And knowing he cannot show up for Belly and giving her up even though he loves her so deeply must be even harder. Connie knows that Jere will and can treat her like a queen at that moment and he just can't so he makes sure she is taken care of without holding a grudge. Plus the situation with his dad, still trying to reconcile the image of his dad (I don't think that Jere ever found out about the affair). Man he needs more than a month after his mom dying and going through 2 rounds of cancer. I hated how Jeremiah told Conrad that he wasn't around when I'm pretty sure that he went through most of it when Becks was sick the first time around and shielded Jere from everything because he was too young.
Thank you. When people say they hate Conrad or that he's a bad person, I'll point them to your edit. He's truly flawed and infinitely human.

Conrad has never been a bad person. He's just always been going through a rough time. It's not right to judge someone who's clearly at his lowest. He's just always misunderstood by everyone and even his own family members. His life literally keeps getting worse and worse. It's really not that hard to see Conrad's character properly if you pay attention to details and not the surface of his character.

Chris really is one of the most expressive and talented actors from the cast. The others are really good too, but his way of delivering emotions through eyes or face, his actions are really fit to the character he plays considering how opposite he is to Conrad in real life. Conrad is so misunderstood, and I love him! Hes so complex and interesting. Jeremiah isnt real enough. And when steven says, that Conrad challenges Belly, thats a good thing. Ik, it shouldnt be “challenging” but he makes her better. Conrad has carried the weight of the world on his shoulders and then sees the love of his life, kissing his brother, in his swearshirt, on his car. Jere might be easier and maybe thats what she needs. Maybe thats what they all need so Conrad can go to Stanford, and work on his issues. TEAM BONRAD FOR LIFE!
Jeremiah is an incredibly real and complex character. He has a whole host of issues just different than Conrad I wouldn't argue that he is better or worse than Conrad.
Completely disagree on the idea that Conrad challenges belly to be better herself. He challenges her in the sense that being with him is a challenge because he cannot be receptive to her feelings due to his issues but that isn't a good thing for either of them. More often than not belly has made more mistakes and done things she regrets as a result of her dynamic with Conrad not necessarily his fault admittedly but steven makes no sense. The only person we have actually seen challenge belly to be a better more confident self assured version of herself is Jeremiah and the fact that steven does not see that is beyond sad because it makes me question what his actual view of Jeremiah is as a person as his "supposed" best friend.
In the serie , no, the book, Jere, is extremely free to the point according to his own mouth and had a lot of experiences with both genders and Steven knows that, is his best friend, even Belly and Conrad knew. Conrad carried in the series the weight of his mother's health. He watched after her, and he cleaned for her to the point of anxiety attacks.....hey I could go on. Steven had reasons to think the way he did.
@@i.d.285 I agree but that isn't really my issue. My problem is from an out of universe perspective when people take Steven's words and see that as the objective view on Jeremiah as a character or a proper analysis on his relationship with belly when that is simply false. Steven does not know what he is talking about. His conclusions make sense regarding the information he has access to but his information is either incomplete or simply wrong. He has no idea the nature of Jeremiah and belly's relationship but that makes sense since all their conversations are private. Moreover he has no idea really the type of person Jeremiah is beyond the free, happy go lucky facade that he has constructed for himself.
Conrad himself even admits that he thought of Jeremiah as someone that never takes anything seriously so if even his brother and more than likely his father too cannot see past that then yeah it's understandable that Steven cannot either. In Jeremiah's mind only his mother and belly ever really knew the real him and this conversation between steven and Taylor may as well be confirmation of that fact. It's that what I found sad.
Steven proved he really saw what Belly needed for the long term. Sometime the easiest choice is not the best choice. After reading book 3 there is no way anyone could deny that Conrad is a good person who is her match.

