I feel like the part where she's stabbing someone with a quill is very symbolic of how everyone who fights online about stupid things is a real person with feelings behind the screen. Both characters are shown startled/scared, and I interpret that as them realising they are needlessly hurting each other. When she does stab them with the quill, it reminds me of how writing your words hurts other people in ways you might not understand. The colours seem like an allegory for how distracted and overstimulated you can get while scrolling, or on the Internet altogether. Overall, I think the animations really added to the music!

"Within this black spiral, everyone acts entitled You're just one more rival, don't ever meet your idols Decline to low vitals, don't care about survival Just wanna go viral, we feed this vicious cycle" Is my favourite, the rythm, vocals, and lyrics itself
The project of expressing human emotion and situations through song is a breath of fresh air. Strives me to continue working on my own project of pushing humanity to a new level, in other words: Wonderful job :)
As a creator of any sort, I think we can all deeply connect with this. But even if you're not a creator, so much of this song applies. Technology is really outpacing what we're capable of.
as usual, absolutely obsessed!! this song is both a huge vibe and it carries a very necessary message for current western society. the lyrics are so eloquent, succinct, and relatable. the sickening media addiction (and the consequential issues that plague the social media industries and culture) that has enveloped our generation is everyone's problem, yet everyone's too keyed up on dopamine to spare a second and talk about it. thanks kat and netrum for another wonderful masterpiece!!
loving the way the format of this song is like an algorithm-pleasing video being mimicked in and of itself - a catchy opening followed by a brief break, like an intro; following up is a series of equally catchy stanzas with a toned down bridge that almost comes across as a montage (within this black spiral / ...) and ending with a high-energy note in the music and high-stakes scene in the art.
banger song and the fact that it describes the difficulties of being a cc? amazing fav scene is when derivakat(the archivist) stabs kat with a quill like a knife the colors are GORGEOUS
This song literally gives me chills. Especially the line when the almost creepy voice is tryna be reassuring like 'embrace your identity, don't be afraid' and then it comes back in with your voice saying 'only show the artificial life you create' like OMG. As someone who has discovered the identity that makes me comfortable, I'm almost scared to exist and embrace it on the internet and with people, so I feel this sm. Absolutely BANGER lyrics and rhythm and EVERYTHING!!! I've been listening to this nonstop fr. You're INCREDIBLE!!!
It’s been 4 months and I finally checked out this song, HOLY CRAP MAN. The emphasis in the second verse, the whole bridge and the way the song builds… this is so cool!
I haven't left a real comment on a YT video in what must be years, but the changeup from the DSMP era is fantastic. I loved your music then, it was absolutely wonderful. But this is just something else. I'm actually blown away by this and Tool, they're really up my alley for music taste. Also, the 'Archive' thing seems AWESOME. I was expecting each song to have a different archive for a different kind of emotion or something like that, instead Cycle/Tool/Smile all have the same Archive of Anger. It's so neat. It's just, so, I don't know, special? Unique? You're able to write your songs about Anger in, so far, three different ways and I FEEL IT IN ALL OF THEM. Absolutely amazing work. You're a fantastic Archivist!!!!
I love every new video you release, including this one!!! The song is absolutely stunning and the video is so so cool!!! You're one of my biggest inspirations :000
The cycle and the curse of making content. This is the reality we live in and the reality we created. Artists slowly lose their own identity and passion towards what they love because of numbers that don't even say everything about humanity as a whole. Everything is Gluttony, always wanting more without any chance to stop. We can't stop the cycle globally, unfortunately. We can only change it in our lives and hope for the best, but even that isn't enough, is it? Regardless of my thoughts, this was a pretty good song. Subbed.
I smell irony, self-deprecation, and of course, that classic new-era Derivakat shining a light on the current societal issues plaguing us teenagers and young adults today, down to the parasocial relationships we form with others... And yes, this tune ain't yet out in my timezone.
Я не слышал ничего более офигенного, чем эта песня. Я просто влюбился в нее навсегда. Не удивляйся. У тебя есть фанаты по всему миру! Даже из России. I have never listened anything better then this song. I fell in love with it. It's gonna be my favorite forever. Don't be surprised. You've got fans from around the world. Even from Russia.
