did you experience a loss of power at low rpm after removing the flaps
No, in my case it got happyer at low rpm. Stock happy ofcourse 😅
hey, did you replaced the intake manifold gasket?
No, just cleaned it, i think i put little bit of engine silicone sealent on it.
@@Villageidiotsworkshop oh great! i have the exact same problem with my octavia rs with bmn motor but im kinda scared to remove these flaps, what if i mess something up and the car will not start? i'll call my mechanic tomorrow if he can do that. thanks a lot mate!
I think its relativly easy diy job, just be careful with electronic connectors, sometimes those are quite stuck. And as careful as possible, to not drop anything inside the engine 😅
What is the size of the plug to blank hole please ?
Actually i cant remember, i just cutted thread part of some random bolt, maybe M12. Thread was just to get more "grip" for the epoxy glue
@@Villageidiotsworkshop okay. Thanks you very much mate. Only video to show this being done I can find. Will try tomorrow
As long as its bigger, than the hole for shaft itself. So that it cant get inside the engine in any possible way 😅
@@Villageidiotsworkshop so M12 threaded bolt & epoxy resin to glue it in. Did you have any problems with yours after ? Mines completely loose so want to delete it.
I made also extension from the actuator (?) Bracket, to hold the plug in place while the glue was curing, cause that loctite glue i used, had 24hour cure time, and i wasnt going to wait that long
No issues afterwards
Great video. Seems easy enough to do. Got an oil and boost leak from my inlet. I'm replacing it with a new one with the flaps, paid about 100€ for it. If the last one lasted 250k km I assume this one will at the very least guarantee me 200k more which I am happy with for 100€. Wouldn't mind doing the flap delete, or an aluminium inlet, but I'll try doing it the "factory way" and see how it goes :) If it doesn't go well, I will just do the flap delete, as it seems like a one afternoon job anyway. Thanks for the video!
Thanks!
