LUXURY HOTEL CARANA BEACH, MAHE, SEYCHELLES - INSIDE LOOK & WHAT TO DO ON MAHE ISLAND

- I recently travelled to the Seychelles Islands to do a cruise (see my other Seychelles videos) but as it's a long way to travel to the Seychelles from the UK I did a pre-cruise stay at the luxury Carana Beach Hotel which is on Mahe Island (the main island in the archipelago, and about fifteen minutes both from the airport and from the capital Victoria. This video offers an inside look at the hotel, looking at the bedrooms (called cabanas) including its sheets, balcony, bathroom and the free flipflops they provide for all guests to the grounds and gardens and the infinity pool and the hotel's private beach. Everywhere here comes with an ocean / sea view, including the restaurants. Talking of which...I also review the hotel's wonderful food and cuisine as well as the best things to do on Mahe island if you fancy doing more than flying and flopping. You can visit the vibrant market in capital Victoria as well as admire its own version of the Big Ben and there are also some great hikes. I went hiking on the Copolia trail which is about an hour each way - from the summit there's an amazing view of the 115-island strong archipelago. Another must-see is Mission Lodge, which was a former school for the children of slaves. Queen Elizabeth II visited here in 1972 (the Seychelles is in the Commonwealth) and was served a cup of tea with an amazing view. And lastly there's a spice plantation full of edible plants (think pineapples, sugar cane, pepper, star fruit) which is definitely worth visiting - it's called Le Jardin du Roi.
Be aware that the Seychelles isn't cheap but the Carana Beach Hotel is a very good option. Even better value is the week-long cruise with Variety Cruises which costs £1900 / $1900 per person full board, including the activities. But I really would do both during he same holiday/vacation - it's a long way to travel just for the cruise and a stay at a Seychelles hotel is a completely different and wondrous experience. I loved it!

wasn't this place dreamy Joe? They use the Seychelles rupee which you can only buy once out there. They also accept US dollars... off back to your side of the pond very soon...watch this space!!! XXX

I would LOVE to visit the Cape Verde islands - it just hasn't happened yet. Have you been?
@@gowithjo1 no I haven't been. But I live in an area of New England that has a large population of Cape Verdeans so I've always had an interest. I was hoping you would go first and then I could see if it's somewhere that I needed to see
