What surprises me most is that he is basing the gameplay and level layout based on the [HD]PS3 version instead of the simpler [SD]Wii version, this is quite impressive considering the limitations of the 3DS which is basically a handheld Dreamcast.
I honestly really like generations 3ds even if the game is a little too short I feel like people are too harsh on these games people act as if all of them were terrible but honestly it was way better then what we got in the game gear or psp while still not being as good as the advance or ds games
That's because it was. Back when Unleashed was made Sonic was still a big name AAA IP just like Mario except it was 3rd party multi plat. They started cutting budget later on as they sold less and that in turn meant the games scale shrunk more and more and game quality declined.
There are more unofficial ports of unleashed on outdated, rudimentary hardware than there is of official ports on modern consoles that can actually run it
Thanks for showing this off, I was able to install it on my New 2DS XL and even if they never do anything else with it it is one hell of a tech demo if nothing else. Really shows you what could have been. The thing that irritated me a bit is that the intro movie's sound had the quality of an early 2000s cinema bootleg recorded on a camcorder. They have to do some processing to get that stuff to sound good on real hardware. I hope the sound effects won't suffer the same problem once they get implemented
When/if you get to that point I really wanna see what the final boss will be like, it’s perfect on Xbox…and it’s good on the Wii I haven’t played it though, maybe some new mechanics can be added, either because of the size/length of the boss or just for fun.
Really cool to see the other version of this game continue to be developed ever sense our build ended, but I'm glad to see someone continue to develop a port in someway.

It's definitely rough around the edges right now, but an amazing proof of concept nonetheless. A lot will probably be refined in the future.
