I looked at all of the mid priced machines and one thing that all of them lack (except for Legcy) is the ability to clamp vertically for cutting joinery. The legacy uses R&P and I didn't want that. So, I built my own machine with a joinery cutting area, all ball screws, servos, and 5HP spindle for $4K. It was a task, but I'm so glad I didn't spend the money on a commercial machine! I gave up some cutting speed, but I'm OK cutting at 250IPM, fast enough for me.
That’s impressive. No chance in hell I would have tried to make one! I had a legacy artisan before this one and they are far from comparable in many ways.
William, I own a sign company in Chandler AZ. I also own a Shopsaber router. We bought the router about 15 years ago and it is still running strong. Keep up the good work man.
Great choice. We just got our Pro510 a couple weeks ago and she is a beast. I ran a layered 3D carve project the day after we finished the setup and it was a thing of beauty. Next on the list is a type-1 pvc project that we could have never done on our old machine. Have fun.
Would love to know your unloading process - I don't have a fork lift, and might not be able to order the same unit as you because I won't be able to unload. how did you manage it
You’ll want to rent a forklift to get it out of the shipping truck. Not too bad in cost. Set it on some vehicle skates that typically go under car tires to make them easily movable. Roll it into place and use a car jack to lift it up and pull the skates out.
Thanks for the look at the new Shop Sabre table. We are looking at getting the 510. How noisy are the 4 vacuum pumps? We are in a single phase shop and really don't like the cost of the phase converter.
Drifter Trailers I’m crammed in my single car garage with barely any room to walk around. Also single phase. They have a lot of options for the vacuum pumps but I went with the F4. They are.. kind of loud but not as bad as I was expecting. When I close the garage and stand outside it sounds like someone is in there vacuuming. The router bits are louder when cutting hardwood. I just wear noise cancelling headphones and rock n roll 🤘🏻 no regrets buying mine. For the price bracket I was in there is nothing better. If I wanting to drop $80k I might have looked into something els. This one had some really important options on it that the competition just didn’t have. I touched on those in this video. My old machine didn’t have those and the difference is clear.
Awesome choice and congrats! I have had a Pro510 for about 4 years now. Super high quality machine for the money, made in USA, and lifetime tech support. I am am sure you will be making many cool things with it for years to come!
Quick question for you - how much space does the vacuum pump and manifold take up behind the machine? It looks like a good 5-6 feet easy. Just trying to get an ide of required space before I pull the trigger on mine!
You can route the vacuum pipe anywhere and put the pump somewhere els if need be. The sizes very. Figure out which pump system you want to go with and have them give you the spec sheet for it. They have multiple options
@William Douglas Co. Thanks. Looking to get the F4 pump as well so was curious about your setup. It would seem the shorter the routing of pipe, the more vacuum the table will receive.
Robert Metzger there are so many variables that come into play for that. Mine barely fit into the garage but I didn’t get the ATC which makes it taller. I would have had to disassemble if I did
I'm looking at buying a shopsabre. I'm starting to do research. So many options. The reason I'm looking at shopsabre as an option is because a cabinet maker I know who has helped me a lot has one and it is what he recommends. So I saw the video and you mentioned a few things like ball bearing and servo drives etc. What was your 2nd option? What made you choose this machine/company (besides what you said on the video)?
My other option I was considering was the freedom patriot. It’s a badass machine but I went with the shopsabre because the specs were similar and it was a few thousand dollars less.
Casey Wollin no way! Are you serious?! That’s badass man, I love my machine! I made a few stupid mistakes on my order that I’ll have to update at some point. First one being.. I didn’t get whatever piece was needed to control my spindle rpms on the ShopSabre interface. I have to manually do it on the VFD. I have to send in the board or something now and be without a cnc for a few weeks to get that done.
Love the video, had an installation question for you, my SS is also going into a single car garage, can you share some advice on how to safely maneuver it into this tight space? My single car is wider but certainly not wide enough to drive the CNC into it on the forks
Whats the going rate to have some work done by you guys by the CNC? I'm saving to get a consumer level cnc for the woodworking I do (definitely nowhere near the level of awesome you guys do).
When you start to think about commercial grade equipment in your home then the possibilities are endless. We love companies that are making more equipment accessible for your “average Joe.”
William Douglas Co. Man I love to have the space for this stuff. Currently just doing weekend working out of tiny garage but hopefully I could make it into career one day. It’s great seeing actual professional furniture makers rather than just some of weekend hobbyist channels (no issue with them just nice to see a change for once). Keep it up guys!
Good morning say I have a one man shop and I’m ready for my first cnc. The 408 looks like the perfect Fit. I’m ordering it by the end of the month, do to some special they have. Your thoughts so far on yours? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
David Langenberger one option that I wish I got was an upgrade to the control board that allows the computer to control the spindle speed. I was surprised that I have to manually set my spindle speed on my vfd before each job and when I asked them about it they said I declined that option. I wish they did a better job explaining what it was because it was only a $250 upgrade.
Thanks for getting back to me. What vacuum pump did you get ? I was thinking the F-4 Also the spindle motor I’m upgrading to the 10hp with the tool changer. Shop space is Limited for me and they say in the specs that the overall length is like 135” how much room do I really need with the pump? Thanks David
David Langenberger I have the F4 and am pretty happy with it. I didn’t get the tool change because I don’t have the power it requires at my house. The vacuum unit attaches at the end of the cnc which takes up a large footprint. You could buy extra pipe from a local hardware store and find somewhere els to put the vacuum if you needed to.
Nice 👍 i also have one and using vcarve for weird stuff and mozaik for boxes ,, very powerful with good software! Mine is Chinese,, no complains just wish i had atc
William Douglas Co. cabinet software that you can use with cnc , really nice one , its focused more on production of kitchen cabinets , closets etc look in to it , i had cnc few months only with v carve and after i got mozaik cnc became used much more often
Wow!! Considering how excited I get with a new tape measure and pencil, you gotta be through the roof with an upgrade like that. Also glad to see you-all moving forward and taking a risk to improve you business.👍👍👍👍👍
Ho. Ly. Shit. Maybe I should start advertising the cnc to local river table makers. I’ll be raking in the Doe for the next 6 months until they go out of style.
Hope all is good Bro.. How is the machine holding up after, I'm sure you've had the time to use it for some time? I am in the process to maybe pulling the trigger on a Pro 408 myself. I was wondering if you could share some insight and\or recommendations. I would really appreciated. I am here in Surprise AZ. it would be cool to get some real life feedback. Thank you Sir.
For sure. Real feedback is hard to come by. The machine is holding up great. After using it for a while my only regrets are that I didn’t vet more features. I bought for now instead of buying for the future and though you CAN upgrade, it’s a lot more expensive to do after the fact. The ATC, Pnuematic pins, and phenolic table were things I wish I had purchased from the start. Hope this helps
You guys are dope! Love all your videos specially the funny ones. BTW, the CNC is definitely the way to go. I built my own 48 x 48 machine and it is by far the best tool in my shop.
With your hand movements at the end, Will, I could have sworn I was expecting you to start rapping. No doubt that video is coming soon. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what this machine can do. Makes me sound old when I say I didn't even know these things existed, but damn, it looks amazing. Your electric bills must be insane though! Lol. Edit: forgot to mention the merch. Damn, you've been busy! I do have a request though, and that's your work apron. I really like the design, so I'd definitely buy one if they were to be available.
www.williamdouglasco.com/product-category/aprons/ Sorry Chris I’ve been trying to get caught up with work and haven’t been feeling well. Falling behind on my comments! I dropped you a link to the aprons on my website.
That looks very nice. I'm in the market for a machine around this level. Did you look at any other machines? My short list right now is Legacy, Axiom, and now this. Definitely looking forward to more CNC content and seeing this one get at it!
I work at shop sabre! Good looks on the video! I love it
I was trying to work with you guys on a partnership a few months back!
The vacuum pulls through the mdf?
Yes! It’s so badass
Stellar machine and Stache

