survival is the primary drive for any species, by whatever means necessary. sustainability has to be maintained if a species is to survive and in our society great change is absolutely necessary for sustainability. if we kill off the Earth and haven't gone into space at that point, our demise is absolutely certain. true the universe won't miss us, but we are the first here to have the ability to ensure it may never have to. we are still young and our fight isn't near over yet
Shark fin soup is a Chinese delicacy, not a Japanese. Just because the Japanese are famous for their whaling doesn't mean that all marine harvesting is performed by them. The Chinese have been shark finning for well over 500 years since the Ming Dynasty, and it's pretty hard to get them to stop due to its cultural value to them.
They have to have water continuously running through their gills. I'm not sure exactly what they do but they could keep the shark alive by running a current through the box. I think. Maybe....
People watch one (biased) documentary and think they're animal cruelty activists. I don't think we should be blaming only japanese people; let's not forget that Americans were also involved in whaling during the 17th century. They were the ones who created the "crisis" in the first place since they weren't able to sustain a decent whale population (because they fished only for the oil or for fun). Im not saying that Japanese people are great for fishing, but they're not the only bad guys. :/
ahh i try to contain myself but i can't... Maddie, i love theee!.
god damn those eyes, made me watch and like the video.

Sadly, this is humanity in a nutshell: "It is not necessary to change. Survival is not necessary."
