As a Mexican, one thing I loved about Rick that separates him from other gringos, is the fact that he sticks to authenticity in his cooking, doesn’t try to “gringorize” it like other chefs I have seen, and has spent his entire life honoring our culinary traditions!
His foo foo restaurant does foo foo Mexican food, but so do a lot of high end Mexican restaurants nowadays. He does pay homage to the traditional food, he’s probably more Mexican than I am!?
A man that has spent a life time to get to know another culture and has mastered the cooking skills on our Mexican foods 👍👏proud he showing this to the world 🌎
I remember my little Mexican mom, who didnt know the language, always tuning in to watch his cooking episodes, and loving his accent when he said things in Spanish, always saying "Si sabe, si sabe" every time he made everything true to culture. He was a staple in our home here❤❤❤
A girlfriend and I had that same experience in Baja CA 20 years ago. Invited in for lunch by a gracious, yet "poor" family. 2 folding chairs and a Dirt floor living room. Bike rim over a fire near the door for cooking. Wonderful hosts, wonderful little bean and tortilla meal. Never forget the hospitality. Viva Mexico!!
As a Mexican, I can assure you Rick Bayless is more Mexican than a lot of Mexican Americans I know personally. In Mexico we have a saying "los mexicanos nacemos donde nos da la rechingada gana", and even though he was born in Oklahoma, he's Mexican to me
Nothing against him. He’s seems talented and it seems like he’s done right by the culture. But until he uses his platform to empower and elevate Latinos, specifically Latino entrepreneurs and culinary artists, it’s borderline cultural appropriation. Let Mexicanos tell their own stories of their culture and cuisine. Enough with others telling our stories and Mexicans not supporting each other with comments like “I know Rick Bayless is more Mexican Americans”. Eye roll 🙄. And yes, I’m Mexican too.
Every year i donate backpacks and school supplies to remote villages in central Mexico and i have experienced that for myself many times. As if seeing those barefoot children didn't humble you enough, the fact that these people are willing to share with you the last morsel of food they have, makes you great full for all you have.
I have his first book & others autographed by him. My husband & I celebrated a wedding anniversary in his first restaurant Frontera Grill, when it had just opened. He’s great!!!
Me encanta ver cómo la gente de otros lugares disfrutan de las costumbres y la comida de mi país. En cada estado pueden encontrar comida deliciosa y gente maravillosa. Muchas gracias por el reportaje. 😊
when I was a child, I used to watch KPBS ( public television station) when I saw for the first time "one played at a time" he is one of the first people that ever had a cooking channel about Mexican food. thank you Rick for always being authentic💖.... much love from Mèxico 🙂
Chef Rick Bayless has such a sweet and kind way of transmitting the richness in life, through his cooking and storytelling... Boy, that egg story almost brought tears to my eyes. How I miss my mamá and abuelita's cooking 😢❤
What happens when you embrace another culture/language/country, that is also our neighbor instead of criminalize it, shun it as lesser than us and mock it. Thank you Rick
I love the respect and dedication Mr Rick Bayless has shown our Mexican culinary culture. Nothing but respect for him. Loved watching his PBS series growing up in Milwaukee WI
EVEN WITH JUST HER DOING A SMALL PART WORK FOR A BIT TO EAT ON CAMERA SHE GETS A SMALL AMOUNT OF RESPECT FROM THE MEXICAN CULTURE FOR THAT GREAT STORY TOO
En el estado de Hidalgo de donde es originaria la barbacoa se hace con las pencas del maguey! Esa es la real y auténtica Barbacoa. Y es de el estado de Hidalgo.
Nothing against him. He’s seems talented and it seems like he’s done right by the culture. By that, I mean he seems to enjoy the culture. But until he uses his platform to empower and elevate Latinos, specifically Latino entrepreneurs and culinary artists, it’s borderline cultural appropriation. To be clear, appropriation involves profiting from other cultures (it’s novel for him) and not giving that culture a seat at the table. Let Mexicanos tell their own stories of their culture and cuisine. Enough with others telling our stories and Mexicans not supporting each other with comments like “I know Rick Bayless is more Mexican Americans”. Eye roll 🙄. And yes, I’m Mexican too.
Ironically ,TAMALES are a big scam in Mexican Cuisine. Down here ,they serve Tamales with a tiny small part of meat only the rest its just tortilla or wherever the rest of the other crap is . I know I'm in Mexico

That's right the respect of a very old culinary culture like the Mexican food,
💯🥰🙌🏻🙌🏻
It sounds to me as though he LOVES the traditions of Mexico as well. Authenticity
A man that has spent a life time to get to know another culture and has mastered the cooking skills on our Mexican foods 👍👏proud he showing this to the world 🌎
And making money of it, I hope at least he return somerhing to Mexican community in the USA, other than cheap jobs
This chef is one in ten million! I’ve learned so much from him over the years.
Give thanks to Mexican culture, not the thief

Watching Rick for decades on PBS - I had never known his background! Anthropology!

