  • Today on HamRadioComms I show my transceivers, accessories, and tell why I have them in my shack. I have a lot of information in this video, so grab a cup of coffee and settle in for some shack time with N1UHF.

Very good video. Not just a point-and-brag presentation. Good information presented. Thanks.

Hello! Could you tell me how to do "single side repeat" on the FTM-300D? I am familiar with how to setup the radio for cross-band repeat. Thank You, 73 de N3RBG

Thank you for the tour. I'm curious if you kept the Alinco DR-735 or got rid of it for the Yaesu 300DR? I want to get one but am on the fence between the 2.

Nice station Ed! Good choice of radios. I like the IC-7100 but never owned one. They are a great buy. Hey, I found an IC-703+ about 6 weeks after you bought the one I was interested in. It came with a CW filter and a custom cover. So now we are both set! Take care buddy...73!

Hi Gary.. thanks! yes, excellent buy on those 7100s, cheapest all in one type radio by far.
Congrats on finding a nice 703! They're so much fun, and with the punchy audio from the mic, 10W, compression, the signal gets out way better than my 818.. and easier to listen to with the DSP/NR ..
      73, all the best!

Should only show power out when speaking, however if the TUNE button is pushed in by accident it will also show power out.

Please tell me more about the Roman Numeral clock! I started building one, but could not get the code to work right. Mostly because it was written in Japanese and when i converted it, the code got corrupted.

Hi.. I bought the LED clock on ebay about 20 years ago from someone in MA.. might have been the builder of it, not sure. It's 18"x4"Hx3.5" deep made of wood and plexiglass in the back, and a smoked clear glass in the front. At certain angles in good light you can see all of the LEDs and circuit board.
It runs off of 110vac. The label on the back reads:
      Landis Electronics, Norton, MA 02766
My understanding is it was made at a home electronics shop.
It has been running continuously in my shacks for the past 20 years.

@@hamradiocomms Awesome! Thank you. The one I built uses 16-segment display LED modules that are 3" tall. A guy from Japan made the original and I found a video of his on UA-cam and sent him a message. We had to use a translator and he ended up sending me the code, but I could not get it to work. I gave up on it, but it is still on some breadboards. It took a lot of breadboards, because the display was huge, because it had 8 of the 16-segment displays. Maybe one day I can get it working.

What shoe do you wear when doing 2 meter… and why did you choose that pair over others? Also, since the Vx-6 is submersible, have you ever used it under water?

    • @hamradiocomms
      @hamradiocomms  3 роки тому +1

Lol... I haven't used my VX-6 under water, but I bet it would work... I saw the Radio Prepper put his VX-6 in a bowl of water and receive repeater conversations!

WOW, the last time I saw Alex was about 4 = - years ago, he was in his so-called new place and gearing up for online. My place was in West Haven, up the street from UNH, I sold it in 90 due to an offer of a good job. Anyway, nice shack enjoy.

I saw Alex last right after he moved into the small place behind the strip mall… this was probably in 2007ish maybe? I use to get a lot of my equipment from his old store with the CB stuff he had too.
That’s funny, I lived in West Haven in 90 91 during the recession rented a room from my sisters condo, I was about 1.5 miles from Jimmy’s … I lived on Greta st I wasn’t into ham radio yet, I was metal detecting though on the beaches and working at the west haven Walgreens.
I got a good job right after that on 92 dir of IT at co. In Norwalk and then Westport

@@hamradiocomms lol, My store was on Rt 1 across from A&E glass on the corner. Communications Outlet, Before that I was a partner with Communications Plus on first ave. That owned the 505 repeater at the FH on Meloy rd on the hill. Partners isn't good so I sold out and opened on RT 1. Going into my 4th year I was offered a job with FDIC so I sold the store. However I still stadied involved with radio by working on my off days as the tech at CB City, leaving there in 2000.

@@buzzsah Thats great you were able to have fun with radios after selling the store... I think I know the area the shop was in, I use to go to an excellent magazine store i think was near by , was on the left as you came down the big hill towards NHaven, I"d get my treasure hunting and metal detecting magazines there.

@@hamradiocomms I vagly remember it, I hardly ever went down that was, the back roads were faster for me. I'd go that way on the way to Hatry's, next to CT, school of electronics. So, here I'm in Branford, CT. waiting for Henri to stop by. kb1vi
