I love the actually show the door moving and each change is shown too. Many door closer companies forget to show what the product is for and how it works.
The pre tension is the other way around for me. Someone else had it installed and now it's forcing the door to shut with power instead of slowing the closing door down. How can I make the pretension to point towards the other side?
Stupid replacement (a BRITON Door Closer) that I got to replace the broken (very old) Lockwood Arrow 747 which after many many years of almost reliable door closings (was manufactured here in NZ away back in 1992 so to "die" yesterday 26th May 2021 it did a stirling job of closing an OUTSIDE door .. the one this BRITON says on it's internally packed instructions - recommend it's NOT used for ? Go figure eh .. I asked the store-staff for an external door closer and got that "el-cheapo" BRITON .. Anyways the lintel bracket was TOO LONG for the original top bracket's screw holes - so I needed to grind off about 1/16th of n inch to mount it to the door jamb. In doing this - I needed to go to my garage/workshop & fire up old Greg - the Grinder. It isn't fixed to the work bench so moved a little and showered sparks into all the wrong places - hence why I needed to "shift it slightly" WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG ???? p.s.. Now have a new way of "losing weight".. It is really easy to do. MOVE that table grinder whilst it's running - as your index finger (like mine) will most likely slip up onto one of those spinning grinder wheels & ... Voila - one microscopic lessoning of your total body weight, as.. The grinder wheel will almost instantaneously remove most of your errant finger tip. And part of your finger nail as well. No hesitation in RPM reduction for the motorized grinding wheel - nor any removal of grinder material either. Just an instantly sore finger minus the side / tip as it "vanishes" into burnt skin Never the less, after some 1st aid and several band-aides - I removed that offending 1/16th of an inch of material off the top hanger and the door closer works perfectly. I even figured out how to get the backswing, door sweep & latch speeds done correctly. Albeit with a smaller body mass than I had before I started ..

Definitely fancier than the ones we install. I like how you can adjust the arm height.