This song is really fit in my mood right now. This is what I've been feeling for a long time, but didn't know how to describe. Maybe song is about different thing, but it's echoing in my mind right now. Something fell into place after listening this. I really dont know what it was yet but I am very grateful to you for helping me, even though you didn't plan to. Thank you
Great view of you discovering that we are all carrot stick rabbit (a rabbit with carrot hanging in front by a stick attached to its back), that way, happiness is out of reach
This is so deep. The thought of rebelling against an unofficial societal principle. History repeats even if we learn. The idea of change constantly continues, but instinct is inevitably recurring. Now rebelling against the cycle. That’s really gonna take everyone to work…
I am not sure what fate bounded me to this song, but it is starting to make me realize that even though people don't say it, technology has already taken away everything from us, just not in the way we expected it to.
this is gonna sound very stupid but this song found me (or maybe i found it) at the right time because i have been trying to stop using social media and this song perfectly encapsulates what i feel when i find out how much i use yt or yt shorts, i have started my journey an i successfully stopped using too much yt and completely stopped using yt shorts.
The song is amazing! I have been listening to your music since your first dsmp song and you keep improving every song you make! I absolutely love this one and it will def be my new stim song!
this has got to be my favourite song of yours, or, more likely, my favourite song ever! the vocals, the lyrics, the instruments, everything about it is incredible! so obsessed with the art and the attention to detail from all of you, absolutely fabulous! especially with what sounds like the “end of audio” TikTok sound at the end, and all the emotions captured, it’s so good and the hype was so worth it!
I keep seeing people commenting thinking this only applies to content creators. Maybe that was the intent, but I think it's deeper than that. This really is our culture right now. We're treated like products to be sold, told we need to market ourselves to others to find connection and success in life. We're treated like we live in a social caste system, like everyone 'lesser' are cattle and everyone 'better' are shepherds. We live in complex times and our culture is now curated by those who would control us, but we are still most to blame for the good and the bad of our time. It's still up to us to make healthier choices and be the change. Most of us want the same things and have the same end goals, but we've been pitted against each other in a rat race that leaves us all exhausted and bitter. To pull from Bug's Life of all places, we are the ants and we vastly out number the grasshoppers. Why are we still playing games we know are rigged against us?
This video I came across is outstanding and feels so professional. The vivid colors and the screeny side effect all throughout the music video felt so strong and intriguing to the eye; matching the strong tone in the song. I love this! Very inspiring!! Amazing work both Qaramello and especially Retrovist for such a creative work of art all together!!!
This is so true and relevant to today's society but i have to admit i cant stop my adiction to the internet but listening to this made me snap back but even with all this i dont think i can stop which is really the song as a whole😭
This song really does show the biggest problem in society regarding phone addiction and social media, this might be the first time an artist actually addresses this! Great song!
Took me a rewatch or two to realize that the other person, shown in a few frames and the one who the Archivist stabs with the quill towards the end, is Derivakat outside of the Archivist persona.
I'm being fully honest when I say, this song, is one of my favorite songs of this year! Masterfully written and the beat matches the intensity of the situation a lot of us feel stuck in, incredible 10/10- ik this has been around so far for 2 weeks? But man, this NEEDS more views/attention!
You know a song is so good that you put it on repeat and it never gets boring. And these visuals are absolutely amazing. I can’t begin to explain how good this is. Good job guys!