FullTimeFurniture Maker can you dm me your bill of materials and some images of the design?
That’s impressive. No chance in hell I would have tried to make one! I had a legacy artisan before this one and they are far from comparable in many ways.
This is the perfect machine for mass producing cutting boards inscribed with "We don't need any more cutting boards" on them!
scott oconnor 😂😂😂
Just bought the Pro510 for my shop. Hoping for good things w it!
What song is playing when you test the vacuum of the table?
Troy Griffith thats a question for my media guy! I’ll try to find out
And the song in the start also?
1st: NBHD Nick - "Knockin"
2nd: Henyao - "I Am Monster"
3rd: Henyao - "Time Keeps Moving On"
William, I own a sign company in Chandler AZ. I also own a Shopsaber router. We bought the router about 15 years ago and it is still running strong. Keep up the good work man.
Jim Eichenberg that’s awesome! I don’t know anyone else who has one so that’s really great to hear it’s doing great after 15 years!
Great choice.

@@WilliamDouglasCo thanks - looking for FL rental now
Nice! I am highly considering a IS510 for Mostly high end Cabinet and Closet production. Do you think this machine would bit the bill?
Without a doubt. The IS510 is made to run very high production
Nice,I hope it helped you grow your business!!! How much does it cost please??
It really depends on which options you opt for. I think you can expect to pay anywhere from $35k and up to around $80k if I remember correctly
@@WilliamDouglasCo I mean how much did it cost you, just the CNC without the air and electrical installation.
@@ElFloreteTM I paid around $40k because I didn’t get any of the big options like ATC and the lathe attachment

What is the height - any trouble getting it through what I assume is a standard 7' tall garage door opening? Thanks.

@@WilliamDouglasCo Thanks - I'll make an inquiry to ShopSabre for the configuration I'm interested in, letting them know my height constraint - Bob
