. And. fabulous. Interviewer. Of all types of folks.

I saw something driving up a logging road at 11pm at night.. I was car camping that night so looked for a good place to pull off and make a fire and cook something up on the mountain away from town a few miles.. It was up in a small town called Cle Elum, WA which has a History of creepy things happening there in the past.. It was an old coal town and they used Chinese labor in the 1800s there.. instead of paying them they would take them up to what is now called "China Falls" and throw them in and drown them instead of paying them.. Many of the locals believe that is why the land is cursed... When innocent blood is spilt., an area becomes cursed.. That is one of the ways it happens... ANy way I swear to you I saw a mountain lion standing upright like a man facing my car just off of the gravel road on the passanger side of me... It backed up on two back feet into the tree line and into the dark at night... I knew it was something spiritual and the adrenaline I got from seeing it made me stop and get out of the car... I wanted to see what the hell that was... So I got my gun and made a fire right there and waiting and watched for about 20 mins to come back... but It didnt... And that was about All I could take so I drove about an hour away and slept somewhere else that night.

Years ago , my husband
a retired school teacher,
and I.
Were on our way home from spending an evening, with his Boss & His Wife.
It was Aprox. 1-1:30 ish am.
And a beautiful warm evening.
At about 3 miles from our home, we had an encounter with a flying criptid.
I was driving, because my husband had a few beers.
I was driving our Honda
S2000 , with the top down.
We were on a back country road , and had just driven past, a heavily wooded area .
My speed was 55-60 mph.
When From behind us came something neither of us, can fathom or explain.
I looked up, as it flew closely overhead .
I tell you this thing was so close, I felt like I could have reached up and touched it !
The wings were that of
a black leather.
Bat like Skin, and Structure.
We could clearly see boneing, or veining, between the layers of the wing from underneath.
This thing did NOT, have
a single Feather on its wings.
It "NEVER" FLAPPED ITS WINGS ......NOT ONCE !
Yet ....
It was able to Exceed the Speed of our Vehicle .
By all accounts, I should have hit this thing?
It glided over our heads,
Over the windshield, and hood Then ...
it swooped the road surface DIRECTLY Dead Center,
in front of the car,
Before veering off to the right .....And gone !
It all happened so fast,
Although seemed in slow motion.
Like just before you have
an accident.
I did not have time to hit
my breaks, or slow down.
And just wanted to get the Hell away from it !
Therefore , I was completely unaware, of where it went
After veering off to the right.
I need to explain , that a Honda S2000, has VERY Bright Halogin Headlights.
The lights not only
light up the road in
Front of the car,
But.... they go Beyond the Roadway, to include lighting the Bank & Shoulder on Either Side.
I also had my High Beams on, due to large Deer population where we live.
So after this thing came over the front of my car, it swooped the road surface at a height of about 2 feet off the ground.
As it did this, i could CLEARLY see, the wing span Exceeded the
Width of the ( 2 lane road )
on "BOTH SIDES",
by about 1-2 feet.
My husband who was reclined in the seat next to me, looked over at me and said......
"Did you see what I just saw?"
I told him, you give me one discription, of what you saw.
Then I will do the same.
When all was said and done, we had both discribed the same Creature.
Was it Mothman, the Jersey Devil ? Or WHAT !
Now I know for a FACT....
2 people , can NOT Hallucinate the
Same Creature.
We swore to never
talk about this
Experience to anyone.
For fear of being called
"BAT SHIT CRAZY".
(No pun intended).
Believe me,
we have NOTHING to
gain by this event in our lives.
And I must admit, this experience haunts me to this day !
However......
Now being many years later, I Have told a few of my neighbors.
Because, some have very small children.
And I could not forgive myself , if something were to happen.
But yes .....I do get the,
That Bitch has lost her
mind look.
To this day , I myself
won't put my dog out the door late in the evening.
Because we love him like
a child.
I live in South Jersey,
This incident happened on OLIVET Road.
Not all that far from
the Salem Nuke area
I suppose.
Is this a factor, Who knows?

You will forever believe ,
and continue to look for answers, until you are

I would strongly urge you to forward your experience to Lon Strickler, author and host of Phantoms and Monsters Radio/YT.
Lon is a bit of a well-connected legend when it comes to paranormal/cryptid investigations and leading the charge, if you will, regarding the Flying Humanoids that have been recently seen by countless people in the greater Chicago area, particularly at O’Hare.
Pilots, airport employees-including firefighters, delivery company drivers and
TSA agents-have all seen it and to that end; city/airport officials are scrambling to quash the story by threatening those witnesses with job loss and prosecution if they go public with their sighting.
It’s not working.

