      BioWareFollower don’t care and they probably won’t be in the game after battlefront

      BioWareFollower as long as they're cosmetic i'd welcome them easily. if i wanna i high-end weapon i'll put in the effort to grind for it, if i dont have the time then tough shit i need to make time or use some kind of Warframe style trading system where i can barter for it. as long as it's fair to everyone across the board (both the casual and hardcore demographic) i think it can work.

      BioWareFollower Guys, stop asking Bioware and its devs/designers to keep loot boxes cosmetic only. You’re preaching to the choir. It’s the execs that need to hear it. The devs have almost zero negotiation power on these points. Make your voices hear to the EA douchebag execs. Bioware devs agree w us.

      BioWareFollower If they make dlc free then I would accept loot boxes, if EA pulls an Actibungie and includes paid dlc and microtransactions then my 60$ will be spent elsewhere.

    Andromeda loot boxes were okay because you could work for them, no need to purchase them. It was annoying that you had to completely buy out the bottom level or all the items were duplicated too much. Destiny was the first and last multi-player game I will ever buy. I will only purchase single player games that have optional multi-player mode.

      Chrissyce if you didn't like destiny then I have no idea why you would be interested in anthem.

      If the loot box system is your issue there are plenty of multiplayer games that only have cosmetic options to be bought, or simply don't have loot boxes at all. Battlefield 1 and Fornite are two great examples of multiplayer games that only allow cosmetic improvements, and neither require the slow grind of Destiny. Of course, any multiplayer game is going to be more stressful than single player, so obviously you could still hate it.

    Direct buy microtransactions like Warframe are a 100% more ethical approach compared to loot boxes, which are categorically gambling without any ethical standards governing them. I am all for anyone advocating this kind of model. It not only allows people to buy what they actually want, but it encourages the developer to produce more content for the game in order to keep MTX sales flowing.
    I will say that a little research would have done you both better when making a video where people look to you as pundits of a topic. You spent the first segment of this spreading incorrect or incomplete information that doesn't help proper inform people. Admitted, JD actually knew a bit more and straight corrected you Tucker for making a blatantly wrong statement.
    Game dev is *not* more expensive. Publishers have been funding fewer games and giving those games less money on average versus 5 years ago. Microtransactions are 100% about profit. Having a degree in game development does not give you knowledge on the finances of publishers.
    Please spend a little time doing some research before speading misinformation.

      EA has already said that the backlash from BF2 isn't going to stop them. They will continue to put lootboxes in as many games as possible.
      Now the question is, will it be like SWBF2 where they are tied to progression, or will they be more tame like Overwatch?

  • @Lanadra
    @Lanadra 6 років тому +3

    As long as people are like ''It's okay, it's just cosmetic'', companies like EA will never stop taking the piss. If you give them an inch, they will take everything, as Jim likes to say.

  • @vinny9500

    EA has already stated that they are well aware of peoples outright anger at the lootboxes in SWBF2. And they have also stated that they do not care. They will reimpliment them into the game once this all blows over. Anthem surely will have microtransactions. This game has been in development for years and was slated to come out in 2018 before BF2 blew up in EAs face. So most likely, they already have the concept ready and set for the game, and EA will not let them change that this late in the games development.
    I say they won't let Bioware change them, because EA closed down Visceral. I don't give a shit what they say publicly, you know for a fact they closed down Visceral Games because they were only willing to make single player games with coop or multiplayer tacked on. They want games as a service for all their titles, only.
    Also, I don't know in the case of other publishers but with EA, their cost investment to make games has been going down. It peaked in 2009 and has gone down since then with slight up ticks in 2012 and 2017. But over all they are still spending less to make games than what they were 9 years ago. With inflation accounted for, EA has spent $300,000 less in 2017 than what they spent in 2009. These lootboxes are not out of necessity because of "game costs rising" but out of pure greed. Let's say for a normal game EA needs to spend 40 cents to make $1 or revenue, but for their lootboxes they need to spend 20 cents to make $1. If you want to know more, I highly recommend you check out Skill Up's video "The Untold History of EA's Long (and Rich) Pay-2-Win Love Affair."

    goddammit. pretty much every video you guys put out makes me sorta depressed at how many people jump on bandwagons, specifically with the backlash from Andromeda, when there's actual informed discussions here, coming from people deeply educated on the matter

      People don’t want lootboxes in their game, period. No lootboxes= no hate. Don’t give me that horse shit that “games are expensive” CDPR already proved that making AAA open world RPGs are very profitable without putting any sort of microtransactions at all. EA doesn’t want “profitable” EA wants it all.

    I would much rather have a specific micro-transaction system as JD said. The point of having them randomized is quite nonexistent imo

  • @0meat

    It's an EA game, it will be a shortsell, long term investment ruined trying to get quick profit. There will be preorder garbage, there will be a push for EA Origin Access, it will all be over priced and there will be microtransactions everywhere. Which is sad, because it looks like a really good game. But it also looks like they told bioware to make another titanfall.

    I refuse to buy anything EA related anymore. Given the recent news about problem in Bioware development of this game, doesn’t seem like I’m missing much. Bioware sold their soul when they signed to EA and now EA has come to collect.

    They want to put loot boxes in the game, fine, make Anthem free and not charge $60, $80 or $120 for different types.
    Not interested in Anthem either way as I hate games with mech suites and hate multiplayer/co-op games even more.

    • @MassEffectFollowers
      @MassEffectFollowers  6 років тому

      If Anthem is free, the cost of the microtransactions/DLC/loot boxes or what ever they have in the game would be very expensive to cover the cost of the game. Then, if it only relies on that system of revenue, it would be very difficult for the game to continue development on future content or sequels because it would have no real profit to start the budget for that continuing development cost.
