My friend go to UA-cam and watch a professional entertainer at work, Dennis DeYoung on the keyboards, nobody does it better. The Music of Styx, Dennis's current band is incredible as well. In Canada they are a top band, around the US they play all over, personally have attended three of there shows over the last 10 years, tremendous.
Interesting that for being so outspoken and against Mr. Roboto (and Dennis) for that era of their music, they play it in concert 40 years later at the end of the show.
Yes it is! Classic double speak for years by Shawl and other members of the band. Mr. Robot was an inavative song/video concept. It caught the attention of the rock music world, bringing much attention to an already successful band at the top of their game among rock fandom. Mr. Robot is as popular today as it was in the early 80's, bringing in a whole new generation of fans to be expose TO THE MUSIC of SYTX. Shaw left the band for a couple of years. All band members were angry, wanted Shaw replaced, Dennis supported Shaw, wanting to let him stay and come back when ready. Shaw did return! Dennis discovered Shaw and asked him to join STYX. Wow the empathy shown by Shaw and company in 1999 when Dennis asked for some time away for a health issue. Shaw basically kicked DeYoung out of his own band. I will never forgive them for doing this. The rock world are the losers in this case because the individual talent of DeYoung is incredible, the music DeYoung and Shaw presented to the public was unmatched in most cases.Dennis is a consemat actor, song writer and singer the rock world has yet to duplicate.

TS/JJ didnt like nor wanted to play it, but here they are playing....because the fans. Adding to that, DD is open to a reunion but these guys arent (which is fine), but if they did THAT IS WHAT THE FANS WANT and would sell out arenas for one last tour.

A great, live band. A catalog of classic songs. Plus, the last 2 studio albums ( The Mission & Crash of The Crown ) are as strong as any of their best known albums. Enough stellar music that the set list could change every show.

Larry used to play the piano for me when i was 6 and he was 13. Even as a kid, he was pure talent. He played hockey for my Dad and I went to school with his brother Terry. We used to pick him up when his dad had to work. The nicest guy ever.
@@robbspeck5135 Dennis greatly affected many of Tommy's songs, and to a lesser extent, vice versa. I can't imagine what Fooling Yourself would sound like without the awesome synth work of Dennis. Renegade would not have been a rock song if DDY's hadn't suggested it. Too much time on my hands would have sounded vastly different, Blue Collar Man would have sounded vastly different. Dennis greatly contributed to the sound & riffs in those songs. They were an amazing team together.
They should just get over themselves and do one more tour together... Lawrence is decent but can't touch Dennis...at least not ther last time he was active..Dennis might be too old now..might be too late, but that would be big money for them.... Dennis is so much better, but to be honest i don't like watching him...looks like a cruise ship lounge lizard...but neither here nor there.
You've never had someone in your life you never ever wanted to be near again, it's no different than a divorce or bad breakup, they know they could make big bucks if they did it, they don't want it even for the money. Their happy doing what they love, playing.
It's not just Tommy. JY feels the same way. Just watched the AXS TV The Big Interview with Dan Rather and Styx. Tommy and JY addressed the issue. They said that DDY and the two of them cannot agree on anything. Tommy said dealing with DDY was too much trouble and that life is too short to be miserable. JY totally agreed.

It’s obviously not about the money. It’s obvious that when they decided they didn’t want Dennis anymore, they started to tour without him and wanted to see if they could survive. If nobody showed up, they would have broken up. But enough people showed up that they made enough money to continue. Not as much money but still enough to be worth their time. They’re all old guys. They don’t want to deal with needless drama. It seems to me it’s Dennis that needs to chill out.

With Dennis.....out of the way, they could become the non-stop never ending touring machine the band became, and that Gowan agreed to since day one that was let out of the bag fairly recently. That's the life they choose. It's never what Dennis wanted, but he did want to tour, just not....non-stop. And why should he be forced into that? Why wasn't it just good enough to just be an amazing band with a more manageable touring schedule?
Perhaps they should change their name to 'The Mutineers.' Without Dennis DeYoung, they're just hypocrites for continuing to use the Styx name. Oh, that's it, they should call themselves 'Stynx" instead.

I turned 60 in August. Styx in 1981 was my first concert and my love for Gibson Explorers comes from watching Tommy play his that night 42 years ago.