I actually peered through two little windows on the top part of the door just to make sure everything is safe, lol

I think what really did it for me was the comparison between Mothman and Pazuzu which is the demon statue that always scared The Living Daylights out of me from The Exorcist
Creepy, and I'm a grown man.
One time when I was a kid my great granny took me to go camping in the Grand Canyon. She picked me up at sunrise that morning and we stopped at Big Larry's Breakfast burrito /truck stop /visitor center/weigh station / gift shop emporium to get breakfast. I got a standard bacon egg and cheese burrito and a big red fountain drink soda. Granny got her usual whole blackened catfish with ostrich egg and horseradish sauce jumbo giant burrito with a fifth of el presidente mexican whiskey. We ate at the bar and granny got a bunch of supplies at the truck stop gift centr afterwords. She had a grocery cart and put two sleeping bags, a giant bic lighter, 18 different cans of foods. At least one or two of tuna , sardines, beans, mini raviolis, tamales, caviar, Vienna sausages, sweet corn and evaporated milk. A prefilled salt and pepper shaker and a bottle of liquid smoke. She turned the corner and grabbed a tube that had 6 tennis balls in it and a 100 foot rope. Another bottle of whiskey and some powdered tang. A small jar of peanut butter and a whole case of strike anywhere kitchen matches went in the cart next. Turning down the next isle she tossed a few more items some made sense for camping like a styrofoam cooler and aluminum foil, and some didnt make any sense at all like a plastic pink flamingo and a pack of 24 multi colored smoke bombs. Once the cart was full of goods we went to the register to pay and when we got to the register Big Larry was there and told my granny to not worry about paying for any of it. Granny protested and said "I GOT THE MONEY TO PAY YOU BIG LARRY" He told her that her money is no good here and its was the least he could do to repay her for that night in 1963 in Vietnam. Granny saluted Big Larry and we walked out to the truck. She grabbed a couple of backpacks out of the backseat and started loading the gear from the cart into both if them. Some things were split even between the backpacks, some things didnt. We drove out to a secret trail that granny knew about that lead into the canyon bottom and she said would get us close the colorado river. She parked the truck in a stand of trees and we got out. After getting our gear out we covered the truck with a camoglauge tarp to help conceal it. We put on the packs and started walking. Granny was cutting the heads off of all the strike anywhere matches and dropping the match sticks on the ground and saving all the heads in her pocket while we walked. I didnt understand what she was doing it for but I didnt ask her at the time. After a couple of hours she stopped and held up her hand to signal for me to stop and be quite. I did as she said and in the silence we could hear the sound of flowing water. She said "Come on it's time to make camp and dinner for the night. We got a long walk ahead of us tomorow to get where we are going." We walked up to the edge of the river and granny pulled a loose string from the sleeve if her dress about 20 foot long. She pulled a hair pin from her hair and a single gray hair from her head she bent the pin into a fish hook shape and tied the gray hair into a fly fishing lure around the hook. She thru it out into the river and within a few seconds she caught a 10 pound sockeye salmon and threw it on the bank then she tossed it back out and a few seconds later she pulled out a 10 pound rainbow trout and tossed it next to the salmon. She built a fire and cooked the trout on skewers and cut the salmon up into thin slices so she could smoke it overnight.After we ate ahe took the tennis ball and poke a hole into each one and started filling them up with all the match heads. I asked her why and she said "These are for trade when we get to Squating Bulls teepee tomorow."Iasked her "Who's Squatting Bull?'
"An old friend of mine." She replied.
The next morning we broke camp at first light after granny wrapped the ten pounds of smoked salmon in aluminum foil and put it in her backpack. We walked until about 10 am when we came to a clearing with a 20 foot tall teepee in the middle of it. Granny made a hooting sound and after a few seconds a reply came in the same shooting sound from the teepee. Squating Bull came out and greeted us and in ited us inside. I dont know what language he was speaking but granny spoke it fluently. Squating Bull picked up a tennis ball and looked at granny with a confused look as if he didnt understand what they were. Granny said something in his language and took the ball and walked outside. Squating Bull and me followed her outside. Granny looked around and saw a tree stump about 50 feet away. She held up the ball in her hand and said something then Squating bull laughed and looked at me and said in heavily accented english "BIG FIRE HAHAHAHA." Granny threw the ball at the stump and when it hit the match heads in the ball all scratched each other and lit simultaneously. This did indeed make big fire as what was effectively a homemade phosphorus grenade that self ignites on impact burst into violent flames and engulfed the stump in fire. Squating Bull was amazed by this and started clapping his hand a d repeating "Big fire, big fire big fire" we went back inside and they continued talking to each other as granny emptied the contents of her bag I realised what was going on. They were negotiating a trade deal. Granny traded the canned goods, the aluminum foil, the tennis ball grenades 8 lbs of smoked salmon, a plastic pink flamingo, 6 bottles of whiskey, a scented candle and the remaining matches to Squating Bull for a bow and 12 arrows, an obsidian blade tomahawk, a handmade leather pouch full of freshly gathered rare herbs and seeds, and a small pouch full of gemstones and gold nuggets. We stayed with squating bull that night and I watched as they both got drunk on truck stop whiskey and trading stories in his language. After a breakfast of squirrel meat and corn me and granny walked back to the river and there was a dugout canoe that we got in and floated back down stream in. We got back to the truck in about three hours. Granny pulled the 100 foot rope out of my pack and tied the canoe up to a tree close to the bank of the river. Turns out she traded him the rope to him so we could borrow his canoe. We got back to town and granny sold the gold and stones to a jeweler for 20,000.
That’s a beautiful story, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who read the whole thing who was waiting for a great cryptid or flying humanoid story, preferably summoned by the old man in the teepee after downing a bottle of truck stop whiskey, and all we got were exploding tennis balls.

