I don't understand why a person like this and singing background for Alicia Keys would have such a hard time getting a signed deal. Doesn't she know people? I don't get it?!?
Most back ground singers are super talented! Often better than the main act... believe it or not tamar was a back ground singer and mary mary was background singers
this is a man who fears the most high god of the bible his calling is bigger then singing songs promoting adultery and infidelity.... he is very talented indeed and personally the industry cant afford him, hes only 1 of a family of talent signing him means signing his whole family meaning they would basically control all their own music and no record company wants to make deal where they dont have right to the master .... its industry politics

I am looking at it right now. He's been singing duets with her ever since. Two Grammy nominations that wouldn't have been made without him. She didn't want to let her background singer go, but she loves him enough to know he can't be held behind her any further.
So maybe he wanted to make it on his own. Very admirable. It's not often people take the harder path. I have much respect for him and Alicia. Also there were other singers on the voice who have sang with their own bands for years and performed before, so to say he had an edge is really not fair. This could have went either way. Some people love AK and maybe would vote for him for that reason. Others that don't like her or her music might be a negative factor for him. Anyway she didn't