Conrad had all his flaws magically erased through character development meanwhile Jeremiah was not allowed to develop at all and compared to the series version he would need to go through anti-character development to make his decisions make an iota of sense. So unless steven is some kind of prophet I dont know what you are talking about.
This was such a well done edit. Really shows who Conrad is. He isn't a bad person. He is a very good person to whom bad things happened and not knowing what to do got him messed up. He just needs a lot of emotional support and time to work on himself, once he gives himself priority, he will shine bright. Something really important to know in life is you can never treat someone right when you don't treat yourself right. It's important to have love for yourself before someone else, it makes it easier to treat them in the way they deserve, because you know how to treat yourself in the way you deserve.❤

I feel like crying everytime I see Conrad cos I just feel like he's going through a lot and he actually was especially after Susannah left, It was so hard for him that he even broke up with belly .. even though he loved her but didn't know how to tell her .. sometimes I just wish Conrad had superpowers and that he could actually turn back time and that he could have saved Susannah with his superpowers

Arghhh! This is the reason i cant stay mad at conrad for long. He has really shitty coping mechanisms, buuuut he does have a beautiful heart. Just too complex. I think steven sees that. I hope conrad finds some way to react better to situations. He cares too much or just doesn't care at all in moments.He needs a lot of healing and care, hope season 3 shows that growth in him.
this is the thing!! no one is denying homeboy needs therapy so he can communicate better but ultimately everything he's done, he's done with his best interests at heart. Letting go of Belly so he doesn't hurt her while he's hurting, and for his brother's happiness, keeping secrets so other people don't have to suffer like he does, helping his mom, deffending Laurel and so much more. Everything is consistent for a boy who has always been said he needs to take care of others because he's the oldest, he puts other people's needs and feelings before his own so he doesn't say anything if he's hurting.
He self sabotages because he thinks he is a burden to others, and dosen’t feel worthy of their love and care.

This video is so BEAUTIFUL. You captured everything Conrad is, and feels, and everything he is is too afraid to say. I've been thinking about why I am Team Conrad and a lot of it has to do with Conrad the character and not even the Belly/Conrad ship. As someone who deals with anxiety, and who used to have a really hard time communicating my thoughts with others, I relate to his character so much. I just want to applaud you for creating a video that shows who Conrad really is deep down; someone who is trying so hard; to keep it altogether, to not show weakness, to help support his family...he needs help and he needs therapy but he is not toxic, just a little bit broken on the inside but trying....

I have been saying that this is Conrad's song for a while now! I was thinking about the long pond sessions and how Taylor and Jack were talking about someone who keeps trying and failing and letting the people around him down. I have so much heart for Conrad and it is kinda sad that "we" see he's suffering and trying to keep everything together but his friends and family don't. It's so annoying that people label Conrad as mysterious and brooding when he's literally a child suffering with his mental health that is being ignored by almost everyone around him. You can't just turn depression and anxiety off and the more you push it down the worse it gets. I hope season 3 delves into mental health more!

People saying he’s a bad boy or a bad person is just bullshit. He’s a 17 years old boy learning that his dad cheated and his mom is sick again and this time he risk to lose her. At the same time summer is the favorite time of the year for everyone especially his mom he can’t say a thing. After he has to deal with his mom’s passing the panic attacks that comes with it. Grief isn’t easy and conrad is just trying to navigate through this. Yes he made mistakes and said things he didn’t mean but he’s isn’t perfect and he knows it. He kept his promise to his mom and put his brother happiness before his even if it meant being unhappy and alone.
I don't think anyone is saying he's a bad boy when clearly he's a sad boy. Ppl are saying he's a bad bf bc he's dealing with too much to be there for someone else and honestly I hope this character gets therapy but no one in the books does so probably won't happen.

This is why I will be forever a Connie girl. Yes part is bc I ship them but most is bc he is sooo misunderstood. This video clearly shows js how much he had to deal with. Everything he does is for others. He puts them above himself, and rly loves belly and Jere. Many people hate on him bc they see the wrong he has done without looking on why he does it or call him “toxic” which he isn’t and neither is their relationship. He pushes people away when he’s hurt so he doesn’t pour his grief on them, and likes to keep things to himself. But also, It was how he was taught to be by his parents (mostly Adam). He was the oldest child, and they often put more responsibility on his shoulder and forced him to grow up even tho he was still a child. How he reacts to situations is bc of how he grew up and partly just who he is. And experiencing something like his moms death is a lot, especially juggling a relationship and panic attacks too. He never had someone to tell him to act differently, he was alone in this and thought what he was doing was for the better. But people gotta give him a break. He’s a 17 yr old going through all this pain and crap. And he js doesn’t know how to control it yet. I get Jere had stuff too but it rly doesn’t compare to Conrad. I feel so bad for him

