I used a 12pt socket back when I was a dealership tech. Hammered it on then hit it with an impact gun. Worked every time. We ran into this on used cars. The wheel lock key was always missing.
For regular lug locks ones no, but for this spline lock yes the spline locks no good anymore. Customers gave permission to remove them and throw em out.
Interesting idea, could i sugest better to hammer a non cromed socket that a chrome plated as crome can come loose and its very sharp dont ask how i know.
I am retired now and remember days before these pesky things! It used to grind my gears hunting through an untidy car to find the wheel key especially when your on flat rate. A smart thief will override them anyway 🤬
Ford doesn't use that type of wheel lock. What he did in the video wouldn't work on your car. You have locks that are round, and the lock pattern is on the face of the lug nut, not the side. Ford only uses about 10 different lock patterns. If you go to the parts department at your dealer, they have master sets. Just try them all until you get the one that fits. Get a replacement lock or just take the locks off and put regular lug nuts on them.
@JordzyBrev Customers get so mad when they're told their lug nuts are swollen. "What?! I've never heard of a lug nut getting swollen, and I used to work on cars!" Times have changed, my man.
@@JordzyBrev Ford covers those lug nuts under warranty. Once you get them off, go to parts and exchange the old ones for new. Just make sure you tell the service writer to add a line. Also, look up the labor ops in stls so you can get paid for swapping them out. Its not much, but its better than nothing. If you look up the labor ops for a before and after test drive and put that down as well. If you bill it right, you can get around .5.
Does not stop them...They will steal whole car and take everything apart in nice warm garage and lift, or ID swap it and sell it if its worth it. The window etching markings do fuck all since they have their own window company to get new windows if the car is actually worth it again, otherwise they part it and might even get more profit. Locknuts might hinder from local meth heads, but they can just steal it too, by break into the house for the keys.

Must have been a Chrysler tech.
You need to help me on a citroen because the locking nuts break on them and nothing grips it
Great but I’d be prepared to replace a wheel stud 🤔
Thanks again champ, well done
They make sockets specifically for lock nuts. You can loan them out from some autoparts stores.
They definitely do, but if you don’t have them or your local auto location doesn’t then you can do this
Love bruh ❤❤❤
Thanks fam!
Does it mess up the lug ?

To separate the socket and the lug nut i use a hammer hit the center of the socket and it comes of easy. Never failed me
Nice!

Awesome baby your number one thanks 💪💪🏆🏆
Thanks!!

Hey, that is the same process to break a wheel stud. 😂
This guy is like the obi-wan kenobi of mechanic mind tricks.
Well now everybody knows how to still my wheels, thanks for the tip bro🥴
Thieves been knew that trick
Hammer fixes every thing. Stuck bolt hammer bad day hammer bad boss HAMMER lol
Lmao😂😂
GearHead Brian… “Professional destroyer of sockets.” 😆😉
@@nickx8411 oh please …..🙄
lol the sockets will live
Just for that trick they want and arm and a leg on top of the quoted price 🐀🐀🐀
Good then
If we want to buy this socket we will tell the buyer when he asks the type of socket our answer will be “this socket” type
You can use a 6 point 17mm socket to take off Gorilla lug nuts.
Fuggin gearhead!
Thanks
or just buy a spline nut socketnandnput in toolbox.
🤔 does it work on Lincoln’s?
Never tried it on that lol

Thanks I was wondering how I was going to steal the rims I want.!
Lmao
don't forget to grab the cats while you're down there!
Chrome plated wheel nuts. Theres a special place in hell for the mug who thought that was a good idea. Probably an engineer lets be real.
You try work on a ford vehicle with every single wheel nut swollen and have to use 3 different sockets and same with JLR group
@@JordzyBrevI have a Jag that had those. I replaced them with Toyota wheel nuts.

That trick also work on those nasty allen key types wheel lug nut that notoriously known to round off. Thanks
Hell yeah!
Wouldn't work with my wheels. There is zero extra space to fit anything but the keyed socket.
wheellocks on ugly wheels should be illegal. Like an actual get pulled over for offense
My sister had steel rims with new tires stolen off her car. They put on bald tires and she didn't even know until she went in for an inspection lol.
Vws golfs still are hideous with nice wheels
There are some Japanese OEM rims that are real nice 👀
Those are Acura TSX ( Enkei ) there nice just like on my 04 Accord V6 model. They are same ReBranded Enkei.
@@LesWiles take that back!
Worst design lugs ever could leave you stranded
Not good ! What if you miss the socket?
How would you possibly miss the socket? Just be sure to have good aim
Throw that shit away and replace it with a regular lug. Charge them 30 buck .
That's a 2006 TSX!
Or just ask for the wheel lock key for it
rip lug bolt
I love your videos man but this one stresses me out.
Hands thanks man
Thank you for teaching scumbags how to steal rims! 👍
criminals already know how to steal rims
ever since these things came out, they don’t stop people from stealing wheels.
they’re useless and a pain in the ass
Burglars should not see this off course there would be a lot of noise in this method

They can just buy the spline socket set. Wheel locks only slow down theft, they dont stop it.
Yeah it’s definitely not the quietest method

Anytime
Ooooh, i do not like this one. I would do it if i was stranded but I would just buy the splined socket at the parts store. They’re about $15
You would have to know which one it is. AutoZone sells a set 6 for $50 that comes with a 6 7 and 10 point(2 different diameters).
You definitely could if you’d like
Curious if you ever used a gator socket? Do they work ok in a pinch?
I really liked it! Thank you for a great time! 💝🐱
Simply wonderful! Thank you for your hard work and talent! 👄😻👅
Try a gearwrench bolt biter
Definitely