AHHH! IT'S OUT! I love this new album! Honestly, I wouldn't knew about you if your song Viper wasn't recommended to me on Spotify. I love every song you make and by far Viper, Tool, Nightmare and Cycles are my favorite! I can't wait for what other emotion based songs for this album will await! (If you want I have some anger based titles if needed), but still, love your work! Stay hydrated queen

first of all this is one of the most beautiful and relatable songs ive ever heard in my entire life second of all ive had the overwhelming urge to create an animatic for this song based off of the episode of Nightmare Time called Watcher World, specifically Alice Woodward, since it fits too well
This song is very relatable, even for me. Just distracts you and traps you to see stuff your brain can't handle. And we wonder why we are always stressed, it's because of this loop we are all trapped in, never ending. This song will have a place in my heart because it's just telling us to stop scrolling further down the rabbit hole. Thanks for making this song, I enjoyed it a lot :)

Lyrics:
Wake up, first thing
Always tryna get ahead
No more dreaming
Fragments of it in my head
Addiction is compulsory
Agreeing just to disagree
Pull ourselves apart into debris
'Cause algorithms haunt me, air your dirty laundry
Hang it all on me
Getting sick of scrolling down, down, down, down
Messed up, give me your confession
Never learn our lessons
Getting sick of scrolling down, down, down, down
Start the countdown
Feeding the anxiety
Blacked out, burnt up
We can't survive this industry
Just say what's on your mind
Just shut up, you'll be fine
Just keep letting the cycle run you over and over and over again
Taunt me, air your dirty laundry
Hang it all on me
Getting sick of scrolling down, down, down, down
Messed up, give me your confession
Never learn our lessons
Getting sick of scrolling down, down, down, down
Within this black spiral, everyone acts entitled
You're just one more rival, don't ever meet your idols
Decline to low vitals, don't care about survival
Just wanna go viral, we feed this vicious cycle
(Take your own time) But it's always a race
Nobody will care if you come in second place
(Embrace your identity, don't be afraid)
But only show the artificial life you create
Fight to stay relevant
Disregard our negligence
It's evident, it's prevalent
We've halted our development, doomed to repeat this cycle
'Cause algorithms haunt me, air your dirty laundry
Hang it all on me
Getting sick of scrolling down, down, down, down
Exhausted, think I finally lost it
Drew the line and crossed it
Getting sick of scrolling down, down, down, down
We're gonna keep falling down, down, down, down
The wheel will go on spinning 'round, 'round, 'round, 'round
Never escape scrolling down, down, down, down
The cycle keeps on going 'round, 'round, 'round, 'round

Я не слышал ничего более офигенного, чем эта песня. Я просто влюбился в нее навсегда. Не удивляйся. У тебя есть фанаты по всему миру! Даже из России. I have never listened anything better then this song. I fell in love with it. It's gonna be my favorite forever. Don't be surprised. You've got fans from around the world. Even from Russia.

*finishes listening to the song* "wow. That was great. I wonder what's on shorts rn..."
THE SHOT AT 2:38 IS SO STUNNING!!! AAAA QARAMEIIO IS SO SKILLED DUDE
AHA
motivation for creation just for a few hours, isn't it again?
This song is really fit in my mood right now. This is what I've been feeling for a long time, but didn't know how to describe. Maybe song is about different thing, but it's echoing in my mind right now. Something fell into place after listening this. I really dont know what it was yet but I am very grateful to you for helping me, even though you didn't plan to. Thank you
I’m gonna put this in my playlist
Great view of you discovering that we are all carrot stick rabbit (a rabbit with carrot hanging in front by a stick attached to its back), that way, happiness is out of reach
Such a fucking bop, best song you've made yet hands down. (also "just shut up you'll be fine" goes hard af)
It’s not really technology, though. It’s us.
This did not disappoint at all you were able to take an emotion and perfectly articulate it. I love it ❤
Yes the song and vocals are amazing BUT CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT THE VIDEO?! LIKE THAT WAS SO COOL!! THEY DID AN OUTSANDING JOB! ITS INCREDIBLE!
This very quickly became one of my favourite songs. It’s really cool to see what Kat can make without inspiration from dsmp
this is gonna sound very stupid but this song found me (or maybe i found it) at the right time because i have been trying to stop using social media and this song perfectly encapsulates what i feel when i find out how much i use yt or yt shorts, i have started my journey an i successfully stopped using too much yt and completely stopped using yt shorts.
I’ve already listened to it countless times on spotify but i think the visuals really add to the song!! I love it so much :D
I LOVE THE BEAT AND THE ANIMATION. This song is so relatable about social media being a cycle, a competition, and being addicted.
The song is amazing! I have been listening to your music since your first dsmp song and you keep improving every song you make! I absolutely love this one and it will def be my new stim song!
