Jazz pianist Erroll Louis Garner composed his standard "Misty" as an instrumental in 1954, and released a recording that year. Lyricist John Francis Burke added lyrics in 1955. Jazz vocalist Dakota Staton was the first to record the song in 1957. Many other singers have recorded the song since then: Sarah Lois Vaughan, 1958; John Royce "Johnny" Mathis, 1959; Ella Jane Fitzgerald, 1960; ... Sohyang sings "Misty" in the style of Fitzgerald.
One of my favorite Sohyang performances! I love her high notes, but maybe even more I love the beauty and clarity of her voice in this song. I wish she would do more “softer” songs that highlight the amazing quality of her voice.

I am sure Caitlin, that by now you are realising that when people say that this amazing lady can sing literally any genre, they are not exaggerating. If you hadn’t heard Sohyang before & you heard this, you would assume that she was a jazz/blues singer ( I can just see her on one of those little jazz clubs. I think your last few video’s have showed exactly what Sohyang is capable of, today this homage to Ella Fitzgerald & a couple of video’s ago she was rapping !!!! Another great reaction, not one to jump up & down about but like you said, so so satisfying. In its own way it was equally as impressive as other performances, but this really left me with a warm feeling inside. Sohyang compilation CD’s are great because when you listen to a CD full of songs from an artist,although there may be slight variations in the style of songs, the thing with Sohyang is that on a CD full of maybe 12-15 songs, you would have absolutely no idea what genre of music you are gonna hear next, which is great because there’s no chance of it becoming boring. Keep up with the ‘begin again Korea’ performances because there as so many special performances by her & especially if you like the ‘live’ performance, because they are essentially ‘busking’ & it doesn’t get any more ‘live’ than that. I think this more stripped back to the bones approach really sorts out the good singers from the great singers, as there is nowhere to hide, it’s just you & your voice & as you are seeing in these performances, Sohyang just shines like the brightest star.
Sohyang's Misty is pretty dangerous😱 I thought it was good to watch on UA-cam When I heard it in the actual concert hall, I fell in love❤, and my heart couldn't hold out and burst into foam😵
Sohyang's song that I like the most means '어떻게 이별까지 사랑하겠어', which means 'How can love until the breakup'. I want to ask you for a reaction, but it will be difficult to find this song with an English title..😓
