I was fortunate to visit Luxembourg several times (lad from Smethwick lived in Netherlands, a day trip), fantastic country for biking. Agree with comments about Belgian roads, but they have improved greatly. When I lived in mainland Europe, a Belgian Govt couldn’t be formed (no majority) so there was no changes in spending for 2/3 years. Roads were not maintained, lanes on motorways were closed for kilometres because of their poor condition. Far worse than state of current UK roads. Looking forward to the rest of your trip.
