Chocolate Bhutlahs seem so much hotter because they contain Dihydrocapsaicin, which puts on a totally different burn, for anyone who didn't know. I know Ed knows that tho lol, he's the master of peppers after all.
He's a mad man dude lol. He should be in jail of he wasn't so nice lol. Watch the small doc on him by wired. Just bites into reapers like apples and keeps farming. Insane
I just started my very first pepper plants, both the Carolina Reaper and Chocolate Bhutlah. I just sewed 12 of each today. This July will also be my 4th year clean from drug addiction too :-)
You made a wise decision. Pepper head for life. I unfortunately recently got back drugs. I think you may have convinced me to start growing pods again. God bless you
@@ga8rielsMsg I really hope you can find a way to beat that sort of habit, it was really hard for me and honestly it took me ending up on probation and then mental health court and getting caught with drugs in my system which resulted in a sanction that costed me two months in jail and additional 3 weeks in rehab that got me clean. It was the three total months straight of forced sobriety that allowed me to stay on the straight and narrow to this day. There's many things that help many different people get clean, I hope you can find a way without having to deal with more misfortune to get there. I wish you well :-)

I just sowed mine... I'm most excited about this pepper. Thank you Ed for making this possible! Obviously these are seeds you can't find anywhere else.
Ed you made a comment right after the remark about did you toke one up up that suggests you've been clean for going on 20 years now. If that is what you meant, right on man ! Sneakin up on #9 myself.
Professional with no foul mouth language or added drama and he maintained full composure and delivered informative and a descriptive review on all I needed to know.
I will be doing a reaper vs Bhutlah taste test to see what’s hotter on my channel later this year 2020. I just potted my Reaper and Bhutlah a few weeks ago. I will be working my way up in the mean time as I have a habenero, ghost pepper, and Scorpion peppers. I plan to use my US Army Infantry Skills to help me get through it! Yea like that really matters ha! Stay tuned. Good job Ed! Much love from Cali
I like his response to that guy said water doesn't help. I'm trying to get the seeds out is a another way of him saying B#TCH I know! That guy really had no idea who he was talking to.🤣🤣🤣
+EdCurrie is the Boss, Steven Mclaren is the man. My chocolate plague is at the post office, picking it up tomorrow I'm excited, never tasted the chocolate bhutlah before. You fellas have earned my business and will be spreading the word.
Ed often times I eat pods in my ramen noodles and I was wondering if I may be able to sample this pod u ate I heard about u off someone and I got a bit intrigued,,if not it's all good thank u and God bless
Around 6:30 you talked about Scorpion peppers being bitter. I noticed with the Ghosts that I'm growing, they have a scorpion tail on them and are crazy hot and super bitter. That might be what's going on. They are crossed with Scorpions.
Water makes it worse. I don't remember how to explain the science behind it, but if you look it up I promise you you'll find an explanation for how it works. I THINK it has to do with water not cutting the acidity but instead spreading it whereas milk would neutralize it. I do have to say though, that this HAS to be a weak Choc Bhut because I've never seen any human not get near immediate hiccups, sweats and so on. Even Chili Klaus ate one, but showed the same signs as everyone else who has tried one. Either this was a very weak pepper, or this guy has some genetic anomaly where the heat just doesn't effect him like it does most people.
The reason water makes it worse is that Capsaicin isn't water soluble, it's fat soluble, but it also requires a binding agent to bind to the fat molecules. So, basically, when you put water in your mouth, all that it does is provide very temporary relief by the cooling effect (which is more just tricking your brain than anything), but as soon as that effect goes away, the Capsaicin doesn't actually dissolve into the water, like you said, it just spreads it around. Since milk is quite fatty and has a binding agent called Casein, it has the ability to dissolve some of the Capsaicin into the milk. That being said, when you have some serious levels of Capsaicin concentration like the pepper shown here, there's just too much and the milk really can only bind and dissolve a small percentage of the Capsaicin molecules. So, you'll notice the hotter and hotter you go, the less the milk can actually help you.
@@austin4x I take it youve found out more on this guy. Ed curry. Who literally just snacks on reapers. Chili klaus is nowhere near this dudes tolerance but hes very charming.
I bought a box of these 2 years ago via Brian Knepper and they have a wonderful flavor and a great ghostish hot. Of coarse we all sampled the fresh pods but I dried the rest and we still enjoy these in chili and wing sauce even today.
This pepper is as hot as it is disgusting. It's equal parts lava and dirt. Hideous. Ed's a beast. Eat one to get your chill scout patch and never again. Reapers are soooo much more palatable and can actually be a condiment. 3 cheers for Ed!
So what's the truth about the Bhutlah? Johnny Scoville claims the large, ultra-hot pods are from Dave Minor and Steven Mclaurin's are small and not-so-hot yet Ed got the good one straight from Steve's hands, what's the deal? Also, why does everyone selling them seem to have much smaller pods?
Pretty disrespectful to ask a person with substance abuse history if they have been cooking on something. Thats messed up. God Bless this man for what he's done for the chili community
I'm skeptical that the heat build from a Chocolate Bhutlah would only start after 4-6 minutes in. Either your tolerance is in top form, or you had a generational dud (aberration from the F1s). Given your resume, I'll go with the former.
He is burning fat to stay alive, as long as he is supplementing vitamins/minerals/etc. Fat will provide the energy for brain and body, and he may get a little muscle waste from protein levels that low. But I can't imagine be cares much, looks like he might have had some BP or heart scare lately that caused he and his wife to take a drastic measure in diet

Just incredible ... how well you handled that pepper ... Awesome

Is someone seriously giving Ed Currie "advice" on peppers? Seriously...?
Dude is a lying dick.
I have to say...I love spice, but Ed's bravery and passion for heat is unlike any I've ever known!
Thank you Raven
lol at the guy who told him water doesn't help. Do you even know who this guy is?
Francis Bacon when Ed drinks water after a pepper it's because he WANTS to "make it worse" (it's not hot enough for him)
Francis Bacon water just spreads the pain..
He says that he drinks to put the seeds off his teeths. Did you listen to the video ?
@@losoj30 sorry, but WOOOOSSSHH

That dude from Hawaii ate one of those too and had the same chill reaction. You kept talking about the heat JUST hitting you twice, but all in all :0

what a boss
It's so weird seeing him keep his composure like that after he ate that, after watching L.A. Beast do the same thing and be massively affected by it.

I'd like to see Ed eat some peppers with Johnny Scolville. That'd make for an amazing video.

Yeah i love this pepper but dont ever eat it on an empty stomach or you will be praying for the reaper to come and i ain't talking about the pepper 😉