Interesting, inupiaq living in Southern Central Texas. Missing in Alaska my late mother used to say there been many, many missing in around Nome practically the old East End of Nome, where I partially grew up out of these a lot had never been investigated. My story I've told back in mid sixties (65), a lot of us (King Islanders) children playing around old east end suddenly stop as I was with my cousin. Everybody stop looked, behind my Aupucks house was this basketball size orb. I did not understand what was going on and started to cry as my cousin said to me (shhhh). As we looked at this thing an bright very bright light appeared above us and get this I was the only one aware of an supernatural event taking place. Once this very bright light appeared this orb dissipated and disappeared. Once I told this story to my cousin, he did not even know this event accurd, as if that thing erased his memory. All who played out all went home this was evening in wintertime as I had too go through the same way home behind my Aupucks house same location that orb was just to go home to line of quansit huts and that part was dark. I made it home later told my parents about this. So we know about the little people although I never seen one but exprence this event if you want to call it this. So their been more then you know whom gone missing, unreported from late 1880's to present. This is part of legend of the Inupait people of the Seward Peninsula, Nome and people of King Island who I am. AP

Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Sabe or whatever you would like to call him is 100% real. Ever since moving to Southern Illinois from the Mojave Desert in 1987, I have had four encounters with it in the woods. Of the 4 times, 2 of them were only like 25-30 ft away from me. I can tell you, this creature was the last thing on my mind when I went exploring in the woods. Not anymore! The thing that really bothers me is, even though I never seen a dog man/ werewolf Creature in person. I have had several people tell me that they are in the area.. ( within 20 mi north & south ). To experience a flying cryptoid would be strange. I don't believe we have those around southern Illinois.
I have learned over the years. There is more to this world than what meets the eye!

Oh my goodness! Before I knew what the goat man was I saw that damn thing. I was like dogs out about 2 o’clock in the morning warehouse butts up against the 14th hole and I thought it was some drunk guy with a hat on that holds beer cans on both sides like you take the straw in your mouth there’s old hats of the 80s went back inside didn’t think anything of it so weird flashes in the skies that night felt real eery feelings that night couldn’t get to sleep my dogs ran inside so fast they were yelping and whimpering all night and then I heard the story and thought oh my gosh I know that’s exactly what I saw because it look like the guy had a goat head but who the hell would have a goat head on their body. Scared the shit out of me

When I was a child of 4-5 years of age (1964 or 1965 ) the fairs and circus always had the freak tents. One tent for the general public and one big tent for the rich. I crawled under the big tent and was pickup up by what I called Bear (Big Foot) who taught me things telepathic. Others in the tent where mouse people, the little people, and many other life forms. They all where kind to me and I miss my Big Bear who died in 2015.
