Those engines are small but mighty
Indeed they are! They sound great too!
I enjoy hearing those iae engine's on takeoff. They sound so relaxing and they're also fun to listen to.
Me too, the IAEs are one of my favorites to listen to!
Yeah except American uses the CFM motors.
@@thomasvaughan3135 They use both the CFMs and the IAEs, hence this one.
The IAE's are always a treat. Much preferred over the CFM's
Oh yeah they never fail to impress. One of my favorite engine sounds out there!
Nice video
Thank you!
What device (model) did you use to record this clip? The audio quality of the engines spooling up is so good!
Glad you enjoyed! iPhone 14 Pro.
Classic AA A321 night take off out of JFK
You know it!
I love when I takeoff at night its so biutefu and you can slip
One of the best times to fly for sure!

Why you can hear jet rattle when sitting in front of the cabin
It’s usually the overhead bins, bags inside those, and items/carts in the galleys (you can hear this in the back too). The plane is going so fast that it’s normal for those things to shake during takeoff and landing.
The jet goes about 150 mph down the runway during take off. Then once it's airborne, it goes even faster. It's totally normal to hear rattling sounds during roll out. If you heard nothing at all, THAT would be a problem. Noise is good on airplanes; silence usually isn't.
I wish the Airbus neos retained the IAE and CFM sounds.
They basically sound like the A350 during takeoff and taxing.
Yeah, the IAE/CFM sounds are fantastic! The NEO and all new engines today sound like vacuum cleaners, they’re pretty boring.
Seriously, the new engines that are supposed to be more “efficient” (e.g. 737 MAX, A321 Neo, 787, A220 etc.) sound SO boring and lame; I really really do miss the howling and moaning sounds of the engines spooling up on older model planes (I remember the 777-200ER also had a really cool multi-stage spool up sound before takeoff; not sure if it was the RR or PW.)
@@thetoughpanda not to mention it takes at least two minutes just to startup one engine. IAE takes only 45 seconds and CFM takes only 30 seconds.
These engines are only efficient in terms of burning less fuel to provide a longer range for flights, which is why the A321neo can do transatlantic flights between New York and London.
I love the 777-300ER GE90 engines during taxing and engine start. During the takeoff run, not as much.
@@SYDAirlineEnthusiast Exactly. And yes, the 777-300ER GE90 spool up sound is nowhere as good as it’s predecessor, the -200ER. If I remember correctly, the RR engines on the 757 sounded pretty awesome too. It is an absolute tragedy how Boeing decided to discontinue the 757, which was hands down the greatest single-aisle aircraft that was ever made and arguably one of the best designs in the history of Boeing (the other being the 747.)
It is also extremely sad how all the airlines decided to get rid of the turboprops. On the Dash-8, if you had a window seat next to the wings, you could literally see the landing gear of the plane extend/retract and make contact with the runway on landing.
By the way, what device are you using to film these clips? The audio quality is very good! For some reason, the “record stereo sound” option on the newer model iPhones seems to muffle the engine sounds :(
@@thetoughpanda you do realize I am not the one who uploaded this video, right?