I watched this series without knowing who are jeremiah and conrad. And thoughout my entire time watching this series, I have a very deep empathy for conrad. Then i came to youtube and saw how many people are saying how bad of a person conrad is.
Well, no. Without disrespecting other ppl's opinion, to me, conrad isnt a jerk. He'll never be the jerk that many ppl are trying to paint him. Conrad is one of the most sincere and loving character in Tsitp. His love always puts other people's happiness above his. I'm not saying his ways of showing his love have always been right.
He screws up. Yes. Something he does shits that make ppl see him as the bad guy. But no matter what he screws up, you can always see love in his eyes.
And many of u are always forgetting the fact that conrad is hurt too. Very deeply. And the worst part of it, noone knows that he's hurt. Not even his own brother. That's why he has issues that needs to be fixed. I hope in sesson 3 we can see more of his pain and his journey to heal.

People often make it seem like It's Conrad who doesn’t deserve to be with Belly when I think it's other way round. Conrad had been a perfect guy all before this summer so Belly was happy to crush on him. But this summer when he is actually practically struggling with the burden of secret of his mom's cancer and dad's infidelity while being misunderstood by everyone as a jerk who pushes people away especially Jeremiah who blames Conrad for having a tense relationship with their dad, Belly is "choosing" to get over him because now it should be all about her in her girlboss era so she can just do whatever she likes. When it's convenient she chooses Jeremiah and other times she cannot get over her 'love' for Conrad and when Conrad again needs her understanding and is struggling with his mom's incoming death she breaks up with him. Not saying that Conrad should be excused for everything he does to fuck things up but imo he is a real character much better than the other two delusional ones. Also TBH even though it was really sad to see him crumble in the end after leaving Belly and Jere I feel it's gonna be good for him to work on himself and stay alone for a while.

Con lost his mother in Cancer. He distances himself from his beloved father who was a cheater to his mother. His brother didn’t understand him and stayed far for Belly. He loved Belly but she had mere childish expectations from him with no patience at that mental stage he was going through and so broke up with him and chosen his brother. So actually he lost like everyone… at one point of time in life. Pray, he can gather all confidence and break through all barriers in life. In real life hope there should be at least someone to hold hand if anyone falls in this kind of situation and mental state.

Conrad needs to get some help and grow up some more, just like belly. Then they have a really good chance at being end game.
Jeremiah is expected to stay cheerful and optimistic for everyone all the time. Nobody takes him seriously. His best friend leaves and his brother goes to college, leaving him to take care of his dying mother in her last few months, yet he is still treated like a child and as if he’s done nothing. He faces so much external pressure as he is essentially abandoned and left with a huge workload, without even being acknowledged.
Conrad keeps secrets bottled up inside way before Jeremiah knows anything about the situation. He’s forced to act normal when it’s obvious to him that nothing is normal. He feels like everything is his fault, his responsibility as he’s the oldest. He pushes people away because he doesn’t want to be a burden and has to deal with his mother placing her burden on him when he’s still so young. He faces more internal trauma because he feels he can’t share his problems with others because he doesn’t want the people he cares about to have to deal with them as he has to deal with his mother’s.
This is what keeps Jeremiah and Conrad from understanding each other. Ones problems are primarily external, the others internal. Jeremiah can never understand how keeping those secrets effected Conrad, as he’s never experienced anything like that. He feels that Conrad just packed up and left him alone and as he can’t understand what Conrad is going through, he thinks that him and his brother are going through the same thing and that Conrad just can’t handle it. Conrad can’t understand Jeremiah, as because he’s the one who’s had to carry this one singular burden for so long, he’s forgotten about the other factors of the situation. He’s I guess kinda failing to recognize what Jeremiahs done for their mother as he’s been alone for so long with no help, he’s completely used to doing it all by himself and can’t see that he’s finally being helped. He’s had the carry the secrets inside of him, fighting his own thoughts, whereas Jeremiah had to deal with all of these burdens being placed on him from others, being abandoned by others, etc.

Conrad internalizes. He shielded Jeremiah for years from all that was going on so he could enjoy his life with the burden of reality and i dont think he truly appreciated that. For me, i just think Jeremiah is jealous and only wanted belly because conrad did. How convenient he only thought of her as a friend till conrad showed interest.
Connie is a bad person? If it is the case, Jere is worse, Belly, the worst.
