I was really surprised also by the color and the figuring in this little guy, I found this along with two others out on the mountain behind my house, cant wait to find some more :)
Your T-shirt looks like Walt Disney sneezed. ;) After the burl came off of the chuck I was yelling "STEADY REST" at the screen. I'm glad you heard me. :)
That was cool. A really respectful turn, I felt. You weren't bending the wood to your will, here, just letting it be what it wanted to be and show what it had to show. I think most turners would have epoxied and filled this piece and I appreciate that you went the more difficult, delicate route, this time. Good stuff. Thanks for the content, as ever, Todd. Keep up the good work.
P.s. if everyone wants to help him get his sub count up share it to another social media site...whether, or not you think your friends will dig it. UA-cam's algorithm will see that share & boost him to other people on you tube who like anything associated with wood turnig it is literally the best thing you can do for the people you support.
I love your videos. No music is good for me! Fantastic reactions catching the vase. It's a beautiful piece, really exciting. Looking forward to your challenge piece. Thanks for sharing your work. Live the dream and stay safe.
@@dukaheritage9445 thank you i kept putting Duka industries for some reason some thing happened to my tablet and i had to start from scratch any ways now i can watch projects i haven't seen yet
As always an incredibly beautiful piece. As for the music, I love your taste, especially the acoustic guitar. With that being said I also enjoy just hearing the work taking place.
Amazing piece, mate! It was good to see a natural turn and you’ve done it plenty of justice! Music, you can throw that in if you see fit. You’re setting the standard in every new video! Much love!
At the beginning of the video I was hoping for some resin casting. MAN AM I GLAD YOU DIDN'T DO THAT! The egg turned out awesome AND you had to use your brain to get it there. I think this one should be for Aurora!
THANKS David! This piece was made with a home in mind already but, I agree, she would have liked this one!! My kids have more woodwork decorating their spaces than most adults XD
Amazing once again. And if there was ever any doubt about your skills you cleared it right away with that seemingly effortless catch. Just wanted to let you know I always enjoy the music you choose but I was so fascinated by watching you work that I didn't even notice there was no music until you mentioned it! Seriously, I love what you do and your talent.
Dude, talk about character in wood, that's amazing, it has everything rolled into a small vase. And about the music, I honestly never noticed. I tune in to see what you're going to make, not what music your playing. Can't wait to see your YTCC Challenge piece.
Absolutely! She is always bouncing ideas and helping me when time allows. It's great to have someone to look at things with unique perspective too, keeps me out of my box. :)
Another great project! I'm good with no music but what you have done before is ok too. Sometimes I associate a piece of music with a certain channel and one piece you use I associate with another channel, Matt's off road recovery, not a problem, just an observation.
I think why your tendon failed isn't necessarily cause of the piece of wood that tore off it, you had way too much of a gap between your chuck jaws making it have uneven circumference pressure on your tenon. Jaws for a chuck are made of a single piece of steel and when the jaws are made it's a complete circle when the jaws are separated with 1/8" gap between the jaws.
Good stuff Appreciate you trying the no music thing. If you do throw it back in to try & keep everyone happy just ask you keep it low so we can enjoy your wood turning you are talented as all heck hope you find something that works you mos def earned my sub & support. A lot of us watch for the sound of turning as much as the love of the art. I wish I could find the wood you get you hands on...ok youtube stop censoring me I am literally talking ablut wood..from trees. Get your mind out of the gutter.
It's awesome! I liked the video perfectly. Just show it like it is and tell us what you're doing and thinking. The weird in this is gorgeous! Love the swirls etc. Btw does the note on the board mean you've gone thru 3 clocks so far lol? Thank you for another great video! Stay safe, Vickie (hey Shannon)
They use solvents to cut the surface tension of the oils, kinda like how soap cuts the tension of water 👍 lets the paper keep cutting, mineral oil can be a bit tougher to push thru when ur light sanding
Hey really enjoyed the video. Low key didn’t even notice that the music was missing but enjoyed the video maybe a little more. I was just thinking about how much you’ve grown on the video/editing side, it was funny you mentioned this at the end of the video. I know there seems to be a fierce debate on the music no music and for me I prefer captivating content, some relevant commentary, and with a little bit of tool sounds. Or if music is a must, as an accent/effect or quite and kinda in the background. I noticed you’ve been getting some nice new tools too! Where did you get your steady rest? I like the design.
Thanks for your input Miles! I think I'll be cutting back on music, just to see how it works out. I made the steady rest a few months back and there's a video of it uploaded to the channel if you'd like to seeits creation. :)
@@dukaheritage9445 oh sweet I am planning on starting a channel soon and have really enjoyed watching you go from setting out on this mission to where you are today but I guess I must have missed that one.
Why is it that whenever you say a simple 10 minute job it turns into a career, good to see workarounds, it's how we learn and improve. You were like a cat with the catch, not a "bury your own poo in the garden" way, but sharp reactions. Great little vase. Well done again. I do love your music, I find it relaxing, but actually didn't notice it wasn't there.
Man, that looks like cherry burl to me, nice little vase!
I was really surprised also by the color and the figuring in this little guy, I found this along with two others out on the mountain behind my house, cant wait to find some more :)
Ok,but that 1 handed juggling catch!!!
I thought I was watching ESPN highlights for a second!!
The piece is amazing!!
The catch.....PRICELESS
Might have gotten into sports but my knees are old XD
Your T-shirt looks like Walt Disney sneezed. ;) After the burl came off of the chuck I was yelling "STEADY REST" at the screen. I'm glad you heard me. :)
Lol I love that shirt, the tree roots form a guitar and all the leaves are music notes
Music added to your videos is like being surprised by a extra cherry on top of a banana split.
Wonderful transformation.
Thank you Paul!
