If I remember correctly, around 2010 the American PBS network ran a multi-part documentary on the history of religion in the US. When George Whitfield's story was presented one of the commentators said that as a by-product of his preaching the colonies saw themselves tied to each other more than to the British crown. There are many ways in which the revolution has of course done great good for the world. In some ways however, one could think of the revolution as a rejection of Whitfield's message, since the founding fathers were all deists. Just like with the peasants rebellion that followed Martin Luther's preaching, Whitfield's message would have been one of God changing people from within and then those changed people act as good citizens of wherever they live. By trying to get control of the government, people are working to change the world in a way opposite to God's way. Another example of this is the history of Pitcairn island. We are proud to tell the story of how it became a model society after Christianity was accepted by the descendants of the mutineers. What is not said is how those who rejected the faith left the island and started their own colony, Norfolk island, which also claims a history back to the mutiny on the Bounty. When we get to heaven and spend those first 1000 years seeing world history from His point of view, we will see how many times great changes in the world were caused by God using His people to preach and teach and then the political aspects of those events, which only the secular media and historians report today will be shown to have come as by-products.
For salvation, we must follow the way they did it in Acts. They repented, were baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and received the gift of the Holy Ghost, Acts 2:38! Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled and rising again from the dead and walking in the newness of life. That's what Acts 2:38 is. We can't pick and choose which scriptures we like or dislike. We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ... Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOTH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT for a man be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter the kingdom of GOD. Jesus Christ does love us and died for us, and he wants us to obey him. We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:8-9, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed. One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans. Our salvation must match the scriptures, and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away. Eternity is TOO long to be WRONG! The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us. The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38. The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church. It's better to walk alone than with a crowd going in the wrong direction. Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, And they continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone. Don't get Titus 3:5 mixed up with James 2:14-26, about WORKS. One is a WORK of your OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS OR GOOD DEEDS, and the other is a WORK OF FAITH or OBEDIENCE TO GOD. Noah believed or had FAITH, BUT THEN WORKED OR OBEYED TO BUILD THE ARK TO BE SAVED. LOT believed or had FAITH, BUT THEN OBEYED AND LEFT SODOM. This is why Jesus said, that He who believes and is baptized shall be saved. We must believe and obey Acts 2:38. All scriptures have to harmonize together. 1 Corinthians 14,33, For God, is not the author of Confusion, so it wasn't him that brought all these different religions down here that brings confusion.
Just in case you missed my question to the amazing stories team I will ask again;; why do you teach that it is a law to go to church on the Sabbath when exodus 20 verse 8 says nothing about going out and Jesus went to teach those that hated him in the synagogue and the temple not to fellowship with his disciples,. This just encourages hatred towards anyone who stayed home and rest and pray on the Sabbath and then fellowship on Sunday giving money for tithes and offerings and thereby keeping the Sabbath Holy