This man’s ( Chef) heart is full of pure goodness ! ❤
Thank you for sharing the love you received from the old lady 👵 ❤
I just cried with the one egg story

I cried as well!
This story made me cry
Rick has always been great, skilled, and reverential toward Mexico. I have always enjoyed his books and shows.
Thank you chef rick for honoring Oaxaca, and showing the world the sophistication, complexity and richness of delicious Oaxaca’s food
Much love for Mr. Rick Bayless. Introduced me to mexican cooking even though he was Anglo. Didn't matter afterwards.
The good Bayless.
the lady interviewing him is Ex First take host Dana Jacobson.
Thank you, Rick, for respecting the food, culture, and rich traditions that go back hundreds of years in Mexico! Feliz Navidad🎅
All the chefs that were out, he was my favorite chef. I am Hispanic and he can speak Spanish better than I can.
My favorite chef 😊
I watch all of Ricks videos on UA-cam! He’s the ultimate host!!
I have his first book & others autographed by him. My husband & I celebrated a wedding anniversary in his first restaurant Frontera Grill, when it had just opened. He’s great!!!

His show about making different Mexican meals is really interesting to watch.
I remember watching his show as a kid. He truly loves and respect the Mexican cuisine and culture
Chef Rick Bayless has such a sweet and kind way of transmitting the richness in life, through his cooking and storytelling... Boy, that egg story almost brought tears to my eyes. How I miss my mamá and abuelita's cooking 😢❤
Love your work and thanks so very much 🙏
He has so much passion and information on Mexico wow how beautiful

Blessings upon you & yours, Chef. Feliz Navidad, Rick.
mad respect i really loving this guy
I love Mexican food
Am I missing why the cookbook Mi Cocina by Rick Martinez was shown when Rick Bayless' nine cook books were on screen?
Rick is a real one when it comes to mexican food.
Hard to believe that such a nice and respectful person like Rick has a brother like Skip Bayless. 😅
They are truly opposite. Not surprising that they don’t talk to each other.
@pytube777 really? I did not know that.
@ according to Skip they have nothing in common. Rick was into cooking and Skip was into sports. It was explained in one of Skip’s YT video.
I cant' believe I didn't know his brother was skip bayless LOL
Bendiciones para el Chef Bayless y su familia y a todos los que lean este mensaje
I remember watching the first shows 'One plate at a time' With her daughter Laney, she was around 9 years old
Chef is a great dude, take care
I've always wanted to eat at his restaurant in Chicago O'Hare
It is about as good as airport food gets! It’s a must have at O’Hare
One of my fav 💗
Wow Laney is now a mommy!
Que Suave! Rick...
Mexican food is the best in the world ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Real Mexicans respect Rick Bayless, thats all I have to say.
Wow! Que bueno!!!!!!
LOVE, Every living thing!!!!!
He's quite well-preserved 😉
haha😂
Been to XOCO for a breakfast dish and it was fantastic!
Rick Bayless lives! 🤠 🐍
This guy gets it.
One of the books shown at the start (Mi Cocina) is by Rick Martinez, a Mexican American chef living in Mazatlan. Please correct that.
I’m sorry-but why isn’t his name on the title?! Gotta try his tacos if you haven’t
Yum!
EVEN WITH JUST HER DOING A SMALL PART WORK FOR A BIT TO EAT ON CAMERA SHE GETS A SMALL AMOUNT OF RESPECT FROM THE MEXICAN CULTURE FOR THAT GREAT STORY TOO
🙏🙏🙏
Mexican food is king!
❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
At 1:59 my boy Skip!!
“¡Ya llegaron sus ricos y deliciosos tamales Oaxaqueños!”
He’s Written 9 Cook Books on How to

Get our if here !!To any real chefs he definitely thinks he knows it all but hey kudos to you😊Bayless
Chef Rick is certified Mexican
Is that an old pic of his brother Skip Bayless
I wonder if Skip is invited for Christmas 🎄 dinner?
Definitely
@@Mari000 Invited but probably doesn't show up. They're not close at all. Skip did a interview about it.
who is Skip?
@@alro11 better to not know
It is my turn! - Skip
Please don't tell everyone to go to Oaxaca. Let's keep our secret.
Is he related to Skip? LOL
Yes. You can clearly see they look just alike. That's his older brother. Skip has said it himself previously.
They’re brothers with very different interests & both wildly successful
SKIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!
Him and his brother should reconcile. Sad situation.
This guys brother is such a clown 😂😂😂
Frontera Grill in Chicago was overpriced and the salsa was not very good. The steak was good though. WHy do I have to pay for chips and salsa?
I resent having to pay for chips & salsa in a Mexican restaurant because they’ve always been free!
It's a great place actually
@@wa2k99 Its okay I wasn't really that impressed.
Skip’s brother!
Así es como se hace con hojas de aguacate 🥑 😎
En el estado de Hidalgo de donde es originaria la barbacoa se hace con las pencas del maguey! Esa es la real y auténtica Barbacoa. Y es de el estado de Hidalgo.
Mi Cocina is not by Rick Bayless but Rick Martinez, y’all are shameless
I noticed that too... Rick is a great chef too, but has no connection to Rick that I know of......
THIS IS NOT MEXICO!
@@Dearthvader2 They’re in his home in Chicago, but he also has a home in Mexico.
Yeah, a pretty embarrassing goof on CBS’s part. Some intern needs a talking to! Heh.

Cracks me up that this skip bayless’s brother
Is this ex first take host Dana Jacobson? It must feel weird for her.
Skip Bayless > Rick Bayless

I know I'm in Mexico
Stop stealing mexico recipes, you do not give credit to mexico for wealth to mexico. Amrecinas are so geedy and colonies every country in the map.
