    Visited this magical little seaside village with my family back in the early 1990s.
    It was a dreamlike experience the memories of which I have enjoyed ever since and will continue to do so until the day I die.

    I all but grew up in North Devon from the 1960s on till I was 21 with Dad n Mum, grandparents, aunts n uncles we would go to on Hols to North Devon Croyde bay, Barnstable, Ilfracombe. Such happy childhood, then early adulthood with my children. Clovelly was back then very special and still so although very much more commercial now still a great place like the last piece of England as was . 6 generations of my family have been going to Devon for 100yrs . Gods own county. Thanks for posting this takes me right back mum has film of my sister n I on the beach I'm about4 she's maybe 18mths playing in the sea happy glorious times, that went by to fast .

      Lovely to hear your story. I lived in Ashburton, near Newton Abbott, back in the 1960's. Great memories of those days also.

    I saw this delightful, charming place on an episode of Jeeves and Wooster. Your lovely video showed a lot of the village and it is now firmly on my list of places to visit in 2023. Lovely production and thanks for making, and posting it. Merry Christmas.

    Amazing South Western England, cool and calm Devon county. So beautifully captured by the lenses. I remember someone of your subscribers had wished to make this video. I hope that person will be so happy and excited because of this elegant video.

    I am hoping to visit on Thursday or Friday. Do you have to pay for car park and visit separately or is it one charge for both?

    • @arcadia449
      @arcadia449  2 роки тому +1

      If I recall parking is free. You pass through a visitor centre and pay to enter the village.

    The jewel in North devon is not Clovelly! It's Lynton and Lynmouth and the brendon Valley! Pay to go to a village its a mini crowded theme park is Clovelly!

    How to travel to this place from Coventry via public transport?

    there are many jewels in North Devon, Clovelly is a testament to what happens when the brutalist developers, block paviors and breeze blocks aren't allowed to move in, many of those quirky features have disappeared from many streets and towns, in Nottingham there was a steep small road called Drury Hill, there are many pictures of it, they built the Broadmarsh shopping centre on top of it, the Broadmarsh whilst going through a refurbishment has gone bust and now there is a campaign to create a city garden, i wouldn't be surprised if there isn't an initiative to put Drury Hill back.

      Im from America, could you please explain what you mean in a way I would understand

    • @lukehanna7440
      @lukehanna7440 3 роки тому +1

      @@M4G4M4N he means Clovelly has been preserved to look like it has always looked, without any modernisation, no new hotels or houses built or concrete poured etc. because you can’t buy a house or land in this privately owned harbour village. So Developers have been kept out.
      He goes on to point out that Nottingham Uk, had historical streets that would rival York’s historical streets, and attract tourists, but in the 60-70s the Nottingham city council allowed them to be knocked down, and had a concrete shopping centre built over the top, which has recently gone bankrupt. If they hadn’t the buildings would now be listed, and they wouldn’t be allowed to knock them down ever. Back in the 60s 70s I imagine counsellors were easily bribed by developers to allow this historical destruction.