2:35 there are fire ass transition with the song too, honestly perfect
I listened to this song for hours on end! Favorite part is “black out, burned up.” Idk why but I’ll be listening to this till the day I die
this has got to be my favourite song of yours, or, more likely, my favourite song ever! the vocals, the lyrics, the instruments, everything about it is incredible! so obsessed with the art and the attention to detail from all of you, absolutely fabulous! especially with what sounds like the “end of audio” TikTok sound at the end, and all the emotions captured, it’s so good and the hype was so worth it!
I first saw the short at midnight so it actually gave me shivers!
Gives me the same vibe as Better Off Worse!! Love the song 🤩
I know what ill be listening to all week
derivakat is the one person you turn to that has your back.and this FIRES ME UP! common deriva w
Man I just stumbled upon this. Now I've liked and subbed. Definitely worth it man
Wait so, one song isn't an archive, but and archive is a collection of songs? LETS GO!
You are literally my favorite artist ever and I’m so glad that this finally came out I’m gonna put it on repeat during my flight.
Found this channel yesterday and now I can't stop listening to the songs, it's exactly the style I like
This is so true and relevant to today's society but i have to admit i cant stop my adiction to the internet but listening to this made me snap back but even with all this i dont think i can stop which is really the song as a whole😭
INCREDIBLE MUSIC ND VISUALS!!!!!! AHHHH
How does this only have 217 likes?! Like it’s my 2nd favorite non dsmp song from her! (Favorite is Breathe)
This song hit HARD for me. It’s very relevant for today and it HURTS.
"we've halted our development" that hit hard
I'm being fully honest when I say, this song, is one of my favorite songs of this year! Masterfully written and the beat matches the intensity of the situation a lot of us feel stuck in, incredible 10/10- ik this has been around so far for 2 weeks? But man, this NEEDS more views/attention!
Makes me feel like a badass rebel. I dunno why. It just does.
Also can we just accept how awesome this is? Banger vibes
Thank you posting this! It’s amazingly written
already heard it on Spotify... this is amazing... I love it
A great commentary, sad it took me this long to find this.
Also getting *extreme* Signalis vibes...
Man you never miss! This one was so real and captures what a lot of content creators go through as well as just social media as a whole.
You know a song is so good that you put it on repeat and it never gets boring. And these visuals are absolutely amazing. I can’t begin to explain how good this is. Good job guys!
THIS IS AMAZINGG, such a banger, and a song that a lot of people can relate to
Really love the message. I think its needed in this day and age.
Also very cool song.
AHHH!
Kat if you're reading this i just want you to know that I am super proud of you for growing as a creator and I also want you to know that YOUR WORK IS SO GOOODODOODODODOODODODODODODOODODODOODOODOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
W voice W lyrics W art W youtube channel W w
As per usual, Kat makes me question my life with every song, goddamn this is some of the best music I've ever heard!!!
Qaramello did a really great job in the music video, it looks so epic!!
Derivakat’s and Netrum’s musics is just bussin :D
Hope for more similar mvs in the future 🫶
This is fricking sick. I LOVE it
That was really good
That is the sound I needed to hear to subscribe
Amazing song
I love your music
Man I always forget how much I love derivakat until she releases a new song and I fall back in love with her music
So hyped I love this song! I'm so glad to have it on UA-cam so I can put it in my playlists
first of all this is one of the most beautiful and relatable songs ive ever heard in my entire life
second of all ive had the overwhelming urge to create an animatic for this song based off of the episode of Nightmare Time called Watcher World, specifically Alice Woodward, since it fits too well
This is such an amazing song that portrays so much feelings. I always enjoy your music Derivakat. Its truly amazing and filled with talent.
That was amazing!! The animation!! The vocals!! The harmonies?! I can’t get enough of your music!! 🫶
Good ole Deri-dere never fails to make that haunting and sweet flavor I need to so badly in my life. Kudos, kid.
i found you through the insta reel of this MV, its SO good i am so hooked❤
*nervously gets the popcorn before the premiere*
Every single song you write is amazing. It's impossible how talented you are.
